Awesome, best instructions yet. The tip about how to put the shock absorber back in place was helpful. Instructions were so easy to follow.
Nice ! Short and to the point! Its rare these days.
Cheers
I have a RAV4. Of course, this is so easy, I've already done it a few times. Thanks for the Video. I am glad you showed at the end how you did the trick where the camera was showing the "filter-eye" view.
i dont own a car, but thats still interesting and good to know. thanks for sharing this.
thank you for making such an easy clear video. It was a quick replacement.
Glad it helped!
i don’t think i’ll ever use this but this video was so good
I like seeing where your home maintenence & consumer protection curiosity takes you
Also works the same for 4th Gen 4runners. Nice video.
Great stuff Chris! The link you provided shows 2 filters for $20 for my car. The cheapest I found at CDN Tire was $27 for 1, or $20 for 1 at Auto Zone. More than a half price discount!
Thank you wise man
Appreciate the help bro
Thank you!
I work in automotive directly with these filters, I would not recommend the linked product which is a fram filter with activated charcoal. Changing to a charcoal filter when the system was designed around a standard pollen/particle filter will cause system airflow reduction and strain on your blower motor. I would recommend oem standard replacement that you could obtain potentially from Rock auto, Toyota dealer on Amazon, or 2nd option Wix brand
Which ever you choose should be ok. As long as it filters out the dirt and dust from the evaporator and heater core will be fine.
Doesn't Toyota offer a carbon filter as well?
@@masterofnone1808 Toyota does for different vehicles (Lexus, Avalon, ect) but the filter is different size/design.
Awesome!!
Excellent video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
You know how it has an arrow? if your car was on it's roof would you point the arrow down?
All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow direction; otherwise all the dirt that collected on top of the old filter would be trapped inside the blower under the filter instead.
The shock us correctly called a damper
Thanks!
No problem!
I don't have a Rav 4. But that's a great place to check for one!
in a bind without replacement filter you can vacuum the dirty side and put it back in
Like I said in the video. Most of the time I just bang it out on the ground.
@@chrisnotap I think banging it out might dislodge particles that were small enough to pass through but got caught by electrostatic charge. By vacuuming the dirty side first, then the clean side, then bang it; then vacuum again; a person might not do a terrible job of restoring the filter. I could wrong and my idea be actually horrible; I just don't know without test equipment, knowledge and ability to test it.
Great. Almost identical to my Scion Xb. The OEM Toyota Filters are made by Denso, which is available at Rock Auto.
Scion is /was made by Toyota. Lexus is the same. They are all easy to do!
Very helpful save me $70 thanks
Glad I could help!
Honda and Subaru cabin air filters are behind the glove box; at least the ones I've changed are. With all the western fires getting worse year after year I went looking for HEPA rated filters last summer to make the car's air cleaner to breath. I now use Bosch air filters.
Now that I've already replaced it with a bottom of the line (factory equivalent) your comment reminds me that there was a more expensive one with a charcoal option. I do remember those smokey days.
Hello!
so you dont need to clean any debris in the space where the cabin air filter is placed before putting the new filter?
You can if you can get to it. Most are not very accessible to clean. But yes, if you can get some of the junk out is best.
Hi
I bought it using ur link. I hope it helps with the exhaust smell that sometimes comes in the car. So annoying.
It won't. Have your car inspected for exhaust leak.
Goodluck
@@i-will-get-you-thereYes, I'm doing that soon. Toyota replies the exhaust for free even it was out of warranty. But, I guess u get what u pay for.
Ayee hee back
How about a Pruis !! Just Kidding!!
👍🏼
This video is not completely accurate because there is *no camera inside my car's filter door* (0:32)
I bought the optional "cabin filter cam" when I purchased it!
Just an observation. Pushing the glove box inward was insufficient. Had to do that and squeeze the other side of the box towards me to get it to drop.
Yes applying pressure on both sides allows it to drop down 0:17
Second!
My glove box is totally different :(
What year do you have?
2015, it didn't have the "shock absorber" to disconnect. I managed to pull it out but no video had the same kind of mechanism
@@wilho999 The shock absorber is probably there. They get popped off if you pull the glovebox open too fast. It should be hanging on the right side out of sight.
