I seriously remember being a little kid obsessed with Naruto when this episode came out and this episode might’ve been one of my favorite pieces of media to ever come out ❤
It was just so cute to me how the episode was basically only about kids playing together. Complete with the only real break in the game being when one of them actually gets hurt by accident
This is why I love Stick of Truth and Fractured But Whole so much. The plots end up getting wrapped in with things far beyond what it started as but, at its core, they are stories about a bunch of kids playing a game and the universe it takes place in is aware of it and I love the creativity of these epic battles taken so seriously but the characters are wearing bicycle helmets with cardboard taped to them and fighting each other with DIY weapons that are shoddy and obviously made by a child.

As a creative, I really relate with how Matt and Trey’s perspective on their best episodes has changed over time. They said the same thing about their Warcraft episode and were scared to air it, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that both of these episodes are experimenting with new/different techniques. Doing something new when you’re used to a certain routine with your work is always intimidating, and the result might not be what you pictured at the time, but sometimes your perspective on your work changes. Seeing two super talented professionals go through this is super validating.
Truly captures the boys being boys. Using their imaginations to the umpth degree and it's absolutely one of the episodes I look forward to the most anytime I rewatch the series
As a 90s fighting game fan, I loved the fact that they referenced art from Super Street Fighter 2 and the Alpha games (namely 1 and 2) for the boys in this episode. Will always be one of my favourites. SFA2 Sagat/Professor Chaos was glorious indeed.
Using the Ninja powers setup for a third RPG style game would be INCREDIBLE. I'm so glad they didn't waste that premise on the non-RPG game they just released, so there's still hope for this.
Good times with weapons was actually the first episode I ended up seeing! I saw clips of it when I was 6/7 on RUclips, probably way too young to be watching that kind of stuff. Nice to see the episode getting some appreciation.
I remember seeing this way back and laughing my ass off the moment i saw them imagine themselves as anime ninja with the music playing. Seeing the kids play with the weapons, is truly a callback to what every kid did growing up, It is hard to not see someone you once saw did that or you yourself did that at one point. I am truly glad they brought back the animation for professor chaos whenever you make Paladin Butters use his ultimate move in Stick of Truth.
For YEARS I despised South Park, basically viewing it as Terrence and Phillip, but an ex of mine showed me this episode and I was SOLD. Now it's one of my favourite shows of all time, I carry a Kenny backpack to work whilst wearing my Professor Chaos trainers and I couldn't be happier my ex convinced me to give the show another try.
I'll never forget coming home super late one night many years ago, buzzed out of my mind. I was laying in bed watching Tv, and found South Park on, and it just happened to be _this_ episode. At first, I was like "What the fk is going on here?!" Then as it rolled on, I started laughing my ever living ass off at the way the episode was playing out. Then after the Ninja star plows right into Professor Chaos' eye, and it switches back to poor ole Butters, gawd I was dead!!!!!
The way butters bursts into tears after the PERFECT amount of time as a build up isn’t given enough credit. Truly a perfect episode I rewatch it often, and a lot of my rewatches start here normal but at least 40% of them lol.
I always loved this episode when I first saw it but I couldn't really fathom why, thanks to you now I do know! This is easily one of the best in the show, and considering how many episodes that are unanimously praised for commentary, comedy or character moments, I shouldn't use that lightly. But I'm sticking with it because this episode truly is a masterpiece for South Park.
I still can’t get over how funny the ninja star scene is, the second I clicked on this video I started giggling cause I knew you were gonna talk about it
2:34 The reason HD DVD lost to Blu-ray, was because of the storage capacity. A dual layered Blu-ray disc can hold 50GB of information, while a dual layered HD DVD disc only held 30GB. Huge difference when you're trying to make HD content
You and me both share the favourite moment of the show.. For almost 20 years that cut to real life butters with the star in his eye and the quiet before he starts crying is just so perfect.. Nothing they have done have topped that before or after
I remember this was the first South Park episode I’ve ever seen on vacation on the tv i forgot about it and now a couple years later it’s one of my favorite shows
Always been my favorite episode. Watched in the parking lot at red rocks before their 25th anniversary concert. Was so excited they played let's fighting love live!
2:54 I agree that South Park is at its best when it parodies childhood itself. There are lots of things we all (or someone we knew) did when we were kids and I love when this show touches on them. The episode with the folding paper thing that "tells the future" and the Warcraft episode being two other good examples.

This exact scenario basically happened to my dad in real life, except he and his brothers had wooden bows and arrows. And someone took the suction cup off the end of an arrow and aimed it and my dad's face.
The tiny dose of reality is exactly why I loved the anime "Love, Chuunibyo, and Other Delusions" where two girls were leaping across rooftops, striking at each other with larger-than-life weapons... the fight started with them holding brooms and making battle music with their mouths, and then it smash cuts from the epic battle to the pair of them rolling on the floor and smacking each other with brooms. Or when someone casts a smokescreen spell, and after the dust settles, it's revealed they literally just threw a bag of flour on the floor hard enough to make it explode. I *love* that stuff.
The episode is the best example of my favorite part of south park. The relatability. This is exactly how kids are, and that's so charming to me. Theres no cynicism about how stupid theyre all being, its just pure fun.
I just watched this episode over again last week. Never gets old, lol. Even watching the clips in this video makes me laugh out loud. It really is perfect.
My personal favorite above this episode is Lil' Crime Stoppers and just seeing them deal with the police situation escalating until they just get fed up with it.
This episode is pure perfection! I remember the first time I watched it, I completely lost it when they try grabbing the ninja star out of Butters' eye. I honestly don't think I stopped laughing throughout the rest of the episode, so much so, that I had to rewatch it later that evening with my roommates so I could actually catch the full plot. I absolutely want a South Park game using this setting!
8:57 this right here sums up the 2000’s and the first half of the the 2010’s. Parents didn’t mind their kids watching overt violence in movies or video games but the moment anything sexual was on there, it was an outrage. My biggest example being parents being fine getting their 12 year old kid a call of duty game but being incredibly against their kid playing grand theft auto.
Ive been watching it from episode one straight through. Made it to 12 yesterday and watched 8 last week. Seasons 8 to 12 seem to have the most memes from it
Season 8 is one of the superior seasons and a lot of fans love it. However, I’m going to warn you that the next 14 seasons aren’t going to be as funny (Although I was fond of season 13 and the Coon Trilogy) as those seasons
The was the only episode of Southpark, where I read the synopsis in the TV guide before seeing the episode. And I immediately knew it was going to be a banger.
I love the episode, the animation, the music, the fight scenes but I struggle to rewatch because of what happens to Butters, I just feel so sorry for him
I remember first seeing this episode and my brothers and I immediately saw the parallel's of Let's Fighting Love and the G Gundam theme. One of the few dubbed anime series that not only kept the original soundtrack but even added subtitles. A bombastic ballad that was sung in Japanese except the English hook.
😂😂 RIGHT. Try not to fall down the rabbit hole that I did the last time the song got stuck in my head which was actually watching anime openings that had been dubbed with let's fighting love
Also if we do get that Ninja style in a South Park game it would work welll off of the professor chaos end scene from fractured but while as Professor Chaos is in this episode
When I was a kid, I owned the DVD copy of the first season and I would have watch it over and over. It was a running gag at the intro to every episode that this one is Matt and Tre’s favorite episode, so this could possibly be one of Thier favorites but it’s probably part of the gag.
Reminded me of when my friends and I made "weapons" out of scrap lumber with my dad's power tools. We had this one friend that would always just go way to hard and long story short he broke my nose and we were all trying to figure out how to now get in trouble.
This was the first episode of South Park I ever saw! I was at the local pool with my best friends and one of their brother’s watching it on a portable dvd player by the snack bar and I guess didn’t mind a couple of 12 year olds hanging out and watching with him. Wild times
Bro have you seen the live concert of south park songs? There's an amazing part in let's fighting love when the band stops playing to let the entire concert hall shout "protect my balls!" and I personally think this is one of the greatest achievements in human history
This was the first episode of South Park that i watched. I remember that i thought that all the episodes would be this kind of format. The kids decide what they want to play as for the day, and they get new alter ego's with every different adventure😅
Let me start by stating that one of my ringtones just so happens to be Let’s Fighting Love and honestly GTWW is such a great episode that i have three copies of it in total and on DVD. It’s easily one of my top five favorite episodes aside from Casa Bonita, Chinpokomon, Bloody Mary, and Make Love, Not Warcraft with honorable mentions like Raisins, Guitar Queer-O, Major Boobage, Crème Fraiche, and Humancentipad.
To me, my favorite South Park episode is Fishsticks but out of the episodes listed on your comment, I love Casa Bonita, Chinpokomon, and Make Love, Not Warcraft
@@cailieisidro5758 They really are great ones and dare i say some of the best episodes in my personal opinion but i completely forgot about that one until i read your comment. I’m also quite fond of the Fishsticks episode from the thirteenth season but it’s mostly because of how they kill Carlos Mencia, rip on Kanye West, and feature one of my all time favorite songs of the series Gay Fish.
@@cailieisidro5758 Yeah just the whole dynamic between Cartman and Jimmy throughout the episode was almost as good as all the episodes that paired Cartman with Butters like in Raisins and The Death Of Eric Cartman (season 9).

Many of the German Voice Actors from South Park (espacially Stan, Kyle and Kenny) also speaks for many Anime in the German Dub, mostly One Piece and Pokémon
No joke, this episode has helped me in my work with children on the Spectrum. I accept what they throw at me and don't ry to come out on top. It helps communication in that they see I understand what they're saying. I don't contradict them with whatever "powers" they have or overrule when they have too many (though I do let out a sarcastic quip). Then, sometimes, I gotta make them lose so they know how to follow rules other people make. Had one kid playing Rock, Paper, Scissors and waiting until the other kid threw his hand before throwing his own. No, no, no.
This is still one of my favourite or full on favourite episode of South Park. If there's one wish I have, it's to get a South Park game that takes inspiration from this episode. Preferably a fighting game.
This was the very first south park episode I saw when I was finally allowed to watch it as kid...such a good and funny episode to start with 😂 I still think of Butters going "awoof...woof woof" with a throwing star in his eye to this day

Parents didn’t mind their kids watching overt violence in movies or video games but the moment anything sexual was on there, it was an outrage. My biggest example being parents being fine getting their 12 year old kid a call of duty game but being incredibly against their kid playing grand theft auto.
Let’s fighting love.
Season 8 was the first South Park season I saw and it made me love the show. My fav season
The was the only episode of Southpark, where I read the synopsis in the TV guide before seeing the episode. And I immediately knew it was going to be a banger.
I have such fond memories of this episode. I agree its perfect and is one of my all time favorites.
I can’t help but to cry laughing every time it shifts from their imagination to butters with the star in his eye. Reminds me perfectly of being a kid
"Hey kid that knocks you down."
"Nuh-uh"
"Yuh-huh I got you!"
Probably my favorite South Park episode, so relatable! (glad no one almost lost an eye when I was a kid having good times with weapons)
I remember watching this episode for the first time, and cracking up so hard when Butters let out that wail when he got hit with the shuriken
Dammit Johnny, I just got the song out of my head XD
This episode hit when I was in Middle School, everyone was talking about it for months and comparing episodes to it
When I was a kid, I owned the DVD copy of the first season and I would have watch it over and over. It was a running gag at the intro to every episode that this one is Matt and Tre’s favorite episode, so this could possibly be one of Thier favorites but it’s probably part of the gag.
The cut when butter gets hit and starts screaming made me and my friends laugh so hard that we missed 2 minutes of the episode.
One of the best episodes. As an anime fan and a kid at the time it was amazing and still is.
This is in my top 5 if not my number 1. I cosplayed this version of Professor Chaos once.
Reminded me of when my friends and I made "weapons" out of scrap lumber with my dad's power tools. We had this one friend that would always just go way to hard and long story short he broke my nose and we were all trying to figure out how to now get in trouble.
This episode traumatized me when I was a kid and I think it's why I was so averse to South Park until I saw your videos
Butters screaming when he gets the Shuriken in his eye. Will always make me roll on the floor laughing.
This was the first episode of South Park I ever saw! I was at the local pool with my best friends and one of their brother’s watching it on a portable dvd player by the snack bar and I guess didn’t mind a couple of 12 year olds hanging out and watching with him. Wild times
I remember watching this as a kid when it dropped‼️Was one of my fave episodes ever then and still is now
I love that Cartmens only weaknesses was kyles ability to take away all his powers
I loved the hard cut with butters with the ninja star I was shocked and almost died crying
Let's fighting love is deffo gonna be on my Spotify wrapped this year 🤣
Butters getting hit in the eye with a ninja star might be the hardest I’ve ever laughed at a tv shoq
Bro have you seen the live concert of south park songs? There's an amazing part in let's fighting love when the band stops playing to let the entire concert hall shout "protect my balls!" and I personally think this is one of the greatest achievements in human history
I’ve never forgotten the lyrics to “Let’s Fighting Love” since I first heard it
This was the first episode of South Park that i watched.
@@timothymorris157 I believe those are the highlights of the Fishstick episode along with how the joke is made and Cartman making excuses
@@cailieisidro5758 Yeah just the whole dynamic between Cartman and Jimmy throughout the episode was almost as good as all the episodes that paired Cartman with Butters like in Raisins and The Death Of Eric Cartman (season 9).
I love Let’s fighting love it’s peak South Park
7:42 Fun Fact: In the German Dub of this Episode. They used a singer who sang real anime songs for the German Dub of many Anime.
He was Frank Schindel and he is mostly known for his German Digimon Openings.
Here the German Version of Let's Fighting Love:

Many of the German Voice Actors from South Park (espacially Stan, Kyle and Kenny) also speaks for many Anime in the German Dub, mostly One Piece and Pokémon
Funny and awesome
No joke, this episode has helped me in my work with children on the Spectrum. I accept what they throw at me and don't ry to come out on top. It helps communication in that they see I understand what they're saying. I don't contradict them with whatever "powers" they have or overrule when they have too many (though I do let out a sarcastic quip). Then, sometimes, I gotta make them lose so they know how to follow rules other people make. Had one kid playing Rock, Paper, Scissors and waiting until the other kid threw his hand before throwing his own. No, no, no.
You really had to be there for all the “Let’s fighting Love” AMV’s on RUclips in the early 2000’s
the song at the end of ur videos is a bop
An RPG in this style or set in Imagination Land needs to happen!
This is still one of my favourite or full on favourite episode of South Park. If there's one wish I have, it's to get a South Park game that takes inspiration from this episode. Preferably a fighting game.
This was the very first south park episode I saw when I was finally allowed to watch it as kid...such a good and funny episode to start with 😂 I still think of Butters going "awoof...woof woof" with a throwing star in his eye to this day
I know they say the machines are always listening but I just saw this last night and you drop this today...are you the machine?
