    Clarifications: cd /d for ALL drive letters. If your drive is F do cd /d f:
    Second if you want to find which drive that volume is from instead of list volume do list disk. Then you can do select disk 0 and then run detail disk to show the volumes

    just a quick tip for anyone running into this problem, make sure if you just installed a usb drive or anything of that sort, make sure that your system isn’t trying to boot off that usb that doesn’t have windows on it. it’s worth a shot and that’s probably the issue if you have a usb installed. probably useful to check if you don’t want to spend 30 minutes of your time doing this.:)

    This was essentially the fix for my system. However, I have multiple hard drives and my boot files also seemed to be corrupted. So, I had to do the following:
    > diskpart => list vol => select vol # (replacing # with the volume # of my windows partition) => active => exit;
    Followed by:
    > g: (setting to drive letter of my USB stick) => cd \boot (now I'm at g:\boot) => bootsect /nt60 f: /force /mbr (f is the drive letter of the partition containing my windows installation) => bcdboot f:\windows /s f: /f all (again, f is the windows partition) => exit
    HTH those with more complex disk partitioning etc.
    Herbetech, thank you for the helpful video!

    • @somebodythatyouusedtoknow9126
      @somebodythatyouusedtoknow9126 3 года назад +1

      so I changed the command to bootsect /nt60 c: /mbr and it worked. Said bootcode updated on all targeted volumes (along with bootcode is only updated on MBR partitioned disks. A different partitioning scheme is used on this disk ; physicalDrive0),but the issue is not fixed. I don't know what I'm missing here.

    Massive thanks, this video came to my aid today when my PC got this and nothing else would work. Fortunately I already had a Windows 10 install drive to hand, which sped things up considerably.
    The only one issue I had was that command prompt gave me errors saying it couldn't find the USB drive when I followed exactly the commands entered in this video.
    Instead of doing "cd /d d:boot" I had to drop the slash and navigate to my USB stick by just doing "cd d" and then once inside it "cd boot".
    Otherwise everything worked perfectly and I was back into my PC very quickly.

    Thank you! My dad once asked a great question: “so you need a another PC to fix your broken PC??” They suck like that. I feel bad for people who only have one computer. They live dangerously. So this didn’t work, at first. For bootsect it said it cannot install app screen. Wtf? Googling didn’t help because every solution was through Windows after it started up in it. Crap. Then an old forum for windows 7 got it right. Not “mbr” but “force” instead. If that doesn’t work, change “sys” to “all” and also “force”. That worked!

    Doing '>bootsect.exe /nt60 SYS /mbr' returned an error 'The partition was not found: The requested system device could not be found'
    Doing instead 'bootsect.exe /nt60 ALL' has resolved it and Windows boots again for now.

    Some people who didn't have success may forgot something:
    Open the .exe file and create the tool needed whether it is to a usb or dvd.
    BEFORE you select USB to boot in the BIOS, you need to create and download the said tool which may take a couple of hours.
    Some people are complaining "when i boot into USB, it still does the same thing". Make sure that you do that before you try to boot into USB because if you don't, then it will definitely not work.

    Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. In the BIOS my drive is popping up, and in the boot order, but when I go into command prompt, it doesn’t appear at all. I tried switching things around but no luck. Ended up having to wipe the drive (I didn’t have much on there) but what a shame. I hate having to resort to wiping a drive.

    I used to make the last command found an error. So I search for a new command. and work.
    "Diskpart"
    "Select vol C:" ( vol of your installed windows)
    "active"
    "exit "
    "F: " (go to usb boot )
    "CD \boot"
    "bootsect /nt60 c: /force /mbr"
    "bcdboot C:\Windows /s C: /f ALL "
    "exit" (Reboot computer)
    but anyway i thank you for a solution from you and made me try to fix it successfully.

    I like the video, but it would be OK to explain why u choose to use nt60 not nt52, why u chose MBR not UEFi cuz there are people out there using UEFI, few still use MBR, and the other was on the letters, specify when u used d/ d, d being your drive letter, so, u would explain the other "d" why it and its use, nonetheless, t was good, though not not understandable why u did what u did to fix the problem.
    Thanks anyway

    • @somebodythatyouusedtoknow9126

      so I changed the command to bootsect /nt60 c: /mbr and it worked. Said bootcode updated on all targeted volumes (along with bootcode is only updated on MBR partitioned disks. A different partitioning scheme is used on this disk ; physicalDrive0),but the issue is not fixed. I don't know what I'm missing here.
