i went from being convinced that ABR had lost on turn ~30, to watching him claw his way back to a winning position, to losing in a single moment to that final crit surf. what a rollercoaster. truly this is insane.
I was surprised last night to hear the brick walls start to shift and rumble. Little did I know Regirock was actually a part of my house. Regirock has returned home to his cave. Not only is there a terrible draft now, but I am self conscious at the number of times Regirock must have seen me touch myself.
That Jirachi was absolutely insane. Paralyzed on Turn 5 into 11 straight turns of avoiding para. Comes back on Turn 31 to be paraed into immediate crit fire punch thru the rain.
I can't overstate how entertaining this match was, props to you, Sapientia. I especially loved all of the off-meta picks--Ninjask w/ Breloom was incredibly hype, even though it didn't win the game (love you ABR). On another note, Jim and Tina are great commentators. I hope to see you both again, narrating the grand finals together; you guys really know the game!
let me get this straight: sapients is an old dude who played some third gen tournaments when the game released and now, years later, he destroys the whole community? insane.
If these semi-finals have taught me anything, it's that my love of Zapdos back in the day was fully justified. He's a king. These games were insane. Great play from both players, showing they were justified in being in the semi-finals.
excellent commentary duo. thank you xtina. thank you jimothy. excellent attention to detail with the music, guile theme. and the victory music at the end. incredible.
SPOILER: For me, Sapentia is coming in as a little bit of a heel to this finals. They've just gotten a LOT of hax going their way these last games, although they're obviously a good player. But I'm definitely rooting for McMeghan going into the finals. But most of all, I hope for a good fight
@@_Crowuh After that turn, Jirachi just ate paras for days, even hitting a crit Fire Punch on Magneton IN THE RAIN. That was insane luck imo. Jirachi won game 1 for Sapientia. He was definitely cooking in game 3 though I must admit
@@tannerhagen3881 Turn 1 forced Sapientia to rely on Jirachi, but ABR using T-wave made it so it was VERY unlikely that Jirachi would pull through. I would say Sapientia was luckier in game one
i mean, if you are the one attacking most of the time, it is more likely that you are the one that gets crits thats the benefit from a more proactive gameplay
Sapientia didn't get unlucky the first game, dude dodged like 15 consecutive para turns on Rachi. He also couldn't have subbed to berry game 2 on Hera. Regi was gonna boom and break the sub while Hera had 50% health, then either Celebi or Zap could have come in and killed it.
I think that the Gengar was physically invested (had no especial attacks) to kill Blissey with explosion and enable the Raikou but ABR adapted his game plan after Raikou got toxic. ABR makes me appreciate pokemon more such cool chess like maneuvers l!! Also good job to Sapientia for figuring it out!
Yeah, like the guy above said, it's to get more substitute opportunities from leech seed healing. Not to get more healing per se, but so leech heals a greater % of your max hp, giving you presumably more chances to put up a 25% hp sub
44 EVs in spe for abr's pert last game would have made the world of difference. that is a cool feature of mono-pert, tho: not having to run -Spe nature
They literally did, they said refresh most often is on monopert, which has one attaching move (surf), if you payed attention in school, you'd know 2 does not equal 1
@@tomgorey9294 and they don't do it for other instances, like "weather clear makes sense on a team with..." at 3:40 or "there could be a marowak in the back" when ninjask comes in.

This set was the cherry on top of a marvelous tournament.
We've seen not so common mons, game 1&3 were thrilling and the quality of play was stellar.
We're gaming to the highest level. Finals will be nuts!

Yeah I loved using this Pokemon since Pokemon Stadium 2 rentals (even with the huge nerf to legendaries). It's just so powerful and flexible
Suicune is my hero. Get your zap in after Suicune calm minded twice
Game 1 was insane folks. ABR is a legend for that endgame.

Isn’t having lower hp IVs strictly worse? Like the number you get back will look bigger but you have less hit points so you’re actually less bulky?
bulk doesn't matter since you're focusing on maximising your sub potential
Think about it like foul play damage, you want a - nature and min stats so you take less damage
