ban manaphy absolutely crushing it. that game 2 was incredible, excellent playing. the earthquake mispredict in game 3 looked tragic but manaphy took it in stride and ended up maneuvering swampert into the win. absolutely incredible, this was a joy to watch. this tournament is incredible i eagerly await each new match.
Best set of the tournament by far. Ban Manaphys creative teambuilding vs Soulwinds solid defensive play was such a blast to see. Nobody rushing for a win, looking to find the best plays and pushing each other to a high strategic field
amazing set! I CANNOT believe how many times Mana refused to ice beam the incoming Zapdos...they must have convinced themselves that surely Soulwind wouldn't immediately go Zap again...but she brought just enough brilliant and creative offensive tools to overcome Soulwind a 2nd time. I need to see then play again
@@Zetts no problem, I know soulwind's pronouns are he/him for sure... But mana I've never seen anyone correct he/him pronouns when he's been called that. I think mana was called "she" simply for the fact that manaphy is more of a girly pokemon and the woman avatar as well. Probably just best to use they/them if you want to be extra careful, but afaik it's he/him for mana too.
27:55 I was just relaxing in the comfort of my own home, and then I saw him. With joy in my heart, I said his name, "Ronflex", at the exact same time Jim did.
Mana has gained a new fan cause my gosh I loved the play style and call-out attempts at times. What a set this was folks. Two of the GOATs going at it will always be entertaining
Ban Manaphy is my new favorite player after watching this set. Leading Belly Drum Hyper Beam Snorlax and putting Mimic on Metagross is insane and worked surprisingly well. I also love to see Joleen representation because it’s one of my favorite mons. I think if they played a little more carefully in either game 2, they could have won.
I'm sure we've all thought about using Mimic to steal Spikes, but there's the problem of Protect, and also I'm not sure anyone ever thought, "Yeah, you know what, Metagross is the best mon for Mimic." Another inspirational choice.
Band is cool but it still only has a chance to OHKO bulky TTar sets. I love banded Zap on the ladder but in a tournament like this, you're better off avoiding the exploitable band.
cblax was experimented with as a lead for a brief moment but was realized to be no good as gengar is a viable turn 1 lax answer, this was a treat tho mana has brought light screen starmie before, they're a fan of that set, it's a more grounded in reality version of SEA's electrode the medi forre lead mu reminds me of one other tour set where the medi crit cb brick break'd the forre to next week, think it was a linear game forre baits mag-> dug trap -> still have a skarm is some mdragon stuff, very cool to see it again, that sequence often plays out exactly, though i'm sure mana has seen it before, even thought of using it even loving the curseperts in this tour so far, such a good adaptation to the standard defpert to apply some pressure (esp against cune lax and other such things like that)
i feel like soulwinds biggest issue is he is extremely predictable and the top players are going to feed off that. He is great at mons but everyone knows no matter the gen man is bringing a defensively leaning balance team
You mistake getting the plays wrong with throwing. At no point did Manaphy throw, hence them winning the game and set. Made some bad calls sure but that's gonna happen in a 100 turn game.
3rd game: feel like snorlax in on blissey to let Tyranitar get wished up was a throw from ban manaphy not hydro pumping whilst getting hp grass'd was also a throw but soul wind ended up being unable to press the advantage, probably particularly after tyranitar got paralyzed, but maybe trying to wish up tyranitar around that time was the game-ending error anyway, Curse Swampert is something of an underrated threat
Manaphy has dominated the ADV OU metagame for far too long
Unbelievable they haven't banned it yet to be honest
I play a gen before Manaphy was released and Manaphy is still dominant
This game made me a fan of ban manaphy teams , that mimic meta was so hilarious
42 minute video and hyper beam snorlax in the thumbnail. This is going to be a ride
Thanks to soul wind not playing anything offense at all, we got the 42 minute video
Okay that was the coolest Snorlax lead I have ever seen.

Zapdos did all the work in game 3, it was pretty much done at that point imo
Jim's stutter on "Hyper... BEAM?!" is top-tier content.
Snorlax: “Did I stutter”
The Hyper Beam Huddle is quite happy with this.
Best set of the tournament by far. Ban Manaphys creative teambuilding vs Soulwinds solid defensive play was such a blast to see. Nobody rushing for a win, looking to find the best plays and pushing each other to a high strategic field
Jim low-key spitting bars at 4:00
Rock slide going for the skarm beat down maybe get a few flinches in the mix
i thought drum beam was insane enough then mimic metagross starts spiking up
what the hell
Hyper Beam Snorlax is all you need to guarantee a watch.
This is peak Pokemon PVP
13:00 "The DD Tar is a fantastic tool to have in this endgame here" Jimothy says, as both players still have 5 mons. This is normal.
amazing set! I CANNOT believe how many times Mana refused to ice beam the incoming Zapdos...they must have convinced themselves that surely Soulwind wouldn't immediately go Zap again...but she brought just enough brilliant and creative offensive tools to overcome Soulwind a 2nd time. Mana is a guy... So is soulwind.
@@SpinelessVermin my bad, I thought I recalled hearing Jim refer to Mana with the she pronoun towards the end of the vid

that was such a good set, this is insane

I'll bet Soulwind had a thousand-yard stare as that Light Screen Starmie went onto the field.
Mana has gained a new fan cause my gosh I loved the play style and call-out attempts at times. What a set this was folks. Two of the GOATs going at it will always be entertaining
Really loved this one, Mana bringing some spice to the tournament and winning with it, against Soulwind no less
I think this is my favorite match ever, Mana's play style is so cool to watch

This was some insane gaming from both players. Awesome set to see
Mimic metagross is the tech we came for. Truely insane. Coolest set so far.
I wish I had the kind of freeze luck seen in that first game. I freeze the opponent into instant thaw every single time.
These were honestly super entertaining games. So many long, difficult lines both sides had to play out.
18:30 insanely hype
I'm sure we've all thought about using Mimic to steal Spikes, but there's the problem of Protect, and also I'm not sure anyone ever thought,
"Yeah, you know what, Metagross is the best mon for Mimic."
Another inspirational choice.
My favorite set of the tourney so far!
What a set! Some very fun & interesting team choices here.
This is gonna be a great one folks.
Finally a set that is truly insane, folks
Incredible set, all 3 games were amazing, as were the teams
I’m officially a Ban Manaphy stan. Watched the Callous Invitational round 6 set between these two and it was equally as insane. Mana is a goat
rooted so hard for ban manaphy here, glad she was able to pull through
love to see the interesting and less defensive teams win
For melee players: this match felt like some hbox vs llod stuff. Slow, methodical, but intense stuff.
i havent even finished game 3 yet but this manaphy cat is ballsy i like it
That physical Zapdos was insane, folks.
Normally they are choice banded to ohko tar with hp fighting, such a good mind game being able to swap moves. Insane
Band is cool but it still only has a chance to OHKO bulky TTar sets. I love banded Zap on the ladder but in a tournament like this, you're better off avoiding the exploitable band.
insane set, holy
Amazing set
incredible set wow
I once used dd hyper beam zard in ou when I was around 1500 elo in ou and won so many games because of its disrupting value.
cblax was experimented with as a lead for a brief moment but was realized to be no good as gengar is a viable turn 1 lax answer, this was a treat tho
mana has brought light screen starmie before, they're a fan of that set, it's a more grounded in reality version of SEA's electrode

forre baits mag-> dug trap -> still have a skarm is some mdragon stuff, very cool to see it again, that sequence often plays out exactly, though i'm sure mana has seen it before, even thought of using it even
loving the curseperts in this tour so far, such a good adaptation to the standard defpert to apply some pressure (esp against cune lax and other such things like that)
very cool set my fav yet
Holy awesome set
i think after watching this we can all agree that the best bulky steel spiker in adv is without a doubt... metagross?
i feel like soulwinds biggest issue is he is extremely predictable and the top players are going to feed off that. He is great at mons but everyone knows no matter the gen man is bringing a defensively leaning balance team
Love the balatro bgm
The fans love a game three!
100 turns of Gaming
holy cow what a set
This is why ADV is goated
hyper beam lax dipped in mana liz's chili oil
g2 was so nicely played
🔥🔥🔥
I am stealing that mimic metagross set
insane warning
Manaphy has been succesfully banned. Congrats, Ban Manaphy!
Ban Manaphy is the Heat to the Celtics.
But what was in the last ball?? We need answers.
mimmic metagross is insane
epic match
Ban Manaphy is my goat
For the algorithm
Manaphy should be banned i think
Mimic metagross is truly gaming
This set deserved a thumbnail too, it was glorious
ALMAVIENTO.
You mistake getting the plays wrong with throwing. At no point did Manaphy throw, hence them winning the game and set. Made some bad calls sure but that's gonna happen in a 100 turn game.
i didn't recall jim ever saying such a thing
Gaming?
it is indeed gaming.
@@appointmenteer that's so based
Folks.
Ban Manaphy's first team and play was inspirational, but then threw the match by keeping Jolteon in. What a shame.
She threw so that we could have 3 games, Mana is the people's champ
To be fair, that was an insane amount of turns to stay frozen.
3rd game:
feel like snorlax in on blissey to let Tyranitar get wished up was a throw from ban manaphy
not hydro pumping whilst getting hp grass'd was also a throw
but soul wind ended up being unable to press the advantage, probably particularly after tyranitar got paralyzed, but maybe trying to wish up tyranitar around that time was the game-ending error
anyway, Curse Swampert is something of an underrated threat
