I’ve seen a lot of complaining about the new announcements, and a few are a bit disgusting, but you did a good job.
I’m an era1 fan, and yes there been discussions about accuracy.
Historians getting upset , as well as Hornby being deaf on good advice, a bit sad in general.
But on the other hand I’ve being longing for so long to this era and I’m glad someone is finally taking initiative, it could have been better executed.
There are databases available, so Hornby is very lazy at their research.
On the other hand Rapido did not better is my opinion.
And I guess we’ll never get an historical correct model, the color alone is already a big problem, as no one knows it.
I would be very glad if they did a thoroughly research and consult the experts and the outcome of that, I would embrace as being perfect.
I would have rather seen the Planet made, but I’m also happy with nr.1 at least the caldron wagons from Accurascle get a very nice loco.
And people from other eras must not complain there is enough available to empty your pockets and nobody is twisting your arm to buy what you don’t like.

I could not believe my eyes when I watched the “Locomotion No 1”attempting to move on the track.
From what I can see the tender wheels are NOT moving !
Or were they moving that fast that they just appeared NOT to be moving?
If you all watched my video yesterday about Hatton’s I spoke directly to the topic of quality control and this example of what Hornby is dishing out it is totally an insult to our intelligence.
As I said “they must think we are daft”

hi, how they justify nearly forty pounds for the crane mounted on the wagon i don't know, luckily i have my old Triang one

I do wish the 08s were more reasonably priced, for that price I could get a full size loco from almost any other manufacturer, bit disappointing because I do like the IC 08.
Also Accurascale were supposed to have released their 89 which included GNER branding, but the shippings been pushed back.

I do want a shunter suitable for Era 6 at some point, as I don't have one. On first glance I thought the one in this announcement would fit the bill, but it's actually got a lot of as-preserved detailing meaning I need to be looking elsewhere.

@@DongitsModelRailway I have a Bachmann 03 in late crest green with wasp stripes (pre-TOPS so fits era 6), and although its a smaller shunter, if youre just looking for something to have for lighter shunting I would recommend it.

For those on a tighter budget, I do wish that the 08 would make a reappearance in the railroad range

Hi, Dongits model railway. Hope good Christmas plus a new year.
    Hornby 2024 range. My front.
Hornby 2024 range is poor but with it being caught up year all trains from 2020 to 2023 I hope do come out. I hope the Hornby J36 I have on order (A.ROD Livery 5662 Back in 2020 or 2021 B.65330 Limited Edition In British railway green letting, J36 Class.) (And R30137 BR, Class B17/5, and 61670 'City of London' back in 2023 All come out.) Can't wait to see Suprise Announcements throughout the year.
    Hope to get this year.
Things I like in this year's range got to be the Era1 coaches as they will go great with my Titfield Thunderbolt train. Good now don't need to buy the two rocket packs at £220 just to get the L&MR, Royal Mail Coach and L&MR, 2nd Class Coach want only around £45. Meaning I'm saving £350. looking at Tiger as now just get the tiger not with the stupid coal wagon just rocket tender paint brown with bit wood to cover up way the men would be putting coal into the train. To get tiger pack looking around £230 train being around £130 saved £100.
    Hornby Plase Look at this.
I was hoping this year four the T3 563 in LSWR green it at Swanage now. Or Y14 in GER blue 564 at the North Norfolk railway. New SR Z class in SR or BR. 8f in LMS Red or Br red it has Great Central Railway.
Hornby Bad part of Hornby Year 2024 range.
I think the Beatles range is just a waste of money as most younger people are not into Beatles music. Train and wagon pick are just bad too high on the money and super old tools. The only made sense was class 373 as one did have it back in 1999. The 70th Anniversary loco is just bad the same as the Beatles not even the right loco. I think Thompson is overpriced at £179.00 as I got one last year at a great election train show got one at £80 do like British Railway letting in green but at that price no.
Hornby Good part of Hornby Year 2024 range.
But do things good choose of Railroad as it helps get younger people and people nota lot money on them. But do things both Railroad packs are at £180.00 should come down to £140 and there should be three coaches in a pack not two. Do wish there did the coaches come with MR pack separately. Nice to see more class 67 livers as never got GBRF, or Queen one based on real life. Help to give people who like more modern fright train bigger choice to pick more train. I like steam train more but good to see class 34hst in GNER with 2022 tools as give people change like early Privatisation 1996-2008 some things to run. Do like the look of Derelict Farm Building looks good on my farm.

I picked up a lion pack in the sale for 127 quid. I think that's pretty good value, I am not a serious modeller at all. It will just run round an oval every now and then, mainly at Christmas. However my loco is squeaking and I'm waiting for Hornby to respond to my email. Pretty disappointing as this is my first brand new purchase from Hornby. The sound seems to be coming from one of the axles on the tender

Give it some oil, should take care of the squeak!

I heard someone say that for most people, Era 1 is Rule 1 ... and I think that's pretty much spot on.

@@Nick-vr2pf thanks, I do actually really enjoy servicing my locos but it did feel wrong to oil something brand new out of the box. I probably will give it a bit of an oil but I did also want to flag it to Hornby as soon as I got it, just in case there was something more to it.
I don't think I'll get locomotive 1 as it looks very delicate to handle but it is good to see them doing it as it will go down well with people like me who do like to collect things. I was really hoping someone would do a coppernob

    • @Nick-vr2pf
      @Nick-vr2pf 7 месяцев назад

@@evophantom Totally understandable. I feel the same, servicing is an enjoyable necessity, but on day 1 is annoying. Hornby's QC as of late has not been kind to those of us shelling out hundreds of pounds/dollars on their product.

It's hardly the most exciting new range is it? I really like B1 Mayflower but not at over £200.. Likewise, I have the grey version of 09 Dick Hardy, and it didn't cost £189! As for that Beatles tat, I think I'll let it be..

  • @chrisbaines6931

the range launch was utter dog shite. so much tat like the Beatles junk in it.
the only thing i've considered was the BR King but i'm not rushing out to buy that, i want to see some reviews first.

Nothing for the modern era modeller unless you want another Class 66 in a different colour. Nothing to attract new young modellers. And the loco's you used to get with your club subscription are now called "Connie" "Nellie" and "Polly" at £50 a pop!
