East Palestine, Ohio - Whelen WPS-2907 Siren Test - 30 Second Alert - 2/3/2024

Thank goodness I was here Feb 3, 2024 and not 2023, otherwise I'd probably be dying of cancer with a third arm or something. Anyways, I was down in EP on the 1 year anniversary of the terrible train derailment. Upon my arrival, I was shocked to see a brand new Whelen behind the fire station. When I visited the town last spring, the old 2001-DC was still standing and to my knowledge functionable. Curiosity got the best of me and I walked up to one of the firefighters out front washing the fire trucks and asked about the new siren. He said it got put up over the summer and he said it's apart of the township system which sounds "at noon." I had originally thought he meant every Saturday at noon (as it was a Saturday when I filmed this). Unity Twp has a system of 5 Vortex's and this 2907. A few years ago, I had inquired about a Model 5 in near by New Waterford (which is also in Unity Twp) had told me every day at noon too. I tried the Model 5; however, all I got was an ambiance of the Whelen's in the township. That was also on a Saturday. So for now it's a mystery to me if all 6 sirens in the township do a noon blast daily, or just a Saturday test. Anyways, this siren fired right up at noon for about 30 seconds. It was fairly punchy. Unity township does go off daily at 12. Only know this because I got to east Palestine schools for work once in a while, and each time I’ve been down there lately at noon, I hear the very awesome ambience at noon. Ngl it sounds good from the school campus
