Exacty, most people know a person like that so I think it's kinda fun that they gave us a character like that, since in later books there is almost no gossiping, or clan life in general just existing from plotpoint to plotpoint. And her not getting a mate might be just showing that she is so excited about all that stuff because she longs for that kind of relationship and experience herself but can't have it since no cat falls for her.
Not to imply that this was completely intended by the authors, but part of me likes to think that Rosetail got closer with Bluefur after Sweetpaw died. Like the boy gossip was something she used to do with her sister.
If people really want Rosetail to be genetically possible, just make her a chimera. She could always be headcanoned as an all-gray tabby who fused with a ginger sibling in the womb and has a bright orange tail because of it. There are a lot of funky "genetically-inaccurate" cat designs you could feasibly explain away with chimerism (even though it's actually pretty rare.) Edit: I just checked the wiki for her parents' coat colors and yeah, it checks out. Poppydawn is red and Windflight is a gray tabby so if her mom is heterozygous for dilute, Rosetail could reasonably have fused with a ginger brother or a tortoiseshell/calico sister who had a mostly-red tail. Also, if "pinkish orange" is the only description we have to go off of, you could also probably argue that Rosetail is actually a dilute tortie with really weird patterning and that her tail is cream instead of red. I don't think the Warriors cats themselves have a good grasp on their own genetics, so it's not impossible for them to describe a genetically cream cat with slightly brighter orange fur as "red" because all they have to go off of is their appearance. Hell, even I have a hard time picking out cream cats from ginger ones sometimes because the exact color of phaeomelanin coats can vary so much.

This is just a scientific explanation for the sticklers in this fandom who insist on realism so that everybody can be happy with Rosetail's wacky color.

He killed cats like Rosetail and Stonefur, yet both of these cats gave him lives during his leader ceremony. He seems to regret his choices…but that means nothing if he keeps making bad choices. I always thought he had a lot of potential to be more interesting to be honest.
I agree, he was always forgiven, despite time and time again doing bad things and he never got a GIGANTIC consequence (from what I recall, correct me if I'm wrong) and I think he really had potential to develop more and have more interesting plot points
blackstar is my favorite cjaracter for this reason. he has a lot of potential and was dealt a horrible deal with his father. if youve read yellowfangs secret you might remember how Blizzardfang, Blackkits dad was completely distant from him, and personally i believe thats why he was so easy to manipulate time and time again. idk im probably thinking this into this too much
I mean, when our gray cat had kittens they had orange splotches of fur on them. We named one Double Dip because the back legs were orange. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think a gray cat could have a tail like that. But at the end of the day I don't think it matters much. I like Rosetail enough, she's a character that kinda sticks to the mind for some reason, and I love the idea she's bi and a hopeless romantic. Even if canonically she never had a mate of her own, which is a shame tbh

I think Rosetail is so so fun. I've always imagined her like Glinda from Wicked. Just a sweet girl who's a bit overly excited when it comes to helping her friends, to the point where she can unintentionally be a bit pushy.

Hey Moonkitti! Can you please do a mini-talk about Thrushpelt? He had a crush on Bluefur and didn't flip out that Bluefur liked someone else unlike AshFur. When Bluefur told him that she was pregnant he automatically took on the role of the kit's father and I'm not sure this is Canon or not but I think Thrushpelt took care of Mosskit in StarClan. When the kits went missing it was said he mourned like a father. He is also a underrated character and is just a good boy.
To be fair, he should have been upset with Bluefur. After all, she was (at the time) breaking the Warrior Code, by seeing someone from a different clan, which they had been taught meant that she was unreliable.
I really, really want a Minnowtail mini talking. Obviously, she's a background character in RiverClan, so there isn't a _whole_ lot to say about her- but she does get a surprising amount of attention from the books, and is a relatively popular character, considering the circumstances. She was also Dark Forest trainee, and it's fun to speculate why.
I actually let out laughter of pure joy when you said "Bisexual romantically obsessed Rosetail" That made me WAY too happy. I know that wasn't intentional but this is probably the closest thing we have to a canon les/bi she-cat. (Other the leafpool and mothwing of course :3 )
Except it's not. Even if you ignore what they probably meant by saying "a cat", Rosetail's idea of a mate is one that can produce kits like every other character in the series. It's not homophobic to note that the Warrior Cats society thrives off the concept of a life and death cycle, requiring a need for kits constantly to support the numbers and survival of the clans. It would be incredibly hard to justify cats being of different sexualities when it's something not inherent in cats specifically. I don't mind cats like Jake and Tallstar being cannonically mates, because it's obvious that Tallstar had feelings for Jake, but in another mindset Jake later went on to father two litters of kittens so I guess Jake didn't care the same way about Tallstar that the windclan leader did. I wonder why they didn't just make a seperate cat. Weird.

But I want to say, while Rosetail is excited about kits (namely Bluestars) I don't think there was any indication that she was desprate to have her own if that was the case she would have found her own mate. Instead the path she chose was to care for all the kits in the clan, we know just before her death she is the guard of the kits den and she seems to take that role very seriously. Also the cats of warrior cats are barely cats. If they were they wouldn't be getting into large scale battles, have a singular mate or do much more then hunting and sleeping, maybe a little playing and grooming. Plus all the males wouldn't be in a clan, they'd all be rogues. Hell even in the made up warrior cats universe there are quite a few female cats who do not mate, like hollyleaf, firefern, freckelwish, other freckelwish, cloudmist, majority of medicine cats and of course Rosetail herself. You actually see a high prevalence of feral or farm female cats in reality form what many speculate being lifepartners between another female cat in there clowder. These two cats will still mate with males but they will come back together and raise there children together, typical staying together for life, grooming each other and sleeping next to each other, grieving if one dies. If that's not more of a human equivalate of a couple then the one night stand male and female cats have I don't know what is. Still I find it a dangerous game to ascribe too many human attributes to animals, they all have there own way of life, that would be foreign to us.
@hyena1373 The cats are personified, but that doesn't make them not cats. I'm also extremely surprised people still ship Barley and Ravenpaw due to all the predator callouts in warrior cats, as Ravenpaw was an apprentice when he met Barley, who was an older cat. I also genuinely think of Ravenpaw and Barley as a strong friendship, as there isn't any evidence they love eachother on a deeper level than maybe even a family dynamic. Jake and Tallstar do give off those vibes however and the author confirms she thought of them as mates.
Another simple mini-talk you can do: Frostfur. She was a queen for most of the books but she mothered some of the most popular characters. She also defended Fireheart and Yellowfang and supported Cloudkit staying in Thunderclan. Even though she barely had any screentime I really liked her as a kid.
Technically speaking, if we assume she is a dilute calico with a very unusual pattern, we can in fact have a grey cat with a ginger tail. Maybe her ginger patches are more subtle on the rest of her body or simply went unmentioned before.
Can you talk about pale bird? She gets a lot of hate for not taking care of tallkit but I really like her and I love the characters in tall stars revenge. She lost her kit and was suffering a lot, then she lost her mate but was able to find another one by the end of the book and I think it was really sweet

I really like this one, despite being a mini-talking. Also, I would love to see Tawnypelt next! She has a really interesting personality, and unlike a lot of others, she actually has a life. She has a mate, kits, and evil father, and because of that, I think her backstory has a lot to it. She also switched clans, which isn't common. Besides twigbranch. Oh twigbranch.

I would love a video about Goosefeather. You talked a little about him in Stormtail’s video, but I think he’s an interesting character! Being able to see dead cats. I thought it was interesting how when he was a kit he couldn’t tell the difference between the live and dead cats.
I always imagined her as a Sandstorm's mother. She would definitely hook up with a random cat outside of Thunderclan and have some spice in her NPC life.
This video just makes me appreciate Thrushpelt. He was never pushy with Bluestar/Bluefur, covered for Bluestar/Bluefur with her kits and generally was just an opposite Bumblestripe. It’s the bare minimum I know, but it’s nice to see a respectful male character for once.
I doubt I'll see it anytime soon, and I know you refuse to talk about Clear Sky, but what about his brother? Gray Wing is one of my favorite cats, and it'd be neat to see him get a talking about video.
Tbh, I love Rosetail. I think she is extremely underrated. She sacrificed her life for the kits but failed; atleast she tried though. She was an elder and shouldn't have even been fighting, but she did, and I respect that. She's not one of my favorite characters, but I still adore her.
Rosetail could be a dilute tortoiseshell; They *do* have creamy-red patches, and I'll just assume the erins don't know the differences between ginger/cream/gold/and other variations thereof.

I guess the tail is unlikely but that might work Edit: a dilute tortie would be pale smoky grey with creamy ginger patches. After observing some images that look like regular moggies (not a breed) I think she could have amber eyes too. I’m not an expert on cat genetics at all but I don’t think she is impossible.

There’s a difference between someone being born disabled and learning to be a warrior and someone who becomes disabled in the prime of their healthy young life and having to rest and lack exercise for a while and then relearn how to do everything BUT, I agree, cinderpelt didn’t necessarily have to become a medicine cat or stop warrior training completely. She can hunt, and all she would need is a buddy or two in battle like brightheart and cloudtail. That’s a good example of someone who becomes disabled and relearns warrior skills!!
Deadfoot had a dead front paw he could still slightly walk on or hold up. Cinderpelt had a twisted back leg that she could only drag around post injury. These two things are not the same.

@@brolylook This is a good point, and it's my main argument for why Jayfeather would have made a fine warrior. Longtail retiring, if not forced, makes sense to me. After all, he was one of the older warriors by the time of his blindness. However, Jayf here was born blind, he doesn't have to get used to it. He can already get around fine by the start of Po3. A bit unrelated, but hey, it's important to me.
Crookedstar or Pinestar because Crookedstar was rejected by his mother and that is an emotionally scaring thing to have happen to a CHILD! Pinestar because he was just so chill about becoming a kittypet, like, "I'm gonna do this because no one has said I can't," also he went agent the (unspoken) rules/discrimination agent kittypets so he could be happy.
I think it would cute if either she was a medicine cat or if we had a boy-crazy gossip-crazy matchmaker medicine cat using that as an outlet for not being able to have a mate lol
I know this is a mini-talking video and my opinion is meaningless but I think it'd be cool if you talked about the ark one elders. One-Eye, Halftail (I hate how I don't remember any others). Along with the fact that they had terrible names and were fine with it, the other clans kinda just... LEFT THEM TO DIE IN THE NEW PHOPHECY. One-Eye also kinda saved Brighthearts mental life by telling fireheart/star about the name changing thing. Tbh I want you to talk about one-eye... But the others were cool too!
Honestly, Rosetail is one of my favorite characters. I mean, she's a literal cat shipper and I think it's funny. and also I think she's the prettiest cat in the books, I don't care if it's unrealistic, she's gorgeous
At this point, any "genetically inaccurate" fur/eye pairings should just be written off as this specific population of cats having a particularly high chance for chimerism. Maybe that's why they tend to have such small litters compared to actual cats. /hj

YEAAAAAAAAAAAH ROSETAIL BI ROSETAIL YES As a side note, I don't think at the end of the day warrior cats genetics matter, but if I were to throw my hat into the ring just for a second, I think she could be a chimera cat (not like the famous one Venus, that one is a natural morph of a tortie). I've seen grey/white cats with red patches (even red tails!) before, because they fuse with their sibling and only express a handful of their genes. Possibly Rosetail absorbed Poppydawn's secret dark red child, haha.

And also about the gray queen, I always thought that that was Brindleface because it didn't say specifically that she had stripes, only markings and markings could be either stripes or speckles like what Brindleface has. And they really missed an oppurtunity to make Rosetail related to Redtail.
I think the "tabby queen with distinctive black markings" is either Brindleface or Speckletail; they are both listed as tabbies in the allegiances. The kits mentioned are most likely Frostfur's since at this time they are the youngest in the nursery. But you know warriors better than me, so who knows.

Rosetail is a favourite character of mine. I just REALLY like her tail. It’s pretty colours and I also just like cats with different coloured tails. It’s funny to imagine what they’d actually look like.
i wonder why not call rosetail a "dilute tortoiseshell"? that checks off the gray body and even the pinkish-orange tail, since the dilution gene makes gingers more cream-like in tone. her pattern is still unusual as typically torties' ginger and brown or black is much more mixed up, but her color is totally possible!
Yeah, I've looked at a lot of pics of dilute calicos while designing my own cat character, and there's definitely variation in how the dilute ginger gets expressed. Most commonly pale creamy orange, sometimes golden yellow (like my character) and once, I found a pic of a dilute calico tabby kitten with... Wait for it... Orangey pinkish legs! So rosetail being a dilute tortie tabby makes perfect sense to me
As a child/young teen I thought that Rosetail is the mother of Redtail. My mind just went "Oh, both have a redish tail. He must have gotten it from his mother. How sweet". I believed it until I read Redtails Debt and came to know that this isn't the truth. Was kinda shocked aboit it tbh
I can say from personal experience that a subsection of warrior cats tumblr exploded when Rosetail’s design was changed lol. Also I love Rosetail! She, Applefur and Snowbird are probably my favorite background cats. Idk I feel like we don’t get a lot of gossip characters I thought she was fun

Hey Moonkitti! Can you please do a mini-talk about Thrushpelt? He had a crush on Bluefur and didn't flip out that Bluefur liked someone else unlike AshFur. When Bluefur told him that she was pregnant he automatically took on the role of the kit's father and I'm not sure this is Canon or not but I think Thrushpelt took care of Mosskit in StarClan. When the kits went missing it was said he mourned like a father. He is also a underrated character and is just a good boy.

To be fair, he should have been upset with Bluefur. After all, she was (at the time) breaking the Warrior Code, by seeing someone from a different clan, which they had been taught meant that she was unreliable.

I really, really want a Minnowtail mini talking. Obviously, she's a background character in RiverClan, so there isn't a _whole_ lot to say about her- but she does get a surprising amount of attention from the books, and is a relatively popular character, considering the circumstances. She was also Dark Forest trainee, and it's fun to speculate why.

I think Rosetail’s design is cute actually I like when they make unnatural designs that are cute (which is rarely).

That made me WAY too happy. I know that wasn't intentional but this is probably the closest thing we have to a canon les/bi she-cat. (Other the leafpool and mothwing of course :3 )
Except it's not. Even if you ignore what they probably meant by saying "a cat", Rosetail's idea of a mate is one that can produce kits like every other character in the series.
It's not homophobic to note that the Warrior Cats society thrives off the concept of a life and death cycle, requiring a need for kits constantly to support the numbers and survival of the clans. It would be incredibly hard to justify cats being of different sexualities when it's something not inherent in cats specifically.
I don't mind cats like Jake and Tallstar being cannonically mates, because it's obvious that Tallstar had feelings for Jake, but in another mindset Jake later went on to father two litters of kittens so I guess Jake didn't care the same way about Tallstar that the windclan leader did. I wonder why they didn't just make a seperate cat. Weird.

There’s actually been cases of homosexuality in cats, but either way the OP was just talking about head cannons so it’s kind of hard to argue against that.
@@madisonlange8053 I mean canonically there's also ravenpaw and Barley. But I want to say, while Rosetail is excited about kits (namely Bluestars) I don't think there was any indication that she was desprate to have her own if that was the case she would have found her own mate. Instead the path she chose was to care for all the kits in the clan, we know just before her death she is the guard of the kits den and she seems to take that role very seriously.
Also the cats of warrior cats are barely cats. If they were they wouldn't be getting into large scale battles, have a singular mate or do much more then hunting and sleeping, maybe a little playing and grooming. Plus all the males wouldn't be in a clan, they'd all be rogues. Hell even in the made up warrior cats universe there are quite a few female cats who do not mate, like hollyleaf, firefern, freckelwish, other freckelwish, cloudmist, majority of medicine cats and of course Rosetail herself.
You actually see a high prevalence of feral or farm female cats in reality form what many speculate being lifepartners between another female cat in there clowder. These two cats will still mate with males but they will come back together and raise there children together, typical staying together for life, grooming each other and sleeping next to each other, grieving if one dies. If that's not more of a human equivalate of a couple then the one night stand male and female cats have I don't know what is. Still I find it a dangerous game to ascribe too many human attributes to animals, they all have there own way of life, that would be foreign to us.
@hyena1373 The cats are personified, but that doesn't make them not cats. I'm also extremely surprised people still ship Barley and Ravenpaw due to all the predator callouts in warrior cats, as Ravenpaw was an apprentice when he met Barley, who was an older cat.
I also genuinely think of Ravenpaw and Barley as a strong friendship, as there isn't any evidence they love eachother on a deeper level than maybe even a family dynamic.
Jake and Tallstar do give off those vibes however and the author confirms she thought of them as mates.

Another simple mini-talk you can do: Frostfur. She was a queen for most of the books but she mothered some of the most popular characters. She also defended Fireheart and Yellowfang and supported Cloudkit staying in Thunderclan. Even though she barely had any screentime I really liked her as a kid.

I like to think the reason why rosetail always talks about boys is because she’s covering up the fact that she likes gorls

Technically speaking, if we assume she is a dilute calico with a very unusual pattern, we can in fact have a grey cat with a ginger tail. Maybe her ginger patches are more subtle on the rest of her body or simply went unmentioned before.
Can you talk about pale bird? She gets a lot of hate for not taking care of tallkit but I really like her and I love the characters in tall stars revenge. She lost her kit and was suffering a lot, then she lost her mate but was able to find another one by the end of the book and I think it was really sweet
I think she mightve had post-partum depression, and of course losing her kit so soon after did not help.
Just because she was hurt doesn't excuse her actions. She was a good partner but a negligent parent. One doesn't have to exist without the other

Yes hard agree!! She's sort of similar to Sparkpelt, in that she suffered hard with depression, but the fandom's misogyny presents her as an awful, unreasonable person

Also, I would love to see Tawnypelt next! She has a really interesting personality, and unlike a lot of others, she actually has a life. She has a mate, kits, and evil father, and because of that, I think her backstory has a lot to it. She also switched clans, which isn't common. Besides twigbranch. Oh twigbranch.

I would love a video about Goosefeather. You talked a little about him in Stormtail’s video, but I think he’s an interesting character! Being able to see dead cats. I thought it was interesting how when he was a kit he couldn’t tell the difference between the live and dead cats.

Tbh, I love Rosetail. I think she is extremely underrated. She sacrificed her life for the kits but failed; atleast she tried though. She was an elder and shouldn't have even been fighting, but she did, and I respect that. She's not one of my favorite characters, but I still adore her.
Rosetail could be a dilute tortoiseshell; They *do* have creamy-red patches, and I'll just assume the erins don't know the differences between ginger/cream/gold/and other variations thereof.
She could be a weird tortoiseshell right? They can be grey and light ginger. I guess the tail is unlikely but that might work
Edit: a dilute tortie would be pale smoky grey with creamy ginger patches. After observing some images that look like regular moggies (not a breed) I think she could have amber eyes too. I’m not an expert on cat genetics at all but I don’t think she is impossible.
She’s a gray-cream tortoiseshell. Most torties have an even mix of colors, but it’s by no means a requirement.
Her tail would have to be cream/pale ginger and not ginger to be a gray cream tortoiseshell

There’s a difference between someone being born disabled and learning to be a warrior and someone who becomes disabled in the prime of their healthy young life and having to rest and lack exercise for a while and then relearn how to do everything
BUT, I agree, cinderpelt didn’t necessarily have to become a medicine cat or stop warrior training completely. She can hunt, and all she would need is a buddy or two in battle like brightheart and cloudtail. That’s a good example of someone who becomes disabled and relearns warrior skills!!
Deadfoot had a dead front paw he could still slightly walk on or hold up. Cinderpelt had a twisted back leg that she could only drag around post injury. These two things are not the same.

@@brolylook This is a good point, and it's my main argument for why Jayfeather would have made a fine warrior. Longtail retiring, if not forced, makes sense to me. After all, he was one of the older warriors by the time of his blindness. However, Jayf here was born blind, he doesn't have to get used to it. He can already get around fine by the start of Po3.

Crookedstar or Pinestar because Crookedstar was rejected by his mother and that is an emotionally scaring thing to have happen to a CHILD! Pinestar because he was just so chill about becoming a kittypet, like, "I'm gonna do this because no one has said I can't," also he went agent the (unspoken) rules/discrimination agent kittypets so he could be happy.
I think it would cute if either she was a medicine cat or if we had a boy-crazy gossip-crazy matchmaker medicine cat using that as an outlet for not being able to have a mate lol
I know this is a mini-talking video and my opinion is meaningless but I think it'd be cool if you talked about the ark one elders. One-Eye, Halftail (I hate how I don't remember any others). Along with the fact that they had terrible names and were fine with it, the other clans kinda just... LEFT THEM TO DIE IN THE NEW PHOPHECY. One-Eye also kinda saved Brighthearts mental life by telling fireheart/star about the name changing thing.

Honestly, Rosetail is one of my favorite characters. I mean, she's a literal cat shipper and I think it's funny. and also I think she's the prettiest cat in the books, I don't care if it's unrealistic, she's gorgeous
At this point, any "genetically inaccurate" fur/eye pairings should just be written off as this specific population of cats having a particularly high chance for chimerism. Maybe that's why they tend to have such small litters compared to actual cats. /hj
Shaded Moss is a great character but definitely would be a short video as he only lives during half of the Sun Trail, but maybe combining that with Rainswept Flowers life and death. Cheers and happy holidays!

As a side note, I don't think at the end of the day warrior cats genetics matter, but if I were to throw my hat into the ring just for a second, I think she could be a chimera cat (not like the famous one Venus, that one is a natural morph of a tortie). I've seen grey/white cats with red patches (even red tails!) before, because they fuse with their sibling and only express a handful of their genes. Possibly Rosetail absorbed Poppydawn's secret dark red child, haha.

I think the "tabby queen with distinctive black markings" is either Brindleface or Speckletail; they are both listed as tabbies in the allegiances. The kits mentioned are most likely Frostfur's since at this time they are the youngest in the nursery. But you know warriors better than me, so who knows.

i wonder why not call rosetail a "dilute tortoiseshell"? that checks off the gray body and even the pinkish-orange tail, since the dilution gene makes gingers more cream-like in tone. her pattern is still unusual as typically torties' ginger and brown or black is much more mixed up, but her color is totally possible!
Yeah, I've looked at a lot of pics of dilute calicos while designing my own cat character, and there's definitely variation in how the dilute ginger gets expressed. Most commonly pale creamy orange, sometimes golden yellow (like my character) and once, I found a pic of a dilute calico tabby kitten with... Wait for it... Orangey pinkish legs! So rosetail being a dilute tortie tabby makes perfect sense to me

As a child/young teen I thought that Rosetail is the mother of Redtail. My mind just went "Oh, both have a redish tail. He must have gotten it from his mother. How sweet".
