    Great video! Just a warning to the audience that I had major issues running my 2004 Sportster without that cover. Not sure why but as soon as I did heard all kinds of backfiring and other not so great sounds. Not sure if I had a different model or what those were. Also, don’t spray directly into the intake while it’s running (especially at a low throttle, it seems my throttle was too low and i sprayed too directly into the intake) causing more issues and loud sounds. It seems I’m the idiot but just in case anyone else is out there looking for what tips not to do for those who might not have watched closely enough before trying 😂

      Happy to help. A big problem most sportsters is over filling the oil. Make sure you are halfway on your oil dipstick. It makes a big difference. Run your fingers under your air cleaner if there's oil on them, take to cover and clean your air filter and check your oil level it makes a big difference when you run too much oil in Sportster's. intake cleaner will do no damage to a carbureted bike...Just cost more than carb cleaner. And used on injected bikes.

    I’m new to servicing/riding. So forgive me if this is a silly question. But wouldn’t spraying that cleaner and removing all that gunk from the air intake and then starting it just be sucking all that dirt/debris even further in and into the engine?

    • @TwoWheelRocco
      @TwoWheelRocco  5 лет назад +1

      I do it as a 3000 to 5000 mile maintenance with my oil and filter change. Just clean the sensor that's what is important. Then it is burn off in your combustion chamber. No harm, Just like your PVC valve works.

    Hey Rocco, what would you recommend on a 2012 HD , 1200 Custom sportster that has been siting down garaged..It starts..Battery is good..What would you recommend on maintenance before I can take it out..Thanks

      Great motorcycle XL1200 Custom. Fresh gas. charge battery, Start the motorcycle for like few minutes. check oil. Take her for a ride around the block. Check the oil level again. . The reason you took it for around the block, to let the oil calculate. This will give you a true oil reading I like it halfway on the dipstick. Harley Davidson motor are dry sump motor so over time oil will settle into the bottom of motor so if you check the oil prior starting it would read low. Any questions just ask. Good luck with your new ride. Thank you for watching and your sub Africano39. Let us know how things work out. Ride safe and have a great day.
