Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-47), Sonata Nr. 4 in B-Dur, op. 65, 3. Satz Allegretto.

The recording of the 4th Sonata in B flat major was made on the large Rieger organ in the Basilica Vierzehnheiligen, Bad Staffelstein. The instrument, built in 1999, combines 69 stops on four manuals, including three Chamades (16', 8' and 4') on the Bombard (fourth manual), on which the Glockenspiel can also be played. The first and third manuals are a swellable, colorful Positiv and a French-designed Schwellwerk respectively.
The third movement of the sonata, marked Allegretto and in 6/8 time, has, like the second movement, an audible song-like character. Continuous semiquavers play around the melody, which moves from the upper voice to the middle voice. In the piece, (initially taking the form of a trio), the song melodies then sound together and are brought together in five voices shortly before the end.
Die Aufnahme der 4. Sonate in B-Dur entstand an der großen Rieger-Orgel in der Basilika Vierzehnheiligen, Bad Staffelstein. Das im Jahr 1999 gebaute Instrument vereint auf vier Manualen 69 Register, darunter drei Chamaden (16’, 8’ und 4’) auf dem Bombardwerk (viertes Manual), auf dem auch das Glockenspiel spielbar ist, ein schwellbares, farbenreiches Positiv sowie ein französisch disponiertes Schwellwerk.
Der dritte Satz der Sonate, Allegretto bezeichnet und im 6/8-Takt, hat wie der zweite Satz auch hörbaren Liedcharakter. Durchgängige Sechzehntel umspielen die Melodie, die von der Oberstimme in die Mittelstimme wandert. In dem zunächst als Trio angelegten Stück erklingen dann die Liedmelodien gemeinsam und werden kurz vor Schluss fünfstimmig zusammengeführt.
