@@michaelbiland5575 Portal lego dimension had a good story that happend after portal 2! I think that they could had made portal 3 but I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY NOT! Like yeah it can be hard to get new levels but its not impossible! This game was such a big success and just cuz don't think of levels or what to do for 5 min shouldn't end the project
At the end of this year, Valve is going to straight away put Half life 3, Portal 3, Team fortress 3, and Left 4 Dead 3 on sale in steam. All, at, once. With no trailer or announcement.
"WOAH .... Hello? Can you see the portal gun? .... Also are you alive? that's important I should'a asked that first" lol I love Stephan Merchant, perfect voice for the game :D
@xXCraig482Xx Yes, the single player part of the game is around twice as long, and the co op is around that same time frame, I personally did not play co op yet.
As much as I miss Portal, the way it made my brain feel, it's cool atmosphere & the love I grew for Glados, I'm not sure Portal 3 would work. As they stand, Portal & P2 are flawless. What's left to achieve? The ONLY way they could make it work, is if they adapted it to natural surrounds like in deserts, Rainforests, if you became miniature, etc. But it can't be about the same girl again. If they make it, it can't be for money.
gnarkilleptic I think what are friend means is it needs to have purpose yes all games are suppose to make money but the people who actually have real stories to tell and not cash in are the ones that stand the test of time
Yes, if they could make a whole city your playground, for example, along with an improved or expanded portal gun, in which you have to find ways to dispatch enemies creatively as you progress through the city and come across all kinds of wild and crazy scenarios throughout the post-apocalyptic surroundings, all made with Valve style! Like The Last of Us, Fallout, and Portal blended together, as long as Wheatley is our traveling companion! Hell yeah...
For some reason I always have problems with Gamespot videos not playing or playing for a few seconds then pausing. I have no idea why this would be since it's all on youtube but just thought I'd mention it. Every video I've played this evening has worked except 3 Gamespot ones. Does my laptop have some sort of technical prejudice against these fine folks?! ..After waiting 4 minutes this videos finally started playing. Solid review!
@MadSkeelz16 Yes, it's still worth it to buy the game now. Valve has been known to make games that last for 10++ years. Since Portal 2 has been out for only 1.5 years, theres no reason NOT to buy it since there are still people playing this game.
@rocketboy334 I recommend it, you'll understand the concept, because they walk you right into the portal gun, while in this game, newbies may be confused. Portal is free on Steam, (or atleast it used to be) so if you can get Portal, you should, if you can't, just get Portal 2.
@AORMETALGORE I do, cause the engine was very well made. I've said it else where, I think it's great they're evolving the old engine rather then making a new one. This way they keep it very compatible with a wide range of machines and still present an amazing looking game. It's far from looking "shitty".
@PaulHasyn ok thanks i guess i can look up the story online or i can play it ....is the first one for xbox or pc and yea i know you have to pay for online but i herd xbox has really good online stuff. Do you have xbox live?
@TheDXW250 1. The writing is brilliant, especially for a video game, where successful humor is rare. And I mean it, it's damn funny. 2. The puzzle solving is incredibly satisfying and challenging, yet simple enough for anyone to play it. 3. The whole atmosphere is just awesome, I can't really describe that one, you'd have to play the game for a while to understand that. 4. Co-Op is the definition of brilliant multiplayer. 5. "no action". Uh, play the game and tell me that again. 6. BUY IT.
@ibyOFshieldz I would recommend playing portal 1 first (for story reasons) and to get the basics of portal. it's very cheap these days. portal 2 is better than portal1 in almost every way but playing portal 2 without playing portal 1 is like watching lord of the rings 2 without seeing 1 (maybe not that extreme) but you get the idea. trust me it sounds confusing first time you hear but once you get the basics it is actually quite easy and enjoyable (anyway they're are always online walkthroughs)
i just bought a xbox 360 and im going to get two games. one of those is mortal kombat 9 and im thinking about getting this one.... i never play the first one ...do you guys still recommend it
can someone tell me if their is a mode where u choose which levels and unlock more levels that get harder and harder? or is it just single player adventure mode and coop?
@metalheadgazboyle Nope, Valve understood they shouldn't continue that joke. But some people are trying to (Hopelessly) save it with a deer, you'll understand when you get it and play through it.
I love Valve. They might not pump out games left and right, but everything they give us is top-notch and memorable. Can't wait to see this game in person. I feel like I am already that talking basketball's best buddy.
@Fultzyy While the game is worth the $60, rent it. You'll finish both modes easily within a week and if you ever want to play again just fork over another $9.99 to rent it, or wait for a sale. But the main point is get this game any way you can and play now, right now.
@Alfyfredde If you would of bothered to scan the page before deciding to post a comment, you'd of seen who i was replying too & the reason for said reply, we were not talking about Portal 2 whatsoever. He began by slating one console to which i defended by pointing out it's vast superiority. All you have to do is read both comments. So, not sure what you're gripe is. He bashed something i defended, but we're you're issue comes in i don't know, can't work out what ruffled your feathers.
@PinballCollection I thought the load times were pretty damn short on the console version I played too!! Seemed like only about 5 to 10 seconds between levels.
"Let there be light, god, quoted god, ill make it go up, oh no don't worry, don't wory, i've got it, i've got it, i've got it! this should slow it down! No, makes it go faster" EPIC
@jdlw09 Time to debunk your little tirade. 1. Portal (and Portal 2) may "PLAY" better on PC, but each version had its own development team. 2. Portal 1 was released with "The Orange Box" collection of games on the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 in 2007. 3. Again, Portal WAS on the PS3 via "The Orange Box". There is no "favorite" version of Portal that gets most of the developer's attention; all versions are worked on equally by different teams. Why is Portal 2 multiplatform? More profitable that way.
@zaptaptwo because it is one of the best story driven puzzle games ever created and its by valve the award winning game developers that created the half life series which is tied in with this game
@Profoundsoup Definetly, not only is it an awesome game but it will help you understand the second one a lot more. First one comes as one of the 5 games in the Orange Box, just in case you didn't know =) Although you might be able to get it from XBLA, not sure
Isn't it confusing when you make the 2 portals and go through one and pop out the other... Doesn't it confuse you when you go through and you gotta look around to not be confused?... Not sure wether to get this?
@hahahahva I did not rushed at all. I did enjoyed it very much. But the puzzles were not that challenging making me go through them quite fast. I spend a decent amount of time waiting for the characters to say something. It was awesome. But way to short IMO.
@KarmaChameleon033 get portal 1 and 2. it is an incredible experience (it's not the destination that counts, it's the journey) just make shore you have a good pair of speakers as half the experience of portal is in it's writing and audio. the story is important but unless he showed you actual cutscenes than it is still worth experiencing even if you know how it ends.
I don't understand why people hate it when the puzzles get harder. Yes, you have to use your brain a little bit and maybe have some patience, but the satisfaction of solving it is awesome. What I really like about portal 2 was that it was the right mix of easy and hard puzzles. And also, the puzzles always seemed to serve as part of the story rather than simply fillers. Every single part of this game was a masterpiece and emotionally satisfying.
Guys, should i buy this game? i've never played portal 1 and i know nothing about the story/characters. All i know is that we have to go through portals and complete the puzzle. this game really looks awesome, so i' wondering is there a guide for newbies like me during the starting of the game and recap some of the story that was on portal 1? thx!
@DarknessAlchemist00 same here..it would be nice if these review sites actually did what they're supposed to do and inform us on each version..especially when one version offers something that the other does not
@ibyOFshieldz Get it.. You'll love it haha. Plus it's not confusing once you get used to it .. I suggest playing the first one first though, storyline will make alot more sense.
1:08 I love how usually nobody notices that GLaDOS removes the High Energy Pellet Dispenser and receiver and replaces them with the Lazar Dispenser and Receivers.
@KiloByte69 yeah, I was being sarcastic since games load so fast and not as much as they used to. Take a look at the Neo Geo CD console. The only way to eliminate loading times all together is to go back to cartridges or to load the games right off the HDD.
@DukeNukem2020 I completely agree actually, I was just stating that Portal 2 has good graphics, they r not as bad as people claim it to be. But yeah gameplay is a more important factor that graphics and Portal 2 scores points from me for graphics and gameplay! :)
Aperture Science Long Fall Boots, they are awesome and allow you to fall several thousand meters without all that many injuries. In Portal 1 Chell had Aperture Science Advanced Knee Replacements.
@Tunerboy8732 You should definitely give it a chance. I just beat the first Portal last night and I'll definitely be picking this one up. It's worth it dude, for the unique gameplay mechanics as well as the dialogue. Try it!
Here's the thing Valve don't know how to count to 3 .
Lol yeah i figured that out also
portal 3. i wanna see it.
If it gets announced, great. If it doesn't.... Well, I can understand. Portal 2 already expanded upon the portal gameplay mechanic enough.
@@michaelbiland5575 Portal lego dimension had a good story that happend after portal 2! I think that they could had made portal 3 but I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY NOT! shhhh .... thats a secret .
we gotta whisper,
dont say anything we have to be very very quiet about those details.
I heard it's gonna be another orange box...
CreaTED Productions the blue box
John Haward lel 3 years later... no portal 3 :p
If only :(
I've never laughed harder at a game than at 9:20 - 9:27. Absolutely brilliant.
There was no way I could beat this game without that smooth jazz.
is this game worth it if you don't intend to play the co-op part?
Definitely
+Adam Poole (animeguy4ever) There's community maps and the game is cheap so yes.
Definitely, the game is definitely short but it's one of the greatest 4-6 hours I've ever had in a video game
"WOAH .... Hello? Can you see the portal gun? .... Also are you alive? that's important I should'a asked that first" lol I love Stephan Merchant, perfect voice for the game :D
@Assassincas Actually, it's also an "online game" as it has co-op...which is supposed to be just as long as the single player.
yeah um the "catapults" was repulsion gel and the "bridges of light" were emancipation grids. yes there are light bridges but those weren't them
smooth jazz... what a way to go
@xXCraig482Xx Yes, the single player part of the game is around twice as long, and the co op is around that same time frame, I personally did not play co op yet.

@Upsilon927 me too. it is very much possible. the tools provided are enough
@Zackysonofallgames yea it has the same type of voice as stewi

"thats, uh, God...I was quoting God." lol
@gamespot do you recommend playing portal first or can i just jump right in?
Abondif play portal 1 first
you forgot to mention that the "metal basketball" is voiced by god damn Stephen merchant! genius
@PaulHasyn ok thanks i guess i can look up the story online or i can play it ....is the first one for xbox or pc and yea i know you have to pay for online but i herd xbox has really good online stuff. Do you have xbox live?

wow, I also wait for glados or wheatly to finish what they're saying before continuing
@Gdayguy36 no :L i meant im not in skwl anymore so i dnt need to write properly unless for something serious or work
i just bought a xbox 360 and im going to get two games. one of those is mortal kombat 9 and im thinking about getting this one.... i never play the first one ...do you guys still recommend it

@LoneWhiteWolf13 The voice actor is Stephan Merchant :)
can someone tell me if their is a mode where u choose which levels and unlock more levels that get harder and harder? or is it just single player adventure mode and coop?
@ChuckNorris813 they are giving you a warning before the video. This is just an advice. NEVER look at a review if you dont want spoilers. :)

@vilkku3 Yes.
And the original portal if you dont have it.
@PinballCollection I thought the load times were pretty damn short on the console version I played too!! Seemed like only about 5 to 10 seconds between levels.
@metalheadgazboyle unfortunatly i have not found any yet. theres a companion cube though

@Travaillons Well, I'm a senior in college and work as an editor for an academic journal. It's just my opinion.
@VaconCamp whats bad about duke i think it looks good
@MolesMalone Yes! It made me want this game even more when i saw the first trailers.
@DarknessAlchemist00 same here..it would be nice if these review sites actually did what they're supposed to do and inform us on each version..especially when one version offers something that the other does not
lol at the metal basketball wanting to go on the stick :P
Calling each other stupid seems to be the highlight of this game review discussion.
@vietkidd75 Yep. But I think it should get a 9.7 or 9.8.
GAME OF THE YEAR
@ibyOFshieldz Get it.. You'll love it haha. Plus it's not confusing once you get used to it .. I suggest playing the first one first though, storyline will make alot more sense.
@mattryanownz ok I think I will, Thanks, lets just hope the price is still low later
@AnneliesVf not really, thats the only problem
@bballchamp31392 All that's missing is the final score and highlight features like IGN does.
the future definition of video
@nicobizle definitely is! check out my portal 2 vids if you want to see more!
You're awesome gamespot. Great review!
@Hitman38200 to some degree, yes
@Simlife3
well it may be another 5 to 7 years. but it will be worth it.
1:08 I love how usually nobody notices that GLaDOS removes the High Energy Pellet Dispenser and receiver and replaces them with the Lazar Dispenser and Receivers.
it does have a bit of a story, if u want it for the puzzle, go ahead! maybe find a quick wrap up of the story

@5ghostboy a definite yes, its one of the best games of the year so far
Aperture Science Long Fall Boots, they are awesome and allow you to fall several thousand meters without all that many injuries.

@Rosstacular why not, i can perfectly
@Josephalfaro96 Wouldn't it be PTPD (post traumatic portal disorder)?
I have played the first Portal since about release, as a 'veteran' I'd say THIS GAME IS EPIC. Buy it, no. matter. what.

portal 2
crysis 2
little big planet 2
please awnser.
thanks!
@alkawn I think you can use valve's hammer editor for that
Do you still get free Portal 2 steam codes with the PS3 version.
