Dionne Farris is one of those ones who fall in the category of underrrated - someone mentioned she was before her time and I agree. If she debuted right now, she'd be near the top but as it stands, I'm glad she came out when she did. Some of her songs bring back some really great memories, especially Hopeless.
This song has bounced around in my head for 25 years. I was in elementary school when it came out, and could not find it online. Finally found it thanks to Google's software that listens to you hum or doot-doot the song. I remember seeing the video one time and remember the singer being a black woman with short hair, but could not, for the life of me remember the lyrics.
I have always had MAD RESPECT for any black FEMALE music artists like this who think OUTSIDE the box and SHOW the black community we CAN do MORE than just the typical R & B and rap! The sad thing....these record companies act like they DON'T know what genre to put us in AND the promotion for artists like your Dionnes', your Corinne R. Baileys', your Ledisis', your Andra Days, etc... are SEVERELY lacking and if you think about it, doesn't make sense! The interest IS there....the support is NOT! We need to somehow start bombarding these companies with comments like ''hey, how come this person isn't promoted on THIS radio station?''

Yo...I remember blasting this song as I was driving cross-country with a good friend from college. I was leaving Brooklyn to start graduate school in Los Angeles and she was trying to get a writing gig in San Francisco. Damn, y'all...the memories (and good feelings) music can evoke are serious!!!
I love this memory. I feel like I can remember your memory
That bridge showed the industry that she was seriously slept on. Her vocal range? Solid as hell!! Loved her since Arrested Development!
Damn I miss the sound of the 90s.. great car song!
Yeah you can listen to this song drive a bug out dancing Lol
She shouldve been a much bigger star! Great voice, great look, great sound. Love it!
I was teenager in 1995, this song is pure magic for me. Thanks Dionne ❤
2:20...here it goes...wait for it...GOOSEBUMPS!
HELL YES 🙌🏽
Dionne took this gem all the way to #4 in May 1995. Thanks for postin!!
And it went to #1 on Radio 'n Records in '95
Yes I remember that! Video was always playing on vh1 and mtv
It came out in my senior year of high school
Should have been no. 1
Her biggest hit
Brings back memories of the 90’s… Just heard this song watching NY Undercover… lol
That funky drum beat, that slide guitar and that warm toned bass! So amazing!!!
Once again, thanks New York Undercover for reminding me of another classic 👍🏾
Out of all the 90's songs this one sticks in my head and for a few years couldn't find it. Even pop rock radio songs were so good back then! This gives me crazy nostalgia now.
This song still kicks ass in 2020. So uncatagorizable, fresh, and so 90s! I miss the 90s. This song still gives me great feels all these years later.
Does using Generation Clueless terminology make you feel relevant?

So underrateddddd
oh yes, for Real...
Unbelievably amazingly so underrated
I used to sing with her in high school!!! Very nice person and truly talented! Go Dionne!!!
Dionne Farris is one of those ones who fall in the category of underrrated - someone mentioned she was before her time and I agree. If she debuted right now, she'd be near the top but as it stands, I'm glad she came out when she did. Some of her songs bring back some really great memories, especially Hopeless.
This was played all over Aussie Radio in early 1994.
This was played on the radio station in Okinawa, Japan and all over MTV and BET
Brandon Quatro early 1995 u mean
I think Dionne was still a member in Arrested Development in 1993 and 94
Dionne left Arrested Development in late 1992
Yeah...the key change and the bridge...WOW!
The bridge is SOUL STIRRING 🎶💃🏿🎶💯
The 90s...a decade of so much talent and brilliance...
This song brings me so many memories! Love😍
Such a cool song. Great voice and talent!!!
This is beautifully arranged song and beautifully sang .
I remember falling asleep on the couch in the afternoons during 8th grade and waking up to this song on MTV. 1995
The middle eight of this song is ridiculously good.
Modern Milner I love that part!!!
Yes it is damn!
Well we did create every popular music genere, it's more like we forgot❤🎉 🎶 😊
Blues: Bobby Johnson
Rock & Roll: Sister Rosetta Thorpe

Who was having more fun than these guys during this jam session? :) Dionne, Alanis and Sophie B. Hawkins were the gorgeous, natural, boot-rocking idols for us girls who were tomboys back in the day when their music was released. Such good memories.
The moment all the vocals n instruments rest for a good beat in unison then starts up is definition of a solid band.
This song is phenomenal,,,,,still going strong after all these years. Love it! And it has real meaning, "It's not gonna work this tiiiiiimme!" I had to use this song once a upon time. ❤️❤️❤️
I'm surprised she wasn't a big star this girl had it all
Apple Music popped this up randomly on my Saturday morning. Absolute BANGER smash hit!!! I miss the 90's!
This song is a time machine to the 90s.
She did this song on SNL and it was one of the best performances ever on that program
A literally perfect song!
Why is "literally" necessary here? Nothing can be "figuratively" perfect so that's redundant. #grammarnazi
Thank you!
🎶💃🏿🎶💯
The middle of a really silk jam session, with 5 musicians who can play off each other and a smooth singer! Style, clothes, dew, down to jewelry, we dressed to sure in ourselves and happier times in the 90's! 😎
all dressed up & nowhere to go you're saying?

Listening to this song as a 40yr old, this song has a whole different meaning. I was 15 when this came out and didn't understand the weight of it. I love you Dionne!
Yes! Same!! It blew my mind back then and does even more so now 😮
It's such a great fun song that is upbeat, inoffensive and definitely 90s pop. The melody really is just comforting.
This song is so great
When this song hit, I was a manager at The Gap. We had to listen to that damned "Muzak", customized, trendy music for marketing, playing over and over and over...even great songs would wind up making everyone sick of hearing them. But THIS SONG we never got tired of- ever! It always lifted everyone up, we'd sing along, sneak a little dance in between the racks of clothing. I still love it! What a voice! What a band! Dionne is just fierce ❤
❤️❤️❤️
The Gap? What's that!!😅
I heard this at Kwik Trip today . . . And was immediately transported back to the days of Super Nintendo, Dungeons and Dragons, and pop music that was actually good.
Forever a Classic
