@@SaintWill70 why did you buy a toy watch?

@@SaintWill70 why would we need to come back with anything owing to your being an amateur watch collector?

In fact, IWC has/had the same problem with their pilot models. They looked like many other flieger 3- handers or chronographs and were engined by renamed ETA-movements. Also IWC demanded an x-times higher pricetag than the competition.
Hublot is not popular amongst watch enthousiasts, but the creator (Jean-Claude Biver) IS. Hard to get.

Totally. I had the Petit Prince with ETA at one point. Great watch but overpriced at retail. I’m glad they are putting their own movements in now, but I don’t feel they justify the price hike in every case…. Thx for coming back 👍😀

Great vid! I like the look of the classic fusion and at the right price I’d consider buying one. I guess it’s all about perceived value and for watch collectors Hublot doesn’t pass the smell test. Another watch I don’t know any collector owning which is a great watch is the Cellini moon phase. Ah, the vagaries of buying man jewelry! Best regards 😎

      Thanks for the feedback.
As to the cellini, I’ve gone through all of 2022 without noticing, until now, that they had discontinued everything but the moon phase. It is the best one though…

A very good film dealing with the problem of the watch industry.
Many well-known companies put Selita or ETA mechanisms in cases, modifying them slightly or not at all (Panerai, Breitling, IWC, Omega). However, referring to the material you shared, Hublot has its mechanisms in the Hublot Classic Fusion 8 Day Power Reserve line.

      But…. Is In-House always better ?
Is it because of exclusivity? Rolex builds 1 mio watches a year. So it makes 1 mio movements. Sellita maybe 1,6 mio movements ? A Year?
So when it comes to exclusivity….. there is not so much more people having a sellita movement on their wrist than a Rolex. 😅
And what is truly In-House? Can we say omegas mass produced movements are 100% in house ? I mean they integrated their Co-Axial with the help of ETA ….. since they are swatch …. And they bought the tech for the Co axial 😅 and did not invent it them self.
      Plus omega builds 800 k of their “in-house” movements a year ?
And …. Let’s be honest. Is it always better to build your own movements ?? Imagine Cartier would use JLC movements again…. Instead of the IN-HOUSE movements they sell us on the entry level. Santos, Ronde, drive….. hahahahahaha
Like …. Don’t get me wrong… 7500$ is too much for this watch.
But you can get it for 3000-3500 from a grey dealer. And then it is not a bad deal … I agree on this.
And …. Always remember … there is people who would spend 20.000 $ on a submariner because it’s green, even they could get A BP FF for this money 😂😂
Or 40.000$ for a Daytona…. ( I think the one with the El-Primero movement would be better than what Rolex developed them self 😂)
I think a Hublot classic fusion is at retail price even better value for money than a 40.000$ Daytona 😂🤣🤣🤣
But yeah ….. pls buy it with a heavy discount.

Another great video. The watch is overpriced and has a bad rep. I believe the same thing is happening with the microbrand Norqain. I dont know how Hublot survives in the market. Possibly from other brands of LVMH.

THX!!!! 😀 Never had a norqain in the hand but they do seem expensive for the product on paper.

Thanks for the review. Do you think Hublot will ever update the Classic Fusion to include an in-house movement?

    • @Mike.thiswatchthatwatch
      @Mike.thiswatchthatwatch  Год назад +1

Good question. It’s not out of the realm of possibility but LVMH don’t seem to prioritise movement innovation in their entry models (Tag, Hublot) . If they do, they’ll definitely raise the price

You had once stated that Consumer’s greatest power lies in keeping their money to themselves. This is the perfect example where one really can feel powerful. At about 8,000 Euros it is not even one-tenth of the watches you get at that price: Speedmaster, Zenith Skyline, Submariner, SM 300M, Santos Dumont. Until I came across this monstrosity, I never properly understood why Hublot is so hated, this watch is the reason why I ended up hating Hublot as well. Not even the screws align here 😂

No Hublot for me. It is all about loud and showoff, and worn by people who are not necessarily subtle. So not even remotely close to my wrist.

The worse thing about the Hublot design is all the misaligned screw fixings. Every one of them facing a different direction. Thats a terrible flaw in what other than that is a clean and sleek design.

First of all Hublot have big discount while Rolex is over price on gray market and no such thing as waiting list so hublot classic real cost is much cheaper than an explorer

You talk as though the people who buy Hublot spend their time niggling over the value of the things they buy. Hint, we don't.

Hublot is amazing watch. Not a boring design. Looks contemporary, worn comfortably and super light. Cartier Santos also has screws btw 😅
