  • Derick Flitcroft and I fight for the right to represent the USA at the AMFC's international qualifier tournament. The IMCF world championship will be held in Belmonte, Spain in the same castle where, "El Cid" and "Flesh and Blood" were filmed. I was a world champion there in in 2014. I was a mercenary there in 2015. 2020 will be my thrid visit.

Ohoho. I've viewed this fight a few times to understand why Derick lost.
At first I thought the main problem is in how his tactical decisions seemed to be not aimed to achieve palpable tactical goals, but to think of it, bulk of those decisions started after he caught some important blows - 0:30, 0:34 (that was a weird decision on his part),1:04, 1:47, 1:52. So, it's easy to imagine that pain and constant knocking at the head were the culprit.
So then, what led him to catching these hits?
Reviewing up to 0:34 and 1:04 made me think that he subtly misunderstands how poleweapons work. Perhaps he has few misconceptions about how fighting works in general. If he wants to improve, he needs more theory and practice. Perhaps drills to keep some solid patterns when brain partially goes offline might help? Becoming more pushy would be an improvement.
And perhaps something more bashy than his primary weapon. If his weapon can't effectively rock his opponent through armor; while his opponent's can do that to himself - that's a 1/3 of a fight being lost. Seems like Simon was only affected after catching hits to the head and fingers grom Derick's weapon.
It's interesting to see Derick's spirit. He kept going even after tanking down quite a few hits. Don't think it's healthy, but pain tolerance is useful for these kinds of fights.
You've shown quite a skill and experience. Some great explosive strength too. Wow!
    Thanks for sharing this video!

Look for your nearest local team by searching the nearest large city or your state or country with as many of the following terms as you need until you find something: buhurt, hmb, imcf, acl, acs, acw, battle of the nations, steel combat, medieval combat, armored combat, medieval armored combat (and replace "combat" with "fighting")
And you can also post your location here and see if anyone reading this knows the closest group to you.

Not a Fair fight. In real life the guy with the spear is supposed to thrust and pierce. He's not allowed to do this here. They both should have had the same weapons. Clearly the guy with the poleaxe can do more damage with the axe. What's the point of the spear if you can't use it as intended.
