Additionally, it irritates me on forums when other martial communities say that the is SCA is just a bunch of guys trying to beat each other sticks. This is an excellent example of two highly skilled fighters displaying, power generation, measure, striking in true time, tempo, and feeling out their opponent, while still being absolutely chivalric and true sportsman. Absolutely amazing. Additionally, well done camera man, so many of these things are blocked by other people or the marshals. You did your best when he got in the way toward and for that, you get a huzzah.
So glad you enjoyed the video! I had watched so many of his training videos that I was confused to hear that voice coming from inside a helmet on the field! An excellent fighter. Both of these gentles are truly an inspiration.
Agreed, the absolute precision and fluidity of the exchanges is great to see. The fact that both fighters hold the standards of their own shots ABOVE the standard of acceptance of their opponents is truly commendable. They don't want to win with garbage, and that makes the exchanges even better. I haven't had first hand engagement with other communities who disparage SCA fighting, but i've definitely seen some pretty disparaging remarks from HEMA people, which is quite saddening. If anything, real combat if fought to the death is certain to be even more brutal and messy than SCA, which are common criticisms levied at against our game.
