The twist that makes you rethink everything about the series till now. Even though his Hollow said “I AM ZANGETSU” to Ichigo over and over. That’s clever writing honestly. And the time the two spirits fused, the fused form said he desired to protect Ichigo.

As I read the manga after I assumed that the fullbring arc was the end of Bleach years ago, I started reading the manga for closure.... Until this episode in the manga, I did not make the connection between the two either.... Just like Ichigo, I never made the connection between Yhwach and old man Zangetsu. Maybe it was because it had been a while, or maybe in the depths of my mind something refused to see the connection.
I like how when “Zangetsu” told Ichigo he wasn’t Zangetsu, his world literally crumbled.
Also, the rain that started when Ichigo considered if Zangetsu was Yhwach, pure sadness.
And after his world crumbled, they fell onto the ocean of despair that Ichigo was on before fighting Aizen and after losing his powers to Ginjo, but then going towards the surface, because he understood what Zangetsu meant.
What an emotional roller coaster Ichigo went through in a couple of seconds.
Just gonna expound a bit on what Kumo said. Zangetsu has told Ichigo in the past that it rains in his inner world whenever Ichigo gets sad or depressed. This time instead of rain all the buildings in Ichigo's inner world starts crumbling right before everything is instantly drowned. Goes to show how destroyed Ichigo was by that reveal.
@@KumoArt it is funny Ichigo felt better after learning about his mom but that moment brought back all the rain and flooded that whole world in seconds.
back in the OG Bleach, Zangetsu said he hated rain, cuz it rains in his world whenever Ichigo was sad.
and when attaining mugetsu, the world was underwater, so that prolly means despair

Well, Tite Kubo loves reading books and there is one book that focuses on psychology and it says that:
even though the truth has been shown to you, you will never accept it based on two reasons:

and that is where Kubo-sensei has gotten the idea for White and the Famous speech "The king and his horse"

Poor Zangetsu (The real one). Dude told Ichigo he was his Zanpakuto, and always got pushed aside. Had to watch Ichigo call on the person who was actually limiting him.

Since Hollow Ichigo's introduction he always told Ichigo "I am Zangetsu." And I can just imagine him telling Ichigo "I told you so."

That was before he gained dominance, whuch is what I think Kurosawa meant. But what is a Zanpakuto if not a Shinigami’s partner?
All the times the real Zangetsu yelled at Ichigo to just let him take control and then they'd win. Makes it all make much more sense.
@@ShadowyFox_86 Of course, that confidence could’ve been the brash, overconfident instincts of their youth and the hollow nature. Most of the reason Zangetsu was able to help so much in the beginning when he took over was the shock their opponents were dealing with, when they suddenly found themselves facing what was essentially a menos within a soul reaper.
“Thank you Zangetsu, you are…me” the fact he acknowledges them both as him 😭😭 powerful scene
Zanpakuto's are a part of their souls anyway so yeah
@@Yoreinowashinoka14 There is a difference between being told a thing, and acknowledging and internalizing the truth of that thing.
Rewatch episode 19 and around 13:00 you literally hear Zangetsu try to reveal his real name to Ichigo first, but Ichigo only hears the last part of "Ju Ha Ba Ha." as if something blocks it. Incredible foreshadowing. I am mindblown!
Its also blocked out with black ink in the manga, the ink of someone we have met but have not seen them name/remove the name of things as of yet

When you go back at all the interactions between Zangetsu and Ichigo, you realized he never lied to him, always teached him something about himself and saved him many time...Both of them...That really changed the whole dynamic of those conversations ! Now the two of them will work with Ichigo, his dual Zanpakuto and full power unleashed !!

Twice in the series someone has tried to tell Ichigo of his Quincy lineage. The first time was when "Zangetsu" and Ichigo met, Ichigo asked him "who are you" to which Zangetsu TRIED to reply with " Who am I? Don't you know, it's me---" and he was cut off by something preventing him from saying his name... Yuha Baha.
The 2nd time is with Aizen trying to say he's the offspring of a Shinigami and a Quincy but before he could say that... Isshin intervenes and tells him "you talk too much Aizen" 💀.
All comes together here in a VERY beautiful way from Aizen's involvement, his mother & dad and even the MAIN villain being here this whole time 👀.
There's also the fact Ichigo has blue cross bed sheets since the beginning of the series 💀 and Zangetsu uses the Quincy's ability to transport through shadows after the Kenpachi battle.
It's Yhwach, they just pronounce it Yuha Baha.

Both spirits in Ichigo equally desired to protect him, but in their own way. When they fused, the fused spirit even said it desired to protect Ichigo.
Ahhhhh. This season finale was Peak Peak PEAK!!! With crazy plot twists. Ichigo's final conversation with Zangetsu hit me. Finally accepting who he is.
I never thought we’d get the reveal in part 1, but it’s the one of the best Christmas gifts I could ask for
YES, that's right white ichigo was the real zangetsu and I love the fact that he is because imagine you being created to be your wielders partner and yet your getting pushed away by him! That's why he reacted like that and went against him until ichigo finally accepts him as his partner in that scene 🤝🏼
You can really see how happy true zangetsu was at the end
Well that and the fact Zangetsu isn't a normal Zanpakutō as he's fused with a hollow and the hollow's instinct is to take over.
Not really it’s hanturou and yoriuchis fault ichigo wished to keep the hollow mask in the soul society arc but they didn’t allow it

@@logandelaharpe6362 Bro what... It's not just the hollow mask, the hollow itself is inside his soul fused with his zanpakuto.
That’s why Ichigo’s power always seemed unstable, especially when Zangetsu took over. Ichigo’s refusal to acknowledge White’s nature and instinct to beat down all comers as part of himself made them unbalanced, and when the mind is at war with itself, the body will never operate at full capacity.
Old Man Zangetsu shall never be forgotten.

He is not gone, his quincy powers turned in to a Zanpakuto, the small one is his hollow the longer one is his quincy.
@@aaronpaulovillanueva You actually have it backwards. The large one is Ichigo's Soul Reaper / Hollow powers while the small one is his Quincy Power.

I'm surprised how many plot twist and story progression was packed into these 13 episodes and it somehow didn't feel rushed. Can't wait until July 2023 for the 2nd cour to start 🔥
Now that this revalation is known to everyone, It should be noted that "True Zangetsu"/White/Hollow Ichigo has been the one teaching Ichigo all of his techniques and moves. Each time they met Ichigo learned something from "True Zangetsu" compared to "False Zangetsu" who always relied on "True Zangetsu" to teach Ichigo.
Another thing to note is how both use a different approach towards teaching Ichigo, "False Zangetsu" was always gentle and more passive when interacting with Ichigo, compared to "True Zangetsu" who taught Ichigo by being antagonistic and forcing him to copy/learn his moves.

I like how Ichigo's full visord form looks similar to the hollow that attacked his mother, shows you how the powers are intertwined
So yeah White Ichigo was actually Zangetsu the whole time and Ichigo was just too damn scared to hear him out. Like he would literally say “I am Zangetsu” over and over
I mean, can you blame him? Who would you believe... the first guy who appeared to help you and told you he's Zangetsu or a hollow looking version of you that acts like a psychopath that completely takes over your body a few times?
@@lunarizon1981 It’s hard to acknowledge that part of your nature is to revel in fighting and battle, especially when all you want is to protect your people. Most people would prefer to believe that the calm, cool, and collected one is your dominant personality traits.
I haven't cried in years, until now as "Zangetsu" shed a tear as he disappeared. The OG 'number one' theme song playing in the background as Nimaiya shouted to pull out his true Zangetsu is a fitting ending to part one. Nimaiya is a true blade god.

So much plot twist😭 will never stop loving bleach!!! they never fail to make me feel all kinds of emotions every episode which i like in this anime the most. Theres always a reason to wait and watch for it, and its always worth it! Ily bleach❤️ my no.1 anime of all time.

The principal concept of Zampakuto is the "zampakuto is a fragment of your soul" so everytime the zampakuto is the shinigami himself.
Ichigo never understand and everytime ask for help to his zampakuto, so finally he understand that he no need the help of the zampakuto because is his power and is himself
The Blade is Me!!! The anime did this part so much justice!!!! It was so heart wrenching to see Ichigo’s revelation, man July will be such an epic return!!!
Ichigo pulling his zanpakto out for the first time was so damn epic in the manga, and they made it so much better here.
My jaw was wide open through that entire scene. I can't believe how much justice they've done the series here in part one. So excited for part 2 come July.
I had to rewatch the scene when old man zangetsu was shown, his name was bleeped out. kubo got some goat level foreshadowing.

You're right. Even Ichigo's Bankai works more like a Quincy vollstandig; it compresses his power into an small form that shrouds him instead of being a gigantic reiatsu explosion like most bankais are.

My God these two episodes were amazing, I love this anime so much, I'm going to miss new episodes every week but I'm waiting for the second part of this arc with great anticipation!
When i read this chapters for the first time i was in shock, truly one of the most poetic chapters in any manga i have read. Just beautiful 🥰.

Ichigo has joined Shunsui and Ukitake (the two widely accepted 'strongest' captains outside of the monster that is kenpachi) as soul reapers with dual wielded zanpakuto

If you actually think about it, the white zangetsu showed ichigo how to use his zanpaktou like Ichigo learn to spin zangetsu to break rukia's chain when he first fought him. Also when he first show ichigo Bankai Getsuga Tensho against byakuya and also show him using Getsuga Tensho when their swords clash during that 2nd fight. He has been teaching Ichigo in a harsh way

If Ichigo accepted White’s help back in the Soul Society arc over Zangetsu, he would have wrecked Kenpachi, Byakuya, Grimmjow, Ulquiorra and been a close fight against Aizen _without_ Final Getsuga Tenshou. The power was literally sleeping inside him all along.
Fun fact: when Ichigo went in his inner world during the training with the Vizards, he asked where Zangetsu (Quincy) was. White tells him: "You wanted to know where Zangetsu was. All right then. I AM ZANGETSU!" Ichigo obviously doesn't believe him and asks him again: "You! What did you do with Zangetsu?!" and White tells him again: "Sheesh! How many times do I have to tell you?! I am ZANGETSU!!!"

It all make sense when ichigo could only retain his hollow mask longer in bankai form. It’s because his shinigami power leans towards hollow more, aka zangetsu/white
Aaaaaaaaah I’m so glad that this part ended where I hoped it would, been waiting to see anime-onlies reactions to the big twist that Old Man Zangetsu was actually Yhwach.
And previously in the Bleach manga, there were chapters called “THE BLADE AND ME”, but now it’s “THE BLADE IS ME”. This is a big step forward for Ichigo’s character arc, him coming to terms with all that he is and now he can be sure of himself as a person.
Can’t wait for more Bleach when it comes back this July! Been really happy with how the adaptation has been handled so far, let’s hope the crew keep up this amazing quality :)
It's pretty great develop from here for everyone that now knows everything from flashbacks or backstory for ppl who didn't read manga ofc but still fine tho to see big surprises ahead like this tho makes more better to actual feeling to it when they see it. The animation did phenomenal work for part 1 here tho. Can't wait for part 2. Also nicely reaction Jami

One of the best christmas present from the staffs working with bleach
With the reveal of Ichigo having two blades because his powers have two distinct origins just makes me wonder what's the story behind Ukitake and Shunsui's dual swords. Ukitake is a bit clear that is somewhat like the two swords are connected and a part of the same thing but Shunsui's is just a mystery.
Shunsui dual zanpakutou is a fantastic story, and I believe it will be fully adapted in the next season of Bleach TYBW. Just wait for it.
There is some vague connection between Fullbringers and Quincies, both being humans with spirit powers, maybe more but that would likely be spoilers. But they’re still mostly different.

It makes me wonder, If Aizen is so calculating and kept an eye on Ichigo since he was born as he said, would he be the own who sent Grand Fisher towards Ichigo since it would later become an arrancar.
I love your channel and reactions especially for bleach and jjk!! Also if you get the blu ray version of this season they have slight changes to the designs of the characters and on this episode they actually show him as a young yhwach.
My headcanon is that Old Man Zangetsu is in fact also, well, Zangetsu (as Ichigo says), and that he's saying he's not more in relation to the sword Ichigo was actually using up until that point. After all, he was the one who showed up during the Bankai training and has his appearance altered when Ichigo uses Tensa Zangetsu.
This also means that if Old Man Zangetsu wasn't holding Ichigo back he probably woul've had two swords right from the get go.
If you got back to the anime scene where zangetsu and ichigo first met his name was edited out when he first said it. Listen carefully at the end you can actually hear the last syllable of his name which was “ha”. It could just be me speculating to hard but it’s episode 19 around 13 minutes mark.

Reborn with two badass blades can't wait for season 2
The two blades represent each of those powers. The bigger blade is his soul. Reaper powers in the smaller blade is Quincy powers that’s why there’s two and when he activated banki, he has the horn of salvation, which represents his hollow Shinigami and Quincy powers all bound together.
I cant believe people just now realizing the resemblance of yhwach and zangetsu. Theres no way Im the only one realizising this in the 1st episode when we saw Yhwach. Just didnt know the context then.
Zangetsu in name has so much more meaning and power now
Fun fact: Ichigo was Way Stronger than any captain with the fragment of his powers that Zangetsu can't suppress 😂😂

Now it makes sense that Ichigo lose is powers when he used final getsuga or mugetsu because its his quincy powers, like when uryu use his powers to defeat captain kurotsuchi, they use the same technique.
