Poor Hollow Ichigo. He kept telling Ichigo from the start that he was the real Zangetsu and yet Ichigo didnt wanna hear it. I bet he’s probably thinking “I told you so” right now.
That's what his face says when Ichigo is having his monologue about there having been no lies.
"I told you I was Zangetsu.
You mad bro?"
To be fair, when he introduced himself to Byakuya, he said "I don't have a name".
@@brtruev1710 he never told anyone his name besides ichigo. he only acknowledge one person and thats ichigo.
And with this episode finale, we wrap up the 1st cour of the Thousand Year Blood War! 2nd cour is confirmed for Summer July 2023. Although it's seven months out, what's seven months in comparison to TEN YEARS OF WAITING FOR PEAK? A near perfect adaptation, for an absolutely amazing comeback. BLEACH IS BACK!

Everything but the Rain + The Blade IS Me is the culmination of not only Ichigo’s character arc but the very plot of Bleach as a whole as this was foreshadowed back in the first arc in Ep 20 what Ichigo first met “Zangetsu” he tried to call out his name but there was a blurred bubbling sound, and in the manga his name was crossed out as Yhwach, so not only is it a casual “How I met your mother”/Romeo and Juliet romance story but the very balanced genesis and salvation of who we are, our conflicting personalities/souls at war with one another finally finding peace as the holy trinity from an identity crisis, embracing your light & dark sides as the Yin Yang Abstract harmonized.
This is foreshadowed back in EP19, when "Old Man Zangetsu" tries to introduce himself and Ichigo can't hear him. I can't fully explain why he can't be heard, but "Old Man Zangetsu" was trying to tell Ichigo his actual name (that being Yhwach Bach). If you go back and watch the scene in either dub or sub, you can hear a strange, muffled voice alongside Zangetsu's that hints to this. And their voice actors are the same for the sub and dub.
There's also visual clues to this as well, such as the Blut Vene during Ichigo's battle with Yhwach, and OM Zangetsu sealing up Ichigo's chest wound when he was fighting Kenpachi. White Zangetsu, or his "true" zanpakuto spirit has manifested many more times to help Ichigo. The mask shows up several times during the Soul Society arc, along with the interference in the battle with Byakuya, literally stating "I AM Zangetsu" during the Vizard training, that Hollow hole Orihime was worried about when Ichigo first got seriously wounded by Ulquiorra, and the Vasto Lorde form when Ichigo was almost killed by Ulquiorra again. Plus, both of them appearing and fusing when Ichigo needs to learn the Final Getsuga. Old Man Zangetsu more or less had a mentoring approach, with White directly/indirectly interfering when he knew Ichigo was in serious trouble, to the annoyance of Ichigo himself.
And "the blade is me" is because Soul Reapers/shinigami have to pour their energy into asauchi to turn them into zanpakuto, like Oetsu stated earlier. More or less an extension of a shinigami's soul given form, sentience, and function. Both Zangetsu's are Ichigo's power given those three aspects, and a physical form for him to use.

Rhymes perfectly with the hype inducing quote before the season aired,
'I'm still Bleach'.
Ichigo being the result of sugar spice and everything nice, haha.

Tbh the soul reaper extermination of the Quincy 200 years prior makes a whole lot more sense, imagine if Ywach rolled up with all those extra Quincy, Soul Society kinda had to kill as many as they could before Ywach could return since there’s no way he’s going to come in peace after what happened 1,000 years ago, and it’s not like the Quincy can just ignore his orders either.

Yhwach is to Quincy as Dracula is to Vampires.
Thats why Ishida is considered special. All the Gemischt quincies(mixedblood) shouldve died after the Auswahlen but he survived even though he is also a Gemischt.
That's the thing about Bleach everyone can be a major player in the story not just the mc.

Yhwach stole the IMPURE quincies powers (meaning half bloods like uryus mother)
masaki was a full blood, but since she was now mixed with a hollow she is IMPURE
remember Uryu is a half blood, but he survived .........(ICHIGO IS NOT THE ONLY SPECIAL ONE, URYU IS TOO)

Not spoiling anything i am just saying that Uruyu Ishida has reasons to join and hate both sides.. the soul reapers did not help his grandfather and his grandfather died because of that and even worse Mayuri did experiments on his grandfather after(rewach Ishida vs Mayuri fight).. On the other hand his mother died because Yhwach took her powers..
The fact that Uryu's grandma called Masaki as a Thing is crazy and disrespectful as hell .

If you remember uryu looking something on his dad room?,,a kind of record book from Quincy ..I'm definitely sure he found it and knew how her mother died, and maybe there's some records of how to stop yhwach that is why he joined them..
I'm not sure if Uryu knows specifically how his mother's death was causes by the auswählen. We don't know what information that book contained, or even who wrote it, or when. But Ishida's smart so I trust him to figure it out either way.

@07:52 he's not stealing their powers. He's merely taking back what belongs to him. Whenever a Quincy is born they receive a fragment of Yuha's powers. He can always pull back his powers whenever he wants. One of the reasons why Yuha & his Quincy army is so OP is that the more if his men you kill the stronger he becomes. Their powers return back to the og owner.
That hasn't been explained in the anime yet. So you are treading into spoiler territory.

@@SpaceCowgirls Supposedly we'll get more of Uryu in the anime than we did in the same parts of the manga in the coming cours. We've already seen a bit of this but I've heard that Kubo has personally added some material to expand and clarify Ishida's role in the story. Something to look forward to for Uryu fans.
