I remember Zangetsu always being sad, when ichigo needed a power up and learned from him. Even the final GT he said it himself, he only wants to save ichigo the most! The only time Yhwach appeared to help was against Kenpachi. TK said it was the only moment in bleach that Ichigo fully released his power/ and that was the fight against Grimmjow.

When you go back to the first time Ichigo met Zangetsu in episode 19 at 13:00, when Ichigo asked "Who are you?", "Zangetsu" tried telling him his real name, but his name was cut out, but at the end of that cut, you could hear the name ended in an echo of "ha" and Zangetsu's name ends with a 'u', but Yuha Bach's name ends with an 'a' which you could hear in the echo. His name was also blacked out in the manga. That is an epic foreshadow and Kubo is a genius!
"I am Yhwach, yet I am not..." - He's simply saying, yes, I am Yhwach appearance-wise because he IS the manifestation of his Quincy powers. That being said, he is not Yhwach personally, the same man that he fought in Soul Society. Don't take the conversation literally; "I would have had to kill you with my own hands..." He's talking about the physical Yhwach who destroyed the Soul Society. Zangetsu literally meant what he said; he followed the path of the Shinigami and almost died in the hands of Yhwach. Old Man Zangetsu will always protect Ichigo, he has done so since the anime aired.
He IS a fragment of Yhwach, but changed after being exposed to Ichigo's soul. All quincies have a piece of Yhwach, but since they aren't soul reapers, can't see their 'inner world'.
This isn’t exactly right, he is Yhwach however a fragment that got to grow alongside Ichigo. He is pretty much Yhwach if he didn’t have to worry about his goals and lived side by side with Ichigo doing everything he can to protect him. It’s like if you cloned yourself and then lived in two different places, you would be the same however you would come to care about different things and have different views on certain matters. No, He actually meant it. He could have killed him especially if Ichigo turned out to have Kenpachi mentality. Cz most definitely, Hichigo could have taken control as well so the only way to save the destruction is to kill the master for the greater good. Same as how Squad 3 captain, Amagai killed himself, the same way Yamamoto could have. & he literally said, he didn't help him, Hichigo did Cz.

The process was just a bit more complex since they passed through a Quincy before actually fusing with Shinigami powers by his dad having a child with her. Since Quincies and Hollows are poison to each other that's what kept his Quincy powers separate. Basically, the only time he has only been using Shinigami power alone was in like the beginning of Season 1 with his oversized katana.
@@NobleTimes_0 Only because they melded together. That was literally Aizen's entire shtick by experimenting on turning Soul Reapers into Hollows. Normally that doesn't happen because humans turn into Hollows and Soul Reapers don't. Notice how his Soul Reaper/Hollow sword is twice as big as his Quincy sword. He is still technically 1/2 human, 1/4 Soul Reaper, and 1/4 Quincy even without the Hollow. When Rukia stabbed him he was using that dormant 1/4 Soul Reaper power. After training with Kisuke and almost falling victim to the Hollow that was injected into his mom and passed to him that Hollow/Soul Reaper mixture melded with is already existing Soul Reaper power creating his OG Zangetsu. Remember, Nimaiya said that the Black Hollows that Aizen was creating were functionally similar to Nimaiya's Asauchi. So, White essentially became that replacement for the Asauchi when getting the initial Zanpakuto. He didn't get his powers like a Soul Reaper. He got them in a similar way that an Espada gets their sword but he's not a Hollow so it was functionally more like a Soul Reaper. Remember, that he's not ACTUALLY a Hollow. When his mom got bit she was germinated with the embryo of that Beta version of an Arrancar then that seed was suppressed by Ishin and then passed on to Ichigo. Only after the events in Season 1 did it actually "hatch" because it became too powerful to suppress by Ishin. It was a separate entity inside him that tried to overtake his soul until he suppressed it and then it fused together with the Soul Reaper part of him which is what its original design was from the beginning. As was the initial goal of Aizen's experiments to create a Hollow soul with Soul Reapers souls or vice versa to create a higher being.
@@NobleTimes_0 they actually are. They melded together during his Bankai training. I think what's keeping them at bay (the two powers) is Ichigo's pure Shinigami abilities that's why the two powers coexist
@@thomasowino5927 It's actually kind of interesting because remember White was a Hollow created from Soul Reaper souls being put into or eaten by a Hollow (might be a bit more complex than that) so Ichigo's inherent Soul Reaper power from Ishin mixed with a Hollow/Soul Reaper mix. So his Soul Reaper power is actually almost kind of multi-layered because he has his own power + the residual power of whatever Soul Reapers were used in the creation of White.
I have to say that I almost cried at the end of episode 13. They adapt "The blade IN me" to "The blade IS me", the most important episode of all Bleach. Ichigo's journey of self-discovery, depression, courage, self-acceptance finally reaches its peak. I really liked discovering your reactions this year, I can tell that you are really a bleach fan. And I'm very excited for what's to come in the second cour. You are not ready!

I would like to talk about the design of new zanpakuto ..... remember OG Zangetsu (knife looking one) has bandages , bankāi Tensa Zangetsu has chains , Final getsugatenshou Mugetsu form has bandages all over him that chains and bandages could symbolise how Old man Zangetsu was suppressing his powers till now where the two new zanpakuto has no chains or bandages on them 💀
yep amazing, thats what the chains and bandages symbolise, when he was in his Dangai form against aizen the chain was going all over his hand cuz zangetsu needed to supress more power there, and when he was in his final getsuga he had bandages all over his body and chain marks over one of his hands cuz zangetsu suppresed a lot of his power there. When he is in Bankai form his chain is small cuz he does not have that much power and Zangetsu need to suppress only a small amount thats why his chain is smaller
PS. At the end of the Renji fight during SS arc, when ichigo was in the tunnels, hanataro found a hollow mask at the wound Renji gave Ichigo. And If I remember correctly I think hanataro said that it probably stopped him from receiving a fatal wound during their clash. From the Very beginning the hollow was saving him Kubo is the goat.

The saddest thing is ichigo didn’t reject his hollow mask at first Hanatrou though it away And then yoriuchi told him he couldn’t keep it despite him wanting too Had those two not stopped ichigo from accepting the hollow early things might have been different Like dead aizen and juha not surviving the first invasion different

Ywach gets older every time he gains power from other quinces, so when Zangetsu did the opposite and relinquished his powers to Ichigo during the final battle with Aizen, he got younger and became Tensa Zangetsu.

What I do love about white being the real zangetsu is that imagine you were created after being insider of the weilder's mother and your job is to guide, teach and protect your weilder but the weilder always pushes you way, thinking that you are evil. Well that's why zangetsu (White) reacted like that at the start whereas at the end he smiled because he was acknowledged by his partner 🤝🏼 Also from now on we have to stop calling him white, he is zangetsu 🙏🏼
That seems like a reach. I'm pretty sure Zangetsu hating the rain is just because whenever Ichigo gets sad, it rains, so for him that wants to protect him and keep him safe, the rain is always a bad sign.
Remember the design of Final Getsuga Tenshou? Long black hair, the technique that makes the user lose all powers. Similar to Uryu's Letz Stil he used against Mayuri. Now that we know ichigo is a Quincy too, I think that form was Ichigo's Quincy + shinigami powers (mostly Quincy). We also have a chain motif for Ichigoi's Zanpaktou. Earlier it was a cloth wrap, then his bankai and Fullbring have chains. Even Final GT has bandages wrapped around. Maybe to show that Old man was restricting Ichigo's powers? (as we just found out that he is restricting his Shinigami powers) Just some assumptions
@Caio Alex You are not wrong and what I wrote was just a guess, but it's not so far fetched to think that Ichigo's Getsuga did indeed used his quincy powers too along with Soul reaper powers since we saw Tensa Zangetsu and Hollow ichigo merging for FGT.
It's always funny to see michael asking a question and then get answered after a few seconds or minutes. 7:25 shunsui is out there threatening central 46 just to get 2 lieutenant meanwhile at squad 9. 17:51 when ichigo was fighting kenpachi, kenpachi stab him through his sword into his chest and for some reason ichigo is alright, that was blut vene
29:06 This is why all the Asauchis bowed to him. He understood that the Zanpakutō spirit is merely a projection of its Shinigami. That's why they both vanished. The blade is me, the Zanpakutō is the Shinigami.
Tensa Zangetsu is his actual zanpakuto when both quincy & hollow fight as one. The reason OMZ wasn't considered to be a Zanpakuto previously is not Cz he's a Quincy representation but his way of protecting Ichigo by not being a Zanpakuto but pretending to be. So in the end, in this episode, he accepted being a zanpakuto. But it's funny, how the water shocks everyone compared to what Zangetsu said, a fragment of his power defeated Captains, Aizen, Espadas, etc
the time ichigo met “tensa zangetsu” he looked like a younger “zangetsu” which could mean that’s how Yhwach loooked in his even younger days also dangai ichigo was kind of a preview of the ichigo we have now a true fusion of soul reaper hollow but we were unaware of his Quincy side playing into it
So to recap: The hollow White was transferred to Ichigo through his mom and became an asauchi for his shinigami powers, giving him both shinigami/hollow abilities. He never received a real asauchi but was able to create a zanpakutou in this way. He also had quincy powers from the start and they suppressed his shinigami/hollow abilities all the way up to now and were represented by old man "Zangetsu". The hollow white/his asauchi was his real shinigami powers and the hollow white is always accompanied by the rain. That's why Zangetsu said in the past "I hate the rain" because it represents Ichigo relying on his Shinigami/Hollow powers in favor of the Quincy powers that "Zangetsu" wanted him to use. At the end of the previous series, the entire world is submerged by the rain since Ichigo's Hollow/Shinigami powers took over and old man "Zangetsu" made peace with it as he mentioned now. Ichigo now is at peace with his shinigami/hollow and quincy powers and can use them to his hearts content. He has a huge amount of Reiatsu since he is a descendent of a great Shinigami house and an "Echt" Quincy house, in other words, OP.

The poem at the end of episode 12 was old man Zangetsu, the foreshadowing for this moment has been a thing even in the old series. More people should have caught on that old man Zangetsu and Yuha have the same VA. In the fight between Ichigo and Yuha "Nothing can be explained" was played which is Old Man Zangetsu's theme song.
When Ichigo first met "Old Man Zangetsu" he tried to tell Ichigo his name. It was blurred out however yet if you go back you can still her him pronounce the "aha" at the end of "yuha baha". The syllables match up too for the whole name
Take a look at the screen at 10:38. His name is blurred out. Now recall the very first time Ichigo met Old Man Zangetsu and he tried to say his name. He was trying to say his REAL name back then. In the anime, that sound is distorted, but in the manga, it's blurred out with ink, just like in this screen...and there is a very interesting reason behind this...

They've done a great job at adapting the manga. Watching first time reactions to this stuff brings back so many memories. The anime only viewers got a treat that the original manga readers didn't get. When Yhwach first appeared in the manga, he's drawn with very little facial hair and it's obvious that he looked very similar to Old Man Zangetsu. It initially led to a lot of confusion because we didn't get the Quincy explanation until many chapters later. Oh and an easter egg in early Bleach.. There is a scene that shows Ichigos bed and the blanket has a Quincy cross as its design. It was early in the anime before he was friends with Ishida.

Theres nice symbolism that most missed in this episode. Right when Ichigo pulled out the new blades, they started glowing. The short one was blue (Quincy) while the longer one was red (Hollow) lights. Those two changed their colours to yellow (Ichigo). They literally showed us that Zangetsu is Ichigo, Ichigo is Zangetsu. This is also a contrast to a older episode/chapter where the title was “The Blade AND Me” (when Ichigo first learned “Zangetsu’s” name) which is now “The Blade IS Me”
I'm pretty sure uryu found out something from the record book he was looking for, and found out why and how his mother died, and definitely he know how to stop yhwach that is why he joined them for a personal reason...
There’s obviously many factors behind white’s protectiveness of Ichigo, but it’s also important to remember his soul was linked to both of Ichigo’s parents. White probably inherited at least part of their love for him

I think the reason why ichigo his spiritual power in the beginning and his getsuga tenshou were blue is because of the power het got from his quincy powers. Later when he started using his bankai his soul reaper powers got less suppressed making the getshuga become black. In the beginning of TYBW you can also see his getsuga is black now instead of blue because his soul reaper powers arent that suppressed anymore.
Ichigo's Getsuga being blue in the original anime was a mistake. It's supposed to be gold. Getsuga Tensho is only black when Ichigo is in Bankai. When he was in Shikai in the manga and the TYBW anime it's gold.
Also Michael if you haven’t or did watched the filler arc with the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc, it was also foreshadowed that when old man Zangetsu (Quincy power) was separated from Kurosaki Ichigo, True Zangetsu (White) assisted Kurosaki Ichigo to defeat old man Zangetsu and to beat Muramasa. Old man Zangetsu was shocked while in Bankai that Ichigo in his Shikai form overpowered him.

Tensa Zangetsu is a fusion between younger Juhabach manifestation and the Hollow. It is a Quincy-Hollow hybrid Ichigo fought to master the Final Getsugatensho. Ichigo fought another Quincy-Hollow hybrid with Quilge Opie (after absorbing the Chimera) fighting to awaken the latent quincy powers.
At the end of the episode when he says the blade is me it's in the literal sense. A shinigami's Zanpakuto is a physical representation of their soul. That's why when their zanpakuto get broken they're close to death when it happens. A zanpakuto isn't a separate spirit that fights alongside a shinigami. They're a representation of who they are. That's why when Nimaiya was talking about an Asauchi he said they sleep, eat and train with it and then, after pouring their reiatsu into it, it transforms into a full on Zanpakuto cause they're pouring what's essentially their essence into it
3:43 It was no longer necessary to fight against them, the sageuchis could feel ichigo's power and his resolution, so they all wanted to be his sampakutou, that's why they kneeled before him, but only ichigo could choose his sword.

Yeah, and his name being blacked out makes sense because of what we learn later on with Ichibe, Kubo the GOAT.

"I am Yhwach, yet I am not..." - He's simply saying, yes, I am Yhwach appearance-wise because he IS the manifestation of his Quincy powers. That being said, he is not Yhwach personally, the same man that he fought in Soul Society.
Don't take the conversation literally; "I would have had to kill you with my own hands..." He's talking about the physical Yhwach who destroyed the Soul Society. Zangetsu literally meant what he said; he followed the path of the Shinigami and almost died in the hands of Yhwach. Old Man Zangetsu will always protect Ichigo, he has done so since the anime aired.

He IS a fragment of Yhwach, but changed after being exposed to Ichigo's soul. All quincies have a piece of Yhwach, but since they aren't soul reapers, can't see their 'inner world'.
This isn’t exactly right, he is Yhwach however a fragment that got to grow alongside Ichigo. He is pretty much Yhwach if he didn’t have to worry about his goals and lived side by side with Ichigo doing everything he can to protect him.

The process was just a bit more complex since they passed through a Quincy before actually fusing with Shinigami powers by his dad having a child with her. Since Quincies and Hollows are poison to each other that's what kept his Quincy powers separate. Basically, the only time he has only been using Shinigami power alone was in like the beginning of Season 1 with his oversized katana.

@@NobleTimes_0 Only because they melded together. That was literally Aizen's entire shtick by experimenting on turning Soul Reapers into Hollows. Normally that doesn't happen because humans turn into Hollows and Soul Reapers don't. Notice how his Soul Reaper/Hollow sword is twice as big as his Quincy sword. He is still technically 1/2 human, 1/4 Soul Reaper, and 1/4 Quincy even without the Hollow. When Rukia stabbed him he was using that dormant 1/4 Soul Reaper power. After training with Kisuke and almost falling victim to the Hollow that was injected into his mom and passed to him that Hollow/Soul Reaper mixture melded with is already existing Soul Reaper power creating his OG Zangetsu. Remember, Nimaiya said that the Black Hollows that Aizen was creating were functionally similar to Nimaiya's Asauchi. So, White essentially became that replacement for the Asauchi when getting the initial Zanpakuto. He didn't get his powers like a Soul Reaper. He got them in a similar way that an Espada gets their sword but he's not a Hollow so it was functionally more like a Soul Reaper.
Remember, that he's not ACTUALLY a Hollow. When his mom got bit she was germinated with the embryo of that Beta version of an Arrancar then that seed was suppressed by Ishin and then passed on to Ichigo. Only after the events in Season 1 did it actually "hatch" because it became too powerful to suppress by Ishin. It was a separate entity inside him that tried to overtake his soul until he suppressed it and then it fused together with the Soul Reaper part of him which is what its original design was from the beginning. As was the initial goal of Aizen's experiments to create a Hollow soul with Soul Reapers souls or vice versa to create a higher being.

So his Soul Reaper power is actually almost kind of multi-layered because he has his own power + the residual power of whatever Soul Reapers were used in the creation of White.
I have to say that I almost cried at the end of episode 13. They adapt "The blade IN me" to "The blade IS me", the most important episode of all Bleach. Ichigo's journey of self-discovery, depression, courage, self-acceptance finally reaches its peak.

yep amazing, thats what the chains and bandages symbolise, when he was in his Dangai form against aizen the chain was going all over his hand cuz zangetsu needed to supress more power there, and when he was in his final getsuga he had bandages all over his body and chain marks over one of his hands cuz zangetsu suppresed a lot of his power there. When he is in Bankai form his chain is small cuz he does not have that much power and Zangetsu need to suppress only a small amount thats why his chain is smaller

Ywach gets older every time he gains power from other quinces, so when Zangetsu did the opposite and relinquished his powers to Ichigo during the final battle with Aizen, he got younger and became Tensa Zangetsu.

What I do love about white being the real zangetsu is that imagine you were created after being insider of the weilder's mother and your job is to guide, teach and protect your weilder but the weilder always pushes you way, thinking that you are evil. Remember the design of Final Getsuga Tenshou? Long black hair, the technique that makes the user lose all powers. Similar to Uryu's Letz Stil he used against Mayuri. Now that we know ichigo is a Quincy too, I think that form was Ichigo's Quincy + shinigami powers (mostly Quincy). We also have a chain motif for Ichigoi's Zanpaktou. Earlier it was a cloth wrap, then his bankai and Fullbring have chains. Even Final GT has bandages wrapped around. Maybe to show that Old man was restricting Ichigo's powers? (as we just found out that he is restricting his Shinigami powers) Just some assumptions

The reason OMZ wasn't considered to be a Zanpakuto previously is not Cz he's a Quincy representation but his way of protecting Ichigo by not being a Zanpakuto but pretending to be. So in the end, in this episode, he accepted being a zanpakuto. But it's funny, how the water shocks everyone compared to what Zangetsu said, a fragment of his power defeated Captains, Aizen, Espadas, etc
the time ichigo met “tensa zangetsu” he looked like a younger “zangetsu” which could mean that’s how Yhwach loooked in his even younger days also dangai ichigo was kind of a preview of the ichigo we have now a true fusion of soul reaper hollow but we were unaware of his Quincy side playing into it
We do see a single panel in the manga of a young Yhwach. And yeah he looks exactly like Tensa Zangetsu.
So to recap: The hollow White was transferred to Ichigo through his mom and became an asauchi for his shinigami powers, giving him both shinigami/hollow abilities. He never received a real asauchi but was able to create a zanpakutou in this way. He also had quincy powers from the start and they suppressed his shinigami/hollow abilities all the way up to now and were represented by old man "Zangetsu". The hollow white/his asauchi was his real shinigami powers and the hollow white is always accompanied by the rain. That's why Zangetsu said in the past "I hate the rain" because it represents Ichigo relying on his Shinigami/Hollow powers in favor of the Quincy powers that "Zangetsu" wanted him to use. At the end of the previous series, the entire world is submerged by the rain since Ichigo's Hollow/Shinigami powers took over and old man "Zangetsu" made peace with it as he mentioned now. Ichigo now is at peace with his shinigami/hollow and quincy powers and can use them to his hearts content. He has a huge amount of Reiatsu since he is a descendent of a great Shinigami house and an "Echt" Quincy house, in other words, OP.

The poem at the end of episode 12 was old man Zangetsu, the foreshadowing for this moment has been a thing even in the old series. More people should have caught on that old man Zangetsu and Yuha have the same VA. In the fight between Ichigo and Yuha "Nothing can be explained" was played which is Old Man Zangetsu's theme song.

When Ichigo first met "Old Man Zangetsu" he tried to tell Ichigo his name. It was blurred out however yet if you go back you can still her him pronounce the "aha" at the end of "yuha baha". The syllables match up too for the whole name
Take a look at the screen at 10:38. His name is blurred out. Now recall the very first time Ichigo met Old Man Zangetsu and he tried to say his name. He was trying to say his REAL name back then.
In the anime, that sound is distorted, but in the manga, it's blurred out with ink, just like in this screen...and there is a very interesting reason behind this...

They've done a great job at adapting the manga. Watching first time reactions to this stuff brings back so many memories. The anime only viewers got a treat that the original manga readers didn't get. When Yhwach first appeared in the manga, he's drawn with very little facial hair and it's obvious that he looked very similar to Old Man Zangetsu. It initially led to a lot of confusion because we didn't get the Quincy explanation until many chapters later.
Oh and an easter egg in early Bleach.. There is a scene that shows Ichigos bed and the blanket has a Quincy cross as its design. It was early in the anime before he was friends with Ishida.

"The Blade is Me" has the same energy as "I AM HIM"
Theres nice symbolism that most missed in this episode. Right when Ichigo pulled out the new blades, they started glowing. The short one was blue (Quincy) while the longer one was red (Hollow) lights. Those two changed their colours to yellow (Ichigo). They literally showed us that Zangetsu is Ichigo, Ichigo is Zangetsu.
This is also a contrast to a older episode/chapter where the title was “The Blade AND Me” (when Ichigo first learned “Zangetsu’s” name) which is now “The Blade IS Me”
Tensa Zangetsu is basically Ichigo’s Quincy power in bankai. They are both Zangetsu after all
I'm pretty sure uryu found out something from the record book he was looking for, and found out why and how his mother died, and definitely he know how to stop yhwach that is why he joined them for a personal reason...

There’s obviously many factors behind white’s protectiveness of Ichigo, but it’s also important to remember his soul was linked to both of Ichigo’s parents. White probably inherited at least part of their love for him

I think the reason why ichigo his spiritual power in the beginning and his getsuga tenshou were blue is because of the power het got from his quincy powers. Later when he started using his bankai his soul reaper powers got less suppressed making the getshuga become black. In the beginning of TYBW you can also see his getsuga is black now instead of blue because his soul reaper powers arent that suppressed anymore.
Ichigo's Getsuga being blue in the original anime was a mistake.

Also Michael if you haven’t or did watched the filler arc with the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc, it was also foreshadowed that when old man Zangetsu (Quincy power) was separated from Kurosaki Ichigo, True Zangetsu (White) assisted Kurosaki Ichigo to defeat old man Zangetsu and to beat Muramasa. Old man Zangetsu was shocked while in Bankai that Ichigo in his Shikai form overpowered him.

Tensa Zangetsu is a fusion between younger Juhabach manifestation and the Hollow. It is a Quincy-Hollow hybrid Ichigo fought to master the Final Getsugatensho. Ichigo fought another Quincy-Hollow hybrid with Quilge Opie (after absorbing the Chimera) fighting to awaken the latent quincy powers.
Hollow Ichigo didn't lie when he called himself Zangetsu
At the end of the episode when he says the blade is me it's in the literal sense. A shinigami's Zanpakuto is a physical representation of their soul. That's why when their zanpakuto get broken they're close to death when it happens. A zanpakuto isn't a separate spirit that fights alongside a shinigami. They're a representation of who they are. That's why when Nimaiya was talking about an Asauchi he said they sleep, eat and train with it and then, after pouring their reiatsu into it, it transforms into a full on Zanpakuto cause they're pouring what's essentially their essence into it

Pretty much mirroring when he trained with zangetsu to get bankai and had to find his 'true' sword

In the early episodes one of the titles when he discovered Zangetsu is “The Blade and Me” and this one is “The Blade is Me” which I find beautiful

Old man zangetsu was Yhwach
White hollow was Zangetsu (hollow+shinigami powers)
Now both are zangetsu, the bigger represents hollow+shinigami, the shorter his quincy
It was explained back then that Tensa Zangetsu is Old Man Zangetsu's Bankai form. That's all I'll say for now.
mera can be translated to = FIRE and she having a fiery personality and starts the fire at the furnace for reforging zanpaktou all connected nicely
