We've been joking about it all week. And the square root of two (which was an attempt to say, "it's not a simple thing you can calculate in your head").
Nice work George and Beth...except for the first "maths"🤣 I had the same situation a few years ago with a few fuses like the one you pointed to blowing within a week for no reason. The lineman said there was a bad batch.
@southernadirondackoutdoors About Maths: George left out the part where he used the blade to find that 12" up was 2" higher than the center of the large end (couldn't get the blade all the way down on the big end). Then he added 2" instead of subtracting, and raised the small-end center to 14". I'm lousy at arithmetic, but even I knew that was off.
@@ImprovCrafting Hi Beth, Sometimes the camera makes us mix up figures and words...at least that is what I blame it on 😁 George needs something on that blank wall behind the mill, his logo perhaps or maybe you have suggestions you can tell him.
Cedar here when it gets that big is used ally hollow It would likely be whiter when it was fresh cut. It statered to stain looks like it’s been cut for a year or so
@TheWildWestMill Is there some way to get that lovely silvery white back? I put the outside cuts near a warm stove to dry, but I really liked that look. It's why I made George wait for me to cut the log.
@ not really a wood worker but I know the sun uv rays are your enemy when it comes to wood staining some species gotta dry them in the complete dark to keep their colour. Sorry I can’t really help
Pretty awesome finished product thanks for sharing that
@@TheWildWestMill it's a cool piece I may use in my game room.
Good video George. I think that that Cedar is the best one I've ever seen.
@@TheOldManAndTheSaw Nate has some that are just as nice, one is even bigger
@@mcsawmill Looking forward to the video.

Cool idea! So instead of quarter sawn it’s eighth sawn or octagon sawn lol
@@davekraft5051 I like it, octsawn.
I was wondering if it was aromatic like red cedar. Saw your reply to another with the answer.

@ probably not buddy once the oxygen and sun hits it it will start to stain right away only thing you could do is some kind of finish on it

I kinda like that wood too. Does it have any cedar smell?
@@andysmith8544 it doesn't smell like red cedar, Beth says it smells like cedar but she isn't very picky about her wood.
The tree kind. If it looks pretty or smells good, I'm happy.
