That’s a cool attachment! Can’t wait to see the different ways you can use it! My granddaughter who’s 7yrs old watched the video with me and she said you could build log cabins with that!
@@davekraft5051 lol, log cabins! That's actually one of the uses, you cut a flat, turn 180° and cut another flat. But it's easier to just use the saw without this
That thing is cool! You just need to figure out a way to mount a tool rest in there so you can use your gouges on it and create custom poles.🤣 I have an LT15 Start. I've never measured the minimal distance between roller guides. I didn't realize how far it is between them. Skid steers are fun.
@@ericcartrette6118 the Lt15 wide is really designed for making slabs, it's 10" wider that the Lt15 start. This tool is designed for your mill. I couldn't live here without my skidsteer. Thanks.
Lots of potential with that. Maybe the next version of Lathemizer will come with hydraulic lifts at each end so you won't have to risk smashing a hand chucking your log.
Hey George if you get chance or feel like it could you do a video on the lathemizer in more detail, a full walk around? Cheers, keep up the great work.
That’s pretty interesting, seems like there is a lot of bounce in the blade due to the constant up and down pressure from the spinning. I’m sure practice will give you a good idea of optimal speed to cut at. 👍🏻
@@ChuckShaull-qj4um carbides are 3x normal blades and stay sharp about 3-4 times as long BUT they cut significantly slower and straighter and leave a better finish.
Look Ma, No Maths! If it makes things easier on you I'll trade my standard LT15 for your Wide, the guide pulley goes down to about 8 inches. 😁 It would be neat to try a regular blade and compare the cuts, maybe when its -10F.🤣

I Love That Lathe! I always wanted one. Cant wait to see what you come up with to Make!
Couple Giant Timber Framers Pegs would Be Awesome!😂
@@TwoGuysTimberframing oh I'm gonna make some pegs just to see you drill a 6" hole lol ..
I was surprised to see you put up a video. This NEO weather is great for hibernating!
@@ScottTaipaleRail it warmed up a bit and sun came out so I got motivated.
AWESOME new toy!
Looking forward to seeing more of what you do with it!
One of the things I have planned is making some giant timber framing pegs from white oak for the guys over at @TwoGuysTimberframing
I had no idea how they worked, pretty cool set up. Look forward to learning what you can do with it. Hardwood, that's gonna be interesting.
@@andysmith8544 it's a fun toy, but there is a learning curve to operating it. I really want to see if it makes square cants.

Two small scissor jacks would really help. Lucky the log wasn't oak or locust. Cool tool.

Blade guides need to be closer together when cutting the cylinder.

Cool tool. If you make a stop cut with a chisel where the hex to round transition is you can eliminate the chip out. Enjoy your videos. Thanks

@@SwampSawyer I think a bigger log would work better, that bounce was because log was flexing.
@ gotcha. Practice makes perfect 😁
Yeah bring your saw blade guide in closer to the log
I wonder if you could use that to get some quartersawn lumber ??!
@@TheWildWestMill no cause it rotates around the center so boards are plain sawn. Rings always tangent to blade.
Now you just need a couple of motorized chain lifts to help get the logs in place on the lathe. 😂
@@michaelroberts2996 omg no joke. You only saw 25% of that struggle...
Might want to increase blade tension a bit and move the blade guide closer to your work piece. the blade sure was bouncing
@@JohnWinsemius that was as far in as blade guide goes. But I agree if it was closer it would work better.
-16 to -20 in MN coming soon. Heating the shop will be hard.

What do you think of the carbide blade. Will it out cut a regular blade for the difference in the price and what do they cost.

lol yea can I turn an ice log.. I won't be sawing in -10F. I will try a 747 blade just to see how good that does.
