I didn't witness them except MJ and Kobie, but we should not disrespect the other legends so easily like Karrem 6 rings as a scoring leader of all time for so long but not a GOAT? Because his not all around position in 80s? now LeBron is the Goat the greatest scorer of all time? Because of same achievement if we not bias that is ridiculous remember LeBron James is the most supportive Carrer in history social media and cherry picking super team much more power than coach and stuff I ever witness I wonder why some of his fans want more but it's not cuz debate can't be settled forever, ESPN and fans support LeBron by saying LeBron deserve to have a championship without winning the league that's ridiculous LeBron needs help etch he got everything he needs whats more? but majority of peaple not saying his not the greatest of all but sadly his fans are want more that makes them sad.
LeBron gain another achievement as a legacy which Wilt, next is Kareem and that's phenomenal too 👍🏻

I LOVE JJs take, It drives me crazy when people don't understand that the illegal defense changes were far more important that the fouls. For the same reason, Kobe Bryant's career is horribly underrated, as the game took a while to adjust to the new rules and add a lot of shooters to space the floor, Kobe faced constant soft double and triple teams, something that Jordan just never had to deal with.

What you left out is it was fairly easy to double if not triple team Kobe because his passing ability was mediocre at best, making him predictable on offense, everybody knew he wanted to shoot it. LeBron on the other hand is an elite passer, so if you consistently soft double, he is going to kill you all day long with court vision. Kobe would shoot threw doubles which hurt his efficiency significantly, however, Bron would just find the open man, forcing you to stay honest defensively allowing open lanes for himself.

JJ brought up a very valid point about the pace of possessions. As an exercise science/kinesiology major, we learn that the leading cause of injury across the board is “wear and tear” and stress on the tendons/ ligaments (micro tears) without a proper and lengthy recovery. Your body needs proper and quality time to recover especially in joints with the ball and socket mechanism due to them having great mobility, but less stability. Exercise at a high intensity/pace day in and day out is incredibly taxing on the body even with proper strength and mobility exercises. You must also think about cartilage degeneration with repeated action over time. Staying healthy and on top of your game for as long as Lebron has is mind-boggling and many suspect him of taking/spending millions on researched steroids without significant adverse effects to enhance his recovery to an unprecedented degree.

Lebron is naturally a genetic freak anyway, but it's easier for him to stay healthy with modern medicine. It's well documented how much money he spends maintaining the health of his body, along with today's rules where you're not hitting the hardwood or being abused on the court nearly as often. All of this coupled that with load management...

Btw, despite MJ being the GOAT for me, I know he wouldn't be as great as he was without the bulls management from the owner to the GM, specially the GM, at that time, each and every move he made was genius. He brought in Phil, which got Scottie to play as well as he has in that system and gave him the confidence to be a defensive specialist and a versatile player, and MJ buying in to trusting his teammates, also throwing away the coke bulls roster for the one that was always fighting for Eastern conference supremacy until they got over the Pistons and won 3 chips, then upon retirement the team was fine even without MJ because of the pieces he got like Kerr and others, then getting Rodman and Kukoc which made them a legendary team with the 2nd most regular season wins.
It's not all MJ, but he's still the GOAT despite all of that in my eyes. Though you can't seem to see how great other players are because you're a narrow minded bigot

Guards Oscar vs West. Later it was Magic vs Bird. There was always debate about who was better, but with one big difference.
Before social media, being "one of the all-time greats" was enough. People didn't need to crown one person and downgrade everybody else with the condition, "Yeah but he's not... (fill in the blank)".

He has most points than everyone else, but that's the record for longevity, congratulation to Lebron because he jas the most consistent scorer in the history of this game and that's why he has the most points ever, but we also have to talk about their peak. I'm sorry, but Jordan won 10 SCORING TITLES IN HIS 13 SEASONS WITH CHICAGO, 10 SCORING TITLES. He has highest points per game average in NBA history in both regular season and play offs. Lebron won only 1 scoring in his career and some people can argue that Lebron wasn't even the best scorer in his era because 2010s was clearly Lebron's era, he was the best in that time, you can argue that Kevin Durant was better scorer than Lebron. More points eopr game in his best season, 4 scoring titles, much more efficient player than Lebron and simply when ypu watch jow he plays, he is probably the most versatile scorers of all time. Jordan was light years better scorer than everybody else when he played, miles ahead of the rest of the competition and to say that Lebron with 1 scoring title and with his scoring recordis the greatest scorer in the history of this game is to me ultimately too much. 1. @@RunningRugby4 That's what Kevin Garnett said. Technically, and literally, LeBron is the greatest scorer (he said).
Mike (and Kobe) had 12 seasons with 25 or more points per game. LeBron has 19 straight seasons with 25 or more points. 10x top 3 in ppg, 13x top 5 in ppg, 8 seasons in a row with the 2nd most total points, and later the 1st most points in the league. It's not longevity alone, but very high points per season as well.

      @ninocrown3247 Год назад +2

JJ just gave a longevity speech. Doesn’t mean he was a better scorer than MJ. Just means he played longer and had a longer peak than MJ. That’s like saying Tony Parker was a better scorer than prime Derrick Rose, because he has more career points and rings. Anyone who saw them both play, knows that’s ridiculous. TP was an underrated scorer too, due to Pop’s system. But he still wasn’t f*cking with prime D Rose. Injuries not talent and ability, is why he doesn’t have more points than Parker.
JJ’s critique is devoid of context. He’s just spouting stats. Nevermind how long MJ played versus Lebron. Nevermind, how the pace of the game is much faster and higher scoring, for the last 8 seasons. Nevermind, MJ has a career average of 30.1 over 15 seasons, without shooting many 3s.
This is more of a recency bias issue. Younger fans think Lebron is a better scorer and that’s their right. I saw both their careers like Kobe’s. Lebron is not a better pure scorers and isn’t as skilled offensive as MJ or Kobe. He a better passer and better downhill, that’s it. Just because Giannis is averaging more than KD and Steph, doesn’t mean he a better scorer. Those guys can beat you so many different ways. Giannis is all raw power, but to his credit his jumper has improved. I also think he deserves MVP or Embiid not Jokic.
I don’t agree with Russo, because Kareem’s scoring was limited to the blocks. MJ, Kobe and Lebron could score from anywhere on the court. In terms of big men and just putting points on the board in the paint, then it’s Wilt. Kareem played longer than Wilt. Lebron played longer than Jordan. Doesn’t mean they were better scorers, they just accumulated more points.

You know, a lot of people say LeBron has done this all in a weaker league where fouls aren’t as hard, players don’t play as physical, etc. but they forget that the league morphed into that, BECAUSE OF MJ. They literally changed the rules of hand checking, and amount of contact you could put on an offensive player before it was a foul, BECAUSE OF MJ. Now granted, they HAD to hit MJ that hard to even slow him down slightly, but when you take a step back and look at it? They changed the rules to cater to their “golden goose”. The NBA saw what MJ could become for them and their brand, and changed the rules to suit that narrative. But no one ever talks about that 💀. Also, taking years off to go mess around in baseball, to me is considered a vacation. Both physically and mentally. Then he got to come right back after he already retired, and do it again 💀. They catered to MJ. Point blank period. He was their “golden boy” and their ticket to league success, so they changed everything for him.

JJ showed his wisdom. Harder fouls doesn't necessarily mean better defenders. Pickup games at the YMCA can sometimes have harder fouls than organized ball. Watch re-runs of 80s games - quite a few unathletic players who barely bend their knees on defense, but they'll still hack you hard.

And that hard hack keeps soft players from driving to the basket unchallenged.
People actually took pride in not giving up a basket. Especially allowing a dunk.

The players committed those "hard" fouls because that was the only way to get a foul called. Players were much more physical in Jordan's day because the officials let them play physical. Today's NBA is geared to be faster, and much more for offense, calling fouls much more liberally with much less contact.

Yes it absolutely is easier to defend then and harder to guard now, but the night to night pride on that end has been going down for a while and it starts at the youth level but also is just a trend in the game. Offense is exciting.

As a kid born in 94 I’ll just say I prefer to watch MJ just cause that’s what/who my dad had on the tv…so in that way it’s just nostalgia. HOWEVER, LeBron is greatest player I’ve ever seen. The way people diminish the length of LeBron’s prime is craaazy and we literally wouldn’t do that anywhere else in society.

@@montagehq9872 I believe the posters point was that he has had contributions to those points made existing. If you're putting people in positions to score and drawing defenders to yourself than obviously you've had a fairly big say on whether those buckets actually happened. It is often the case that great players pass up the chance to make more points because they dish it off to give someone a higher percentage shot at getting the score. It's team basketball and it's why he is the most well rounded player who has ever existed.
