The proverb "How easy is it to defeat people who can no kindle the fire for themselves" implies that it is straightforward to overpower or take advantage of individuals who lack the ability to initiate or manage essential tasks or activities on their own. In a broader sense, it suggests that those who are dependent on others for even basic necessities or actions are vulnerable and may be easily controlled or manipulated. This proverb underscores the importance of self-sufficiency, resourcefulness, and independence in one's life.

Governor Sakaja was actually in the show last week or so and he said that he's expanding the schools capacity to accommodate more pupils while also trying to adding more schools. As for the feeding program, I believe it's beneficial as it actually boosts pupil retention in the schools as they are motivated to stay in schools because hunger becomes a non issue. And it is a big issue in the poor backgrounds.

When education was first introduced to us by the missionaries, the aim was to produce, nurture and populate our communities with enough reasonable, learned, accountable and ethical individuals. There was also the objective of raising solid, holistic and accountable leaders. When education became a politics, democracy & rights battleground, we lost it. Indeed, what the government is doing currently is very unreasonable. But also, Muthoni and other global activists are themselves not being honest. Ultimately, their AGENDA is to make education another rights issue whose end product is something that's known as "open societies." Until we can get an education system that gives us value in form of solidly established leaders and communities, we need to continue praying.

I mean what working system was it modelled after? Is it a cruel experiment on future generations to dumb them down? Look at India and what they are achieving at the global stage, their system emphasis is to develop a pool of scientifically inclined manpower, they are reaping dividends from this. On school feeding, the fact that we don't have enough schools is a problem, but so is the fact that some kids aren't getting food. Considering the hierarchy of needs, I would go with feeding children. To prove my point, flip the situation: say a politician ensured that schools were built and/or expanded but it was discovered that the kids had no food? There would be an uproar. "Mheshimiwa, mtoto wangu atakula hio desk??!" People would make the same complaint, that the politician wanted to do something shiny instead of doing the right thing. I agree, though, that any intervention, especially those requiring huge amounts of taxpayer money, should be backed by evidence. Still, calling school feeding a joke is a slap in the face to those who need the help.
I also find it curious that she doesn't recognise that school feeding is both an education issue AND a health issue. Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food. Proper nutrition is vital for the mental and physical development of growing children and is clearly overlooked by this education expert. It would be interesting to know how stunted growth due to poor nutrition affects the learning capabilities of students. Might it be a mistake to have them seated in state-of-the-art labs but unable to understand what they are being taught? She should look up the devastating effects that starvation has on a person's mental health.

She is not against school feeding. She is against it being prioritized by the Nairobi City County Government. School feeding is of course a noble course but it should be handled by the concerned ministry at the national level. Otherwise, what's the reason for having a Constitution? It's shameful for the Nairobi City County Government that only 11% of children of ECDE age can attend formal ECDE schooling in Nairobi. They ought to focus on fixing this

@@Beatrichay Her point is; the argument that the high levels of truancy in Nairobi public schools can be attributed to hunger amongst the learners, is not backed up by any data. On the contrary, countless research reports indicate parents shy away from registering their kids in schools because of the levies charged. So between the 5/ required for lunch, and the 3000/ required to buy the desk so the learner can actually be enrolled in the school, which one is the government's role?

You didn't seems to hear when she said that there have already been 13 reports on what needs to be done as a solution to the Ministry of Education. So if you're asking for a solution the GovKe has all these recommendations at hand and are just unwilling to implement/fund the shared discourse...(cause they're no two ways about it)

What Sakaja said is that he went in a public school and asked the children what they want and the children did not say they want a school bus or a football but the children said they want food and that's why Sakaja decided all children in Nairobi will get food as long as he's in power which for me i think it's a good idea. Building of classes and equipping of those schools should go hand in hand with the feeding program bcoz in Nairobi especially slums children are starving.

I checked out on minute 12. Your guest adds nothing in terms of a constructive interrogation of the issues in the education sector. She takes a mallet to government but doesn't note the externalities like the debt and other commitments such as healthcare. Funding issues were also true under president Park Chung Hee in the 60s-70s as he built South Korea. Guess what.... they got there. No push back from the presenters because they themselves don't have the facts on education.

debt the government has been stealing and we pay for non-existent project. the taxes collected or event the so called debt was enough to fund our education system even the healthcare you are talking about. Any debt borrowed should be for development as per the constitution. and what has the government been doing with the huge debts beside expensive infrastructure. the current government has borrowed and not shown the development projects it has funded. The problem is theft in the government so should check those facts first before coming to call out others on fact checking while you are giving arguments that dont hold water!
