I've had my Narset Deck for YEARS, I'll never dismantle it because when it was first built as huge token generating deck, I had assistance from a Friend who has unfortunately since passed away due to stomach cancer. I have massively altered it since to become the beast of a deck it is now and I play it vary rarely with the whole consent of the table. Yes it does mean that I have a huge target on my back but that's the risk and joy of the challenge of now playing it.

I only run 3 or 4 wraths (the standard) and I do run MLD, but my friends don't hate it because if it resolves they just accept that I win, and also because I run only 2 or 3 MLD cards in the deck and run no tutors, so it's not one of those "it happens every game" situation. My philosophy is, if you have an archetype of deck thats mean, make it as close to Cedh as possible, so that no one can complain when you all agree to bust out the high power levels. I love tinybones, but discarding is no fun to vs, so i’m working on slowly upgrading it with cards like ancient tomb and mana crypt one day.

  • @MageSkeleton
    @MageSkeleton 2 года назад +10

Part of why i enjoy Cedh (Competitive commander) it's "casual" enough that it's still a 3-4-5 player game but everyone's aiming to actually WIN the game through some method that either makes everyone else concede (Dranith Magistrate and Knowledge Pool) or something that actually "Wins the game". Thassa's Oracle ended up being so easy to win with it became "the way to win" my LGS rule 0 banned it from tournament play. Alot of these commanders (while they are not "fun" to play against) they end up easily getting "shut down" or take too long to "setup".

I really don't get all the hate about specific playstyles in EDH at all. Commander is about having fun and expressing yourself so if you want to play stax because it's a completely fine and fair way to play Magic. You should be allowed to. My largest gripe with EDH is how often people get targeted for playing stax because I firmly believe it's not only overhated, but healthy for the format and fun. Having a unique set of restrictions to work around makes the game more fun. Don't even get me started on the "no removal" rules people make.

They have to work for it, tergrid dies to removal constantly, but if they fight through it and start going off, then it’s fun having the table fight to discard or sacrifice instants, sorceries and land cards to try and deny them any real power while we bide our time. I don’t think it should be banned at all, that would be a shame. And we would still let them play it anyways. There are a lot of sensitive players out there I suppose.

basically "at the begining of each aponants upkeep, they lose 13 life, sacrifice a creature, and puts a +1/+1 counter on ob nixilis unshackled, you search their library for any card, exile it, you may cast that card and spend mana as if it were mana of any color to cast that spell"
oh, and shorthand "each aponant quits the game"

    Maralen of the Mornsong $21.99
    Glacial Chasm $4.36
    Ad Nauseum $9.98
    Sickening Dreams $0.25
96 Swamps (If you have enough)
Total $36.58 (If you don't include basic lands)

Easily one of the meanest decks I’ve played against Umbris, Fear Manifest. He gets a +1/+1 counter for every card an opponent exiles and whenever a Horror or Nightmare enter the battlefield a target opponent exiles cards until they exile a land card. Just overall not fun to play against.

Out of the listed decks, I'd want to build Derevi and Tinybones - I'd probably be doing just an evasive deck with Derevi without stax pieces and try to tap/untap cards that can tap for more than 1 mana into instant speed big spells during Combat (maybe put in a Kruphix or Horizon Stone to keep my mana between phases) or maybe a Helix Pinnacle wincon
Tinybones... I want to see how a discard deck looks, because it does use cards that other decks don't want to touch with a 10ft pole
I have Painful Quandary in my Liesa deck and it's okay, it's kind of heavy in there, and in that deck most of the time I'm just punishing my opponents for casting spells, healing or preventing certain actions like via Containment Priest or Aven Mindcensor. And I also have some swords in there too to smack people harder

    - No mass lands destruction

You CAN play Tergrid or Narset and don't be a jerk. Just don't use cards that make your opponents discard or sacrifice, or do a group hug with Narset. With praetors you are simply a straightforward jerk because you can't stop their abilities from doing their thing. Oh, and for Maralen, have you heard of Thrumming Stone and Pack Rats/Shadowborn Apostle? BTW, my jerk deck is Fynn. Killing all opponents at once on turn 5? Why not!
