    The most absurd 1st turn I ever saw was from a Tergrid player. They went 1st. Swamp, dark ritual, jeweled lotus. Is it really that bad? I'm currently trying to make a "steal your opponents' stuff" deck with sen triplets as the commander, but i don't want my playgroup to cast me out xD
      at first sight it doesn't seem that horrible: i'm still spending my own mana on my own turn, and i might not even have the proper lands. it's like a mix of discard and shitty impulse draw, isn't it?

    If You know the deck and can play it proper, the "coin" flip in cEDH is really not that a big of problem. You can play it in tornaments, and it wins some times - becose its really good deck. You just need to "short" the coin flips (for example, if you need roll 3 of them, and "re-roll" the failed - then roll 3 dice at once, and re loll all that failed - you can do it in "seconds" ).

    Besides ignoring commander tax i think the thing that hurts Yuriko players is that they build the deck so gimmicky that it’s boring to play against. For example putting a bunch of cards in the deck SOLELY for the purpose of burning the table. Feels like they basically never actually cast interesting spells which is a waste of one of most interesting value engines in commander.
    When i built my Yuriko deck I specifically tried to build it in a way where i actually do things with the deck. All of the cards are actually playable and it’s helped a lot. I also pick and choose my spots to strike to i don’t get immediately hated off the board

Thrantis was the Commander, so everything had to attack every turn, and it was a goad deck, so those attacks were never coming my way. Out of those commanders, I have 2 (Krarkashima, and Tergrid, though tergrid has yet to see play) put together, and at some point I wanted to make decks for Narset and for Augustus, although that's kind of folded into wanting to make a deck for Hinata, and Urza's come to mind since his price dropped down so much.
    And I will bring Krarkashima out when I'm feeling salty or feeling the need to be able to counter stuff fast and hard early in the game, it just gets tedious once I've got more than four krark triggers per spell cast.
    I've got 9+ counter spells in that deck, an untold number of cantrips, several spells and creatures that copy creatures on the field, and several sources of netting mana off of casts. I consider it the very essence of Izzet. It'll either blow up over everything or go out with a fizzle, and I'll be laughing like a madman the whole time.

    The problem with Krarkashima is that usually people doesn't know how to play it or against it.
    I want to elaborate more because I know someone is going to come and say "that argument is not valid" or "are you going to say to us to play more target removal?" And yes, I'm going to say that but it's not the main point.
    The problem with Krarkashima is that the person who plays it really needs to know how to play it and when to go wild. First of all, is not a casual deck, it's a high power edh pair of commanders that want to combo, storming all the games they are in. So, the person who plays the deck needs to build it in a way thay they know they are going to win, not to speculate to win. If you sit on a table and someone plays krarkashima always ask them how do they win. If they tell you that "is luck based" or "when the decks wants" that is bad deck building. Help them if you can to make their deck better and consistent.
    And finally: know when to concede to a Krarkashima deck. If the deck is going wild and cast 2/3 Jeska's Will in a row, you are dead for sure. Concede and go to other game. Stop complainint about that. Kill their commanders, stop the storm mechanic and the deck is dead.

    • @astuteanansi4935
      @astuteanansi4935 Год назад +2

      Jeleva needs to get recast in order to "refuel", which makes it clunkier than Narset, who consistently spins the wheel every single turn. Jeleva also has no protection. And she exiles face-up, so everyone knows exactly what you spun into. Even if by some godly luck you spun into four extra turns, your opponents can immediately remove her and you lose access to these spells because she doesn't remember cards exiled by previous iterations of herself. Jeleva is a super fair card

    As a krark player a good krark player can play faster than most other decks at the table i have an app that is designed to run the deck and flip my coins and run the board state if the board state gets crazy i played it tonight at fnm and while yes some people get salty because what the deck can do i won 2 games by turn 4 and 5 of 1v1. Out of 8 ongoing games on a hr time limit one of my games was less than 5 min 2nd was less than 10 far faster than others finished. last 2 where much longer but because we both were playing control heavy. The super friends player i played last hit time limit every game including mine. I can see the deck being disliked because yes playing a spell again and again can be pretty ridiculous. But i dont think its hated because we are all slow. But you must remember our power comes with the major draw back that we can completely flop a spell and spend mana on literal nothing. We take a gamble every card we play. Until we build an engine we are pretty harmless so maybe just dont let us build a giant engine 😂

      Pili-pala's effect is: Flying
      Pay 2, Untap: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.
      Grand Architect effects are: Other blue creatures you control get +1/+1.
      Pay 1 blue mana: Target artifact creature becomes blue until end of turn.
      Tap an untapped blue creature you control: Add 2. Spend this mana only to cast artifact spells or activate abilities of artifacts.
      So what you do while you have both on the field is:
      1) Make pili-pala into a blue creature.
      2) Tap him to produce 2 colorless mana.
      3) Pay the 2 mana to untap him for one mana of any color.

    Yeah, I just don't play against someone if they pull out a Tergrid deck. I just expect plays like a 3 CMC card that makes each player discard, and the player getting 10-15+ mana's worth of value --not wasting the 1 game I get a week against that.

    • @simonteesdale9752
      @simonteesdale9752 Год назад +1

      TLDR: Tergrid doesn't work with blightsteel, and whether Eldrazi Titans work depends on who's turn it is.
      It doesn't work with blightsteel because Blightsteel has a replacement effect (it uses the word "instead"), so it never goes to the graveyard and doesn't use the stack.
      Meanwhile, Tergrid has a triggered ability (you can see this because it uses the word "Whenever") This triggered ability uses the stack, and can be responded to. The ability will only return the creature if it's still in the graveyard when Tergrid's ability resolves.
      The Eldrazi Titans also have triggers to shuffle themselves in. Who's triggers resolve first depend on who's turn it is. On Tergrid's turn, or if Tergrid will take their next turn before the Eldrazi player, then the shuffle trigger will resolve first. (Thanks to triggers being put on the stack in ANAP order.)
