G'day mates, ResMed devices have a 'design life' of 5 years. Soon after, you will receive a lovely message on your cpap screen informing you 'motor life exceeded, contact service' . You have 3 options.
No.1 The cpap should continue to operate as normal and might run for many years if it's been well looked after. The motors do start to build up dust and get noisy and they are normally on their last legs after 7 years.
No.2 You can send your device in for repairs at ResMed. I was quoted $900 for an S9 motor replacement here in Australia.
No.3 You can buy a new cpap.
No.4 You can replace the motor yourself with an aftermarket motor of the same specifications.
General disclaimer - Obviously you are doing so at your own risk. Modifying any medical device could potentially cause harm. I would only recommend doing this if you have an old S9 or AS10 that you no longer use because it's broken etc and you just want to fix it up as a backup or perhaps a travel/camping unit etc.

Outstanding! Your vid helped me clear my Resmed 6:04 S9 "Blocked Tube" error message by enabling me to follow along your excellent tutorial and cleaning suggestions. Once disassembled per your video, cleaned and reassembled, problem solved! You've NO idea what a relief this is as it would be days or weeks even to get it repaired. Brilliant, and THANK YOU SO MUCH!😊

Hi Robert, you need some sort of special ResMed software to wipe that message. I haven't been able to get hold of it yet. Cheers

I know this was for demonstration purposes but not cleaning the foam and filter area was making me uneasy 🤣. Thank you for another fantastic video! 🍻

I love seeing these how to videos. Can you wash out the foam, and reassemble once it is dry?

Hi Mona, yeah you probably could but it's closed cell so just as easy to give it a quick wipe down. Cheers

Hey, I have not really been getting any of your videos in my feed so i need to manually check.
    Besides that.
I accidently brought a 3x pack of kids masks small
with the foam around the face part.
Would you be willing to give it to the kids to test ?.
Also i have 2 other large masks of the same type. but i am only really willing to give 1 away. I would like for you to test / and make videos on this horrible mask.
And how it feels after you get out of bed in the morning.
    What do you think ?
Thanks again for all your work :)

Thank you! I have a couple of semi-retired S9's and this video is incredibly helpful. Do you happen to know how easy/difficult it is to buy the replacement motors? Would you happen to have a part number for them? Many thanks (once again)!

Very difficult mate but check the info in the vid description. Cheers

Thank you very much for this video, I live in Mexico and my S9 bipap machine needs an urgent motor change and in my city there are no people who do it, could you guide me where to buy the motor (on line maybe)? Because here in Mexico it is very difficult to find the pieces and if you find them they are very expensive.
The motor ia the same for the S9 cpap and bipap machine right?
I really appreciate your videos and help.

Hi there, the video was just to show you the motor replacement. It's an old machine i no longer use so no need to waste time cleaning it up. Like i said in the video, i normally take apart my machines i use once a year and clean out the dust. Can just wipe it down

  • @Cowboy-Trucking61
