    I believe the reason you don’t like the Type R is because you can’t drive it very well. I don’t mean that in a bad way.
    Some people prefer an automatic gearbox and paddles. That’s fine. Lots of ways to have fun with a car. I can see it’s not enjoyable in the way you shift the Type R.
    The Type R is built to take the abuse of the track while also being a joy to drive to work, as long as you avoid the pot holes along the way :). The drive modes soften the car enough to be compliant for long trips. The interior can’t be beat with race car inspired bucket seats that really hold you through high G forces around corners.
    Only negative I’ve seen for the new Type R is it’s too quiet! Exhaust needs some work. But there’s a healthy aftermarket now with options for everyone’s budgets.

    • @GCCarsCA
      @GCCarsCA  6 месяцев назад

      I appreciate you not resorting to insults unlike some other viewers in here, ha. The manual in the Type-R is actually my favorite part! It's one of the, if not the best manual transmission I've ever had the pleasure of using. I think we didn't quite make clear that we agree that the Type-R is fantastic vehicle - it's just not for us. Especially me, who prefers communicative and more "emotional" vehicles which also connects to your point about the exhaust being a little too quite on the Type R...
      Good thing is that we're going to retest the Type R in a few weeks when we compare it to the Type S! According to other journalists, the Type S should be more to our liking :)

    Wut is happening with this review? It’s not a compelling drivers car? It’s steering is all of the place? This is like watching non-car guys review cars. That is all.

    • @GCCarsCA
      @GCCarsCA  6 месяцев назад +3

      If you're looking for performance, the Type R is absolutely incredible. It's made to set lap times and that's what it excels at. If you're looking for a fun daily, there's better options for less money. That's our verdict :)

      We made it clear that it’s a great car in a lot of ways it just wasn’t our favorite to drive for various reasons. Keep in mind our perspective that we are driving 50+ cars a year for a week each. We have no allegiance and we get it when a type R owner ls invested and doesn’t like to hear bad things about what they love.

    • @GCCarsCA
      @GCCarsCA  9 месяцев назад +1

      A masterpiece of engineering? Certainly. It's stupidly fast and incredibly capable. Just not as fun as it's competitors and that's what we value the most.

  • @jameswillard1
    @jameswillard1 8 месяцев назад +5

    You’re shifting is like nails on a chalkboard, you know you can actually shift quickly without being so abrupt with the gearbox, clutch, and gas 😬
    Anyways, I appreciate the fact that you actually criticized this car in difference to nearly every other view…..that being said I drove one of these about a month ago and disagree about there being a considerable amount of torque steer and lack of steering feel. Being that it is a powerful FWD car I realize that it’s more sensitive to ambient conditions, proper tire pressure, etc than other layouts.

    • @GCCarsCA
      @GCCarsCA  9 месяцев назад +1

      I think part of this is that I (Eric) really value communication in a vehicle, which the Type-R simply provides way too little off. It is without a doubt an incredibly potent machine and an amazing tool if you want to set fast lap times, but to us it was simply not even remotely as enjoyable as some of its competitors.
      I did talk to some other journalists about how we're kind of "out there" with our opinion on the CTR, but did find another journalist that agreed with me. He told me to try the Integra Type-S and see if I like it more... stay tuned for that!

    • @GCCarsCA
      @GCCarsCA  9 месяцев назад

      If we'd get paid by Hyundai we certainly wouldn't be losing this much money on videos, ha! Jokes aside - the Type R is an incredible well-engineered performance car that puts down performance numbers that shouldn't be possible for a FWD car. It's just not that fun to drive as it sacrifices engagement for the sake of stats and lap times. Doesn't make it a bad car by any means, but we had higher expectations.

      We both tend to enjoy very communicative vehicles, which the Type-R unfortunately is not. Not saying that the Civic isn't overall an amazing (and incredibly potent) vehicle, it just wasn't very fun to us.

  • @motormusique
    @motormusique 6 месяцев назад

    I drove a FK8 Type R for a few days...so I actually believe you about the car being kind of uncommunicative. I found the shifter was fantastic, but the engine sound was very disappointing, and the whole car still felt kind of insulated and not much steering feel. It was very capable but not as much fun as I wanted.

    Hi? Can you test drive elantra and civic type R but not you to drive it? but with the license race car driver, because as a normal driver like us, we can reach the top speed but we don't see the power in braking and corner and response of it, look at the Nascar or f1 driver, or let say rally car driver, I think those driver can do more that us cause that's their normal do in car, but in race track not in public road, this is just an suggestion, cause I'm a fan not just in type R but all newer performance car. But drive safe if you do it by yourself to test those performance cars, don't mind the car but you. God bless 🙏 🙌
