Will be a similar embargo in a few years time when Honda announce they're leaving the Australian market.
Honda have had a brain injury since the GFC, their vehicles are irrelevant, and the consumer has much better options. I bought a Honda Accord Euro brand new in 2005. I wouldn't even bother looking at their vehicles now.

Myabe I'm getting older but I couldn't see myself driving something like this at my age. Coincidentally, and perhaps a little ironic, this new design reminds me of the Kia Stinger from the sloped fast-back design accentuated by the Stinger like tail lights. The Kia may not be a track monster but it scoots. V6 Bi-Turbo power at the ready. Best of all, it is pretty cheap nowadays with the splendid Kia depreciation magic.
Loved hot hatches 10-15 years ago but you can argue the manufacturers were actually laser focused on catering to that niche; now they're double dipping throwing a spoiler and extra exhaust tips on a pedestrian going sedan body. Reminds me of the chuffs of the old days when they couldn't afford a car of their own and they convinced their parents to allow them to put on an eBay spoiler and 'bling' wheels. Never fails to get a laugh when you see an older couple driving a souped up Civic or Corolla to the shops because they know it's Junior who put those on.

Such a divisive model and brand here in Australia. The primary issues of the FL5 are affordability and availability, the latter being at the mercy of Honda head office in Japan, who could ramp up production if they choose. If placing an order today in Australia, waiting up to 2 years for a new FL5 is very frustrating. It's incredible there is such pent up demand for certain manual models, when makers complain that if both manual and automatic transmissions are offered, less than 5% of sales are manual.

The question is could you live with the ride on pock marked roads if it was your daily driver? And as manuals are like unicorns these days would grid locked traffic be another game breaker compared to an auto/DSG. For me i suspect it would be. VW's might be dull for some until you throw some mods at them and they become supercars speed wise. 235kw in the Honda is probably more than enough for FWD.

Yeah sorry can't stomach paying over 70k for a civic. It's FWD at the end of the day. Don't care how well it goes on track. Rusted on Honda Bois will all be lining up though I'm sure. The i30n sedan is such a better deal for 16-18k cheaper? It's more livable too, especially in terms of suspension and little creature comforts like heated / cooled seats , heated steering wheel and better tech. The DCT is quicker and it's sounds 100 times better. If you drive both on track together they're about neck and neck in terms of performance and driver feel. One has a track warranty as well and it's not the honda. I get Honda's history and all and they can demand these sort of prices but the competition has caught right up. Atleast it seems like a return to the 90s for them apart from the price.
