Before I review Mega Man 11, I should say that you should do things you'd like to see in Mega Man 12. Mega Man 11 is a game that split the fan base upon its release. Those who think it was a great game and those who are wrong. From start to finish Mega Man 11 is Great and Polished game, level design is top notch, weapon usage is encouraged without being forced and Robot Master Set is the best so far. The Attention to details, background, foreground everything is honed to perfection. In terms of flaws, the contols feel janky, shop and bolt system is broken, heavy on explosions and wily stages are short, should have had 6 proper wily stages like Mega Man 4, but other than that it is pretty much a masterpiece that was an invitation letter to starters and love letter for the veterans. 7.8/10
Mega Man 11 might not be my favourite game (It's third) but I really wanted Mega Man 11 to outdo Mega Man 9. As it stands, Mega Man 11 is too short. If there were more wily stages that would have made it an instant 9.3
@@MeguhFan wouldn’t that be cool, especially if they bring back the double gear system. Imagine a Bass/Treble fight where both of you are using the double gears, that’d be awesome
@@twilit8162 Oh yeah! That would be sick! I'd love to see Bass and Treble in a new game! Maybe they'd start the game evil, but when you beat them they become playable like they were in mm10.
The difficulty was just right for me. These days, games are wither cinematic walking sims or Dark Souls, and I'm glad to see a game with classic values. This and Devil May Cry 5 are among my favorite games of the modern era.
Agree. I felt it was one of the most difficult in the series. I picked the second to highest difficulty setting which is what I assume the default is supposed to be. Felt similar with the newest Ghosts n Goblins Game which is so much harder than the first two arcade titles and Super GNG on SNES ever were. They really love making those reboots of series that are known for their difficulty more difficult then they ever were
@@TheBLBShowProbably because most people buying MegaMan 11 or GnG Resurrection played the originals as kids, so they found them more difficult than they actually were. Capcom simply adjusts the difficulty for those people now buying the games as more experienced players, to better fit that nostalgic ideal of how hard these games actually were.
@@quadpad_music I like that Idea and it is true because now I can breeze through the old Megaman and GnG Games but playing the new ones felt more like playing the old games as a kid taking hours just to finish one stage. But both MM11 and GnG: Ressurection have difficulty options so newer players can still get into them easily which is nice
This classic review series has been great! I always get excited when I see that you have a new video out and I'm looking forward to your next series. Love your voice, style, and overall presentation. Great stuff!
I'm so glad to see someone enjoying this game as much as I have. This game is among my favorites, but I've been having difficulty defending it in online forums.
Yes, I'm planning on eventually reviewing the gameboys games (prob after the zero series, but we'll see). I want to review mega man and bass, but the only version I've played is the gba version, and it was pretty rough. Hopefully the super famicom version gets a rerelease soon.
The stages are too long with bad checkpoints. Being able to leave Wily's castle was a terrible idea. It takes away the idea of venturing deeper into his castle to find the evil doctor. Other than that, great installment of the Megaman franchise
@MegaFan At least it wasn't as bad as 9, where if you run out of e-tanks, you either better be really good about defeating 8 robot masters and all Wily forms, or leave and restart the whole thing
To be fair, &Bass is part of the classic series, so you are missing one. Not required, but I'd absolutely recommend playing Mega Man V (World) for the gameboy before moving onto other projects, X or whatever else you are going to do. "It's cool, really cool"-Probably your catch phrase lmao. Just as a heads up. I like mm11 but I still think it's not better than the majority of 8 bit mega man games, 9/10 included. Doesn't feel great and I don't like the double gear system in general but you are correct when you say that the level design here is best when they tried to implement that into the overall design. Agreed on the music and some of the art, it's bland for the most part, though I love the boss designs and stuff. The extras are great with the play modes and difficulty options. But I don't think it's quite as great as mm10's hard mode. Weapons are good but 4 and 9 have much better weapons overall, probably 7/8&B as well but I don't always think about them. Not as passionate about it, so not as long of a review of your review, but great work as always. Thanks for your work and time.
Thanks for the comments! I would like to play mega man and bass, and the gameboy games eventually, but I don't own any of them and I don't emulate. If a collection or rerelease comes out I'll definitely snatch them up. Why does Mega Man V (world) stand out more than the other gameboy games?
@@MeguhFan Completely original bosses and stage designs, they are based on the Planets of the Solar System. It's not like a rehash/mashup of the previous titles done on the gameboy.
It’s a fun game but it’s probably one of my least fave Mega Man games (I’d probably rank 8, MM&B and 10 lower). I feel like Capcom looked at the older games and asked themselves what people liked about them, but somehow ended up on ‘the games are hard’ and ‘the levels can be long’. This game has a serious checkpointing issue, it’s hard as balls and the stages go on forever. I think the particle effects and some of the pick-up designs sort of blend into the background too and they can get totally lost on the screen, especially in Tundra Man’s stage where I was picking up bolts and health capsules without even realising it. Still, it was great to finally get another game after all this time and it’s a worthy addition to the series. Hoping to see a MM&B review and maybe a Mighty No. 9 one if you’re feeling particularly self-loathing
I actually liked the longer levels here because I thought they balanced out the item shop, but I understand why some people wouldn't be too into it. I actually forgot Mighty No.9. I think I'm gonna do the x series next, but maybe I find a time for Mighty No.9. Thanks for the suggestion.
I played the Demo und Switch Lite and man was this Game perfect on switch lite and handheld modus only. It gave back the Gameboy Mega Man Vibe fully😃 But I got one critique on Mega Man 11 and it is the Soundtrack, which is just ok🤔
Yep, completely agree to your review! At first I didn't like MM11 - but after taking a closer look at the gear system etc. it really is one of the best - if not THE BEST - MM Game!
Willy just wanted to make heroes like a super fire fighter robot or cop robot to help out humans meanwhile Light wanted to play just god and made his own robot human
I disagree with your comment on the music. There are memorable melodies, for example the best theme in this game is Fuse Mans theme. I feel is just as good as Pharaoh Mans theme. Blast Mans theme is also very memorable. This track has a very Mega Man battle Network vibes with the blast man theme.
I very much agree with your points that the game seems very generic at first glance. I've seen the anouncement trailer when it was new and was kinda really not hyped about it. (despite having a huge megaman phase from 2010 to like 2015) I think I'm really not a fan of 2.5D games that don't use the fact that they have 3D graphics to their advantage. In the PS1 Era with games like Klonoa, Tomba 2 or both Pandemonium games they really did something with it. It's just frustrating that alot of modern 2.5D games just don't do lots of interessting stuff with it. Anyways after I played Megaman 11 years later I felt it was a good game. But it still a bit forgettable. Whereas in MM10 I played through the game many times and spent alot of time on special stages and challenge modes I didn't even bother checking out the extra content in Megaman 11. Maybe if it came out when I was still in my big megaman phase I would have loved it just as much as 10. Because objectiely I think it's as good as every other megaman game. But I think after such a long wait my expectations were just a bit too high for Megaman 11. And also I think by now Fans have made Fangames and RomHacks that are far better than anything capcom would bother to make these days. Rockman 4 Minus Infinity, RockForce and the upcoming Megaman X Corrupted are/look fantastic
Pandemonium! That's a game I haven't heard about in a LONG time! That was one of the first 2.5d games I ever played. I have mixed feeling about implementing 3d in 2.5d games. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't love rail sections in mm games (8 kind of soured it for me), and most 3d moments in 2.5d games implement rail sections, so I don't know what mm should do. Yeah, there are some great looking fan games.
@@MeguhFan Pandemonium was one of my first games as a kid. And what I meant with the 3D aspect in 2.5D games is just very basic stuff like having the option to go to/interact with a background layer. Just got the platinum trophy-achievement for that one today. Definitively not a big fan of this one. Mega Man 11 doesn’t feel right. This does not play like a mega man. It’s a very well-made game sure, the bosses and weapons are cool. But it doesn’t feel right with that double gear system, ultra long stages, armor enemies at every corner, and the amount of currency dropped to use at the shop. This is not Mega Man and i am very glad that we didn’t get another one of this kind yet. Mega Man 9 is the greatest game ever made and we not getting another one :/
Couldn’t stand the bullshit difficulty. The only reason the game was difficult is so it does not get beaten in a hour. The thing is I really wish Megman game’s especially the x series would of just went with the 21 or 25 levels other platforms have. Use the extra levels for story purposes. Make the x series actually have a deep story. That is why the mega man games stopped being so popular. It gets old doing the same thing over and over again. really wish they would of removed contact damage. Unless a enemy is actually attacking you then you should be damaged. It always bothered me in video games.
I was excited for this game and wasn’t disappointed, entirely. i raged like i used to (esp. torch man stage 😪) but the music really was meh to me for years. Now I like how action packed it is after listening to Block Man, Impact Man and Bounce Man on the go. It’s fun.
