Bro, I wish I was as 'broke' as he claims to be! I haven't seen more than $1200 at one time in my life, and that's just when I get my fixed monthly income that I then have to budget $1400/mo in bare minimum expenses! And I would kill to have a tub like that & would use it every day!
He didn't even care enough to have Amazon pick up his unneeded sound bar to get $100 back! 🙄

I totally feel you. 100% truth. I could live for years off that one box of cards he brought to the shop. Of course, I'd auction them online instead of getting ripped at the game store, but still. Anyone without the spending habits of a careless loon would do better than okay in his shoes.

I feel like this documentary kind of glossed over his biggest problem. His lack of money isn't because he spent so much money on prostitutes or collectibles. It's that he irresponsibly invested way too much money in crypto and lost pretty much all of it. He had enough money to live comfortably even if he retired from youtube. But he pissed it all away in a terrible investment. They mention it quickly at the start and never touch on it again. Instead focusing on all his collectibles and all the prostitutes he bought.
Boogie isn't a victim of the youtube algorithm or anything like that. He's someone who made a mistake and has never been able to accept that it was his fault, so he blames everyone else for it.

This sad sack routine of Boogie's is draining, man. What a miserable person to be around. I know someone in my personal life who acts like this a lot, with this self-sabotaging mentality. You try to have patience and sympathy, but at some point you reach your limit and realize they're going to pull you down into misery with them if you let them. Talking to a person like this will ruin your day. It's damn near vampiric.

He lists off his diagnoses like they're a freaking list of achievements. Dude is so insanely stuck in self-pitty mode, it's ridiculous. He _says_ enjoy what you got, but he seems to be trying to "enjoy" the negatives.
EDIT: Oh god that girl. She needs to grow up, because if all she wants is to not be alone, she could not be alone with WAY better partners... In like, every way.
EDIT2: Eh, the mushies trip 'could' be real and they just picked really odd statements to try and string the trip together. If you do a crapload of them, they can definitely reset your outlook for a time. Boogie doesn't seem like the brightest, so those straight forward statements 'could' be legit: He clearly doesn't introspect in the self-analytical way normally.

I don't have as much of a problem with the self-sabotaging stuff as some do. Depression can do that. You can be lost in doing all the wrong things for yourself because well, you're mentally unhealthy. You're not making the right decisions. My issue with him is stuff like the objectifying way he talked about women. I have no issue with sex work or wanting beautiful women, but just the way he frames it is dehumanizing. It's the kind of person he is, not necessarily his diagnoses or mood I have an issue with.

I've never been high, but I've heard that hallucinogens can be a good way to like introspect and learn about yourself in some cases, but I don't think going into it with someone who sees it as some metaphysical thing is the best idea. It can be an interesting like extra supplement/experiment, but like it's not therapy on it's own and should absolutely not be treated as such.

Building your expectations up like he did probably doesn't help either. My first LSD trip definitely changed my mindset in a big way, but I didn't come out as a completely new person, and it took a while to fully grasp the scope of it. Years even, in some aspects. Seeing the bigger picture takes a lot of distance and reflection. I also didn't hope for any of it, I just wanted to see some cool hallucinations. Maybe with the right guide I would've gotten more out of it, but still, you gotta give it time and let it do its own thing without aiming for a specific outcome. That's hard to do if you're already thinking "This could finally heal me from my trauma."

@@fiercerodent ye that's never a good way to think about it. It's never gonna be that quick and easy. I feel like it's a safe assumption that by them telling him he needs to fix it, they probably told him he needs to like make a lifestyle change to work towards a healthy weight and like yeah that takes time and that sucks but it's how you fix that. It does really seem like with a lot of his issues he just thinks like there's a way to just fix it all like a flip of a switch but he just can't quite find it, even though the ways to fix things have been shown to him at like every turn and he just like avoids them cuz they aren't easy

Hallucinogens make you approach things you normally think about in a different way. But they do not fundamentally make you better. the psylocibin bit is super hard to parse cause like i wouldn't put it past someone as manipulative as boogie to put on an act and still be able to white knuckle death grip himself into keeping his guard up while tripping, especially cause of how big he is - not to shame, just like chemically i'm also a big dude, i eat more shrooms than my little brother who's like 2% body fat.
however, i've looked into psychedelic treatments a lot and basically the real medical psychology effect of a psylocibin trip is basically the loss of ability to put true weight into things, to cling on to emotional loads - you can absolutely have a bad trip, but its reactive, in the moment. Boogie is mirroring a lot of 60's and 70's PTSD trials, its actually nuts how immediate and effective it is with the proper questioning. Soldiers really did describe and play out on film their experiences during trips as being directed to think about the horrific shit they'd had nightmares about for years and it just didn't seem like a big deal when presented gently and with reassurance that everything was safe. They were almost immediately able to move past their trauma
then ofc drug companies got it made super illegal.
but boogies next morning act is fake AF so, probably all fake.
