Oh, my... you two! Climbing a volcano should start before sunrise, with ice axes or trekking poles. Both climbers should have packs. You were very wise to call the hike. Biting off more than you were ready for... Still, you had some awesome views of the surrounding country. Glad you're both safe and whole, if tired.

Oh my! I was really worried for you when you gave the stats on the hike. Altitude and elevation gain is one thing, but when you add snow it gets critical. I won't tell you the entire horrifying story, but a coworker of mine almost lost his life from a slide on the snow in Utah. Sadly, he did loose his leg. When there is snow involved, you really need crampons, ice axes, and clothing and food to stay a couple nights if things go wrong. I am happy your experience level allowed a good call in knowing when to stop. I knew you would love Bend for all kinds of reasons! Love you two. Have fun!

Don’t forget to stop in at the Tillamook dairy factory for a tour. Try the Marion Berry ice cream! It’s delicious!
If you’re heading to Rainier in the next few weeks, you may want to consider micro spikes for the snow. They stretch over your shoes / hiking boots. The snow gets slick when the sun hits the snow.

I enjoy your videos and appreciate what you bring to the outdoor community. If I may offer up a suggestion I would recommend the 10 essentials list for all your hikes short or long. I do believe REI has this list on their website or you can Google “ the 10 essentials for hiking”. That information may also be useful for people who watch your videos and are hitting the trail for the first time. I am a avid hiker and backpacker and you just never know. I fell this week and my biggest concern was how to hike the .25 miles out. My trekking poles saved me. My pride still smarts but I made it out. I was not as cautious as I should have been on slick rock. Keep it coming. Love your content. Stay safe out there!
