      The thing about touch id is it's different from the normal Android fingerprint reader. As much as I am not a fan of apple's way of doing things, I can say for sure the reason why touch id can't be added in screen is because of the difference in the optical or supersonic fingerprint reader on all phones with in display fingerprint. Touch id uses other features too which prevents fake(dummy) hands or a dead person's hand to unlock the device. Therefore it's not as easy to add touch id into the screen itself. But they could add it into other places where there are lots of spaces though. Only time will tell.

      @User57655 Год назад +5

      The face unlock on Pixel doesn’t use anything more than the camera sensor though, as far as I know. So it’s not as secure as FaceID, it’s not correct really to describe the Pixel Face Unlock as being equivalent to FaceID

    • @damnfreakingsien
      @damnfreakingsien Год назад +2

      Apple can certainly add under-screen fingerprint recognition, but they choose not to.
      My guess is that 1) more parts = less space for other components and 2) it's nowhere near as magical as Face ID, yet it requires a bit more cognitive load than Touch ID.
      To explain what I mean by my 2nd point, to use an under-screen scanner, you need to visually locate where to put your finger. This is a little bit more cumbersome than say, locating for a scanner by feel + touch. This is a small detail, but for something you do so many times a day, it can make or break the experience. It's the reason why Face ID is so darn convenient compared to under screen scanners.

    Before everyone comments how every Android have fingerprint readers and face unlock, I wanna say something. Although not being a huge apple fan myself, it's not easy as it sounds to add a touch id to an iPhone. The thing you guys forget is touch id isn't like the other optical or supersonic fingerprint reader like every other Android phone. It senses heat and electric impulses (which prevents fake(dummies) hands or a dead person's hand to unlock the device making it wayyyy more secure than it's Android counterparts) and integrating it into the screen would be a really tough thing to do. Yes, they could add it into somewhere else other than the screen but it's upto them if they will or not but it doesn't justify when you say Android have fingerprint readers on their phones. And also the face id is NOT like face unlock on Android. Apple has gone out of their way to add a lidar sensor on the front part of their iPhone to sense all the details making it a 3d model (which means photos nor fake dummies can unlock the phone with face id) and it can see every depth of your face making it the most secure face unlock to date. So it's totally upto apple to add touch id into their future apple devices
