Enzo Dolan I read your comment before watching the video and I was thinking "tf is he talking about? Crisp video?" 10 seconds into the video and I realize what you mean.
You didn't go over the top on music, you didn't have an obnoxious intro, your logo is minimalistic and clean, and your on camera presence is great. Subbed dude, keep it up!
You got lucky, my GPU blew once and Apple replaced the motherboard for free. The replacement GPU blew in less than a year but then Apple would no longer supply a replacement mother board, even if I paid. Apart from that, the machine was excellent.
@@enwin1912 Thanks very much for the very helpful reply. My big problem though is that the GPU is not working and I need a new motherboard, the hard drive has been checked and is okay. How could I upgrade my machine? I live in Mauritius and not sure if the expertise is here to do that sadly.
Well it depends on what you want to do with the computer. most computers these days are more then capable but like I said its what your budget is and what you want to do with it. Heres what I can say go with apple if you are part of the ecosystem as in have an Iphone and or Apple TV because of the integration go with windows if you want to customize it and build a powerful system for editing video or photo or what ever. 4gb of ram min 16,32 recommended 256ssd for storage and then you be set apple or Microsoft are both good. Laptop for portability and desktop for power and speed. windows or Mac are both capable at doing what you want and MacBook Pro or Microsoft surface is amazing just up to you to decide if you want a Mac or not. I prefer them but thats just me. best of luck and if you need help feel free to ask I be more then happy to help
Hi Simon. I have been a Mac user for more than 10 years. If you are in for an Apple laptop, I would highly recommend you to consider getting the previous model: the MacBook Pro 2015. It might not look so sleek and cool in comparison to the 2016 version, but its advantages are quite convincing: it has a higher variety and number of ports, including the classic USB, the Lightning, etc. and also the MagSafe! Losing the MagSafe was one the biggest mistakes in my opinion: in my case it has prevented a lot of disasters. The screen is slightly inferior compared to the 2016 model, but it's still gorgeous and it's still a high resolution Retina Display. It's fast, stable and has a better quality/price. You can still find this model in Amazon or even in the Apple website, if you go to their Refurbished and Clearance section. For example, you can now get the 2015, 13 inch display MacBook Pro, for $929. In my opinion, it's a good deal!
I fully agree that this MacBook is too expensive, but I own the 13" with touchbar and I've had literally none of these problems. I mainly use it for editing photos and videos using Photoshop and Premiere Pro, and it has never crashed in the 6 months I've had it. I also use it for school and will usually get about 6-9 hours of actual use out of it.
It really depends on your budget but the pro is going to last a lot longer than the air, and all round seems to be much better quality. If you're set on apple then go for the pro.
Who else want Apple to just stop making it thinner & lighter (Pro is light and thin enough as it is) and instead bring back the USB + memory card slot, so we can skip this whole dongle-saga, and above all, removing the giant touchpad, and just making an apple computer that is PROfessional again. Want to incorporate Emojies into a computer? Go make a fucking iMoji Pro. Professionals don't need that shit.
Everything you said is fully true except issue of the trackpad. First time is It is very convenient for me to work with photos on touchpad. Its size makes it more precise.
I bought the Mac Book Pro 2017 15 inch with touch bar and it works perfectly, I don't lose my work, 5-hour battery when using final cut pro or editing 4k video, 10-hour battery when watching youtube or listening to music or watching Netflix videos. I have the same MacBook Pro and it dosent crashes or have any problem with me.
i'm using a macbook pro 15 touch bar and i'm a developer who is working on Visual studio and Unity all the time. I found this machine a very good machine for Windows 10. Never encounter any problem as such Brandon's video. things run very smooth and fast. never crash. Battery life is 6 hours on Windows 10, 10 hours on mac osx. Not to mention that Microsoft surface book 2 15" is more expensive and slower than my macbook pro 15" touch bar
I have exactly the same configuration he does on my MBP, and I have the SAME EXACT PROBLEMS; apps freeze, very frequent beach-balling, and batter life is unbelievably bad. I literally can not watch two movies on a flight. One movie will drain my battery. (one two-hour movie.) I'm honestly VERY let down by this, and am thinking I need to cut my losses and sell my MacBook Pro now before the new models come out. The sad thing is, I bought a thousand dollar BENQ 32" 4K monitor to use along with my MBP (I'm a photographer - need the size for editing) and the integration is really not very good, despite what some reviewers have said. All in all, I'm just very very unhappy. The freeze ups are the worst. (and yes, I HAVE lost projects I was working on to these freeze ups, despite saving them.).
You've had some rare bad luck then. Why have you waited so long to solve your problems? The 2017 version came out months ago. Do you have the 2016 version? I have a 2017 version and haven't experienced any of these issues. I have multiple friends that have the 2016 version and they stopped getting any of these issues after the first update released post-launch in 2016. Suspicious.
Can. Not. Believe. I. Haven't. Seen. Your. Videos. PERIOD. (Bit over the top but trying to stress a point) Fantastic quality and fantastic content. Fastest subscribe click in a while.
Exactly, I would say professional review video, but unfortunately not many of them have as good review as this. Wish you more subscribers and more videos like this... :) Good luck
To summarize his video: 1. Pro - Great design 2. Pro - Touch ID 3. Con - Frequent crashes 4. Con - Lousy battery life 5. Con - Ports are a mess 6. Con - Touch bar lacks support 7. Con - Insanely expensive
Frequent crashes? It's not your windows laptop we are talking about. I own a MacBook Pro and in owning it for 2 years and it has crashed once. Greatest pro in no windows and macOS
Don't ever mention that a finger print scanner is the same as TouchID lol, the fanboys will get all angry. In all seriousness, Apple hasn't innovated jack since 2010 and has completely lost it's touch. They are the ones playing catch-up right now...
I thoght the start of the video was made by Apple. Dudeeee, your video shooting skills are insane, for real man, you're awesome, keep up the good work, it's really pleasant to watch your videos
Hm.. That's weird. Seems like only the 15'' macbook pro users have problems with their computers. For example, there's a german tech youtuber who's touch bar doesn't show up anymore.
I just hope that apple fixes that. I'm looking forward to upgrade from my macbook air 13' to the macbook pro 2k16 13'.. I don't really know which configuration I should use for this laptop.
Agreed. Well, if it helps, I used the baseline (Macbook Pro 13" 2013) for all of my edits and heavy design work before I got this computer... Only in the last three months did it start to give me some issues. Not sure if that helps... haha
I suppose I could get the baseline macbook pro 2k16 with the touch bar. I tested the touch bar in the store and it was pretty cool actually. Except of the huge price gap.
It's funny because as an English major that does a lot of writing who's used every version of word and Pages I can tell you Pages is substantially better than word in pretty much every way. Apple does a lot of dumb things especially with hardware choices they make but Pages is perfectly fine.
Honestly, you just have no idea what the coding is. Complicated, high-end software will consist of a good quality code and years of experience (company). It will not crush at most of the time.
From what I heard, 2016 MBP issues have been fixed in the next year's version... I have a 2017 version for that reason and I think that it turned out much better. I don't have nearly as many issues as I've had with Windows in the past and absolutely love this machine. There have been a few minor crash exceptions, but not nearly as bad as what is described in this vid.
Fantastic video mate. I'm in such a confused state atm - bought the xps 13 and sent it back after facing some irritating issues (sleep issues, wifi issues, questionable build quality in places), and figured my next choice would be a macbook pro. But I'm finding it very difficult to justify the cost. I'd never go for base model as I'd feel tied down with only 2 ports. Going up to the next tier kills me in terms of what I'd actually be gaining.
+Dillan Patel I feel your pain, man. Honestly, I'd just wait it out until after CES... This is prime time for manufactures, so I would just stick it out and do some research.
Not sure if you're still in the market, but I went through a similar experience. I bought an XPS 13 because I felt it was good value, but still high end. It had tons of issues. I got a Macbook Pro 2017. It has less storage and a lower-end CPU. I use mine for software development, and basic tasks. For my needs it's been worth the higher cost. I know I can keep it longer than most Windows laptops too.
I had the same issue as you, I bought an XPS 15 9550 (biggest mistake) moving out from a MacBook Pro 15 2013 which I sold because I wanted to go back to Windows. The problem is that after testing several Windows laptops, I now want to go back to Mac and I am planning to buy the 2017 15" model. The justification of the price is on the build quality. Period. There is no Windows computer which can compete side by side against a Mac in terms of build quality. Maybe the new Windows Surface Book would be better but some months at least until they announce it again. I am all in into Mac again...at least for now ;)
Fernando Scheps Serra the 15" MacBook Pro 2017 is a great computer. The Surface Book doesn't even come close with its Dual Core and weak graphic cards.
If you would compare the surface book to the macbook pro, the macbook pro is better. The price is practically the same, while you get slightly better specs and build quality with the macbook. Both high-end machines, that i am sure would do the job equally good though
You know, this is the best Mac review I ve seen so far. Fast and good on point. Key important features have been discussed. Great. Thank you so much. Thumb up
Very nicely formulated video with clear reasons as to why you feel the way you do without mindless Apple bashing, which is pretty common here in the RUclips tech community...
What's wrong with bashing? Most of the Videos you say are "bashing" have the same arguments he does in this Video. Just because other people don't sugarcoat it does not mean they are wrong or "only haters". We don't have to be nice to billion dollar companies to which you are only a Number.
Wrong! Other "reviews" find faults for finding faults sake. If you actually gave it a chance and used the Macbook for any period of time, you'd know that USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 is an advantage NOT a disadvantage. You'd know that the touchbar, while not being revolutionary, is nice to have. You'd know that the battery life is actually good. 5-6 hours of real world usage is great, more if all you do is web browsing...
He could have been more clear lol. I didn’t believe the bit about losing a project after saving. And he made no attempt to return his defective MacBook. He instead chose to do a review on a defective product acting as if he doesn’t know that it’s defective. So clearly either he’s a dumb block of bricks or he’s purposely shading Apple
Amazing job man! Honestly this is insane! Maybe in your next video though, lower the music a little. Kind of hard to hear! But everything else is spot on!
Just switched from a high-end Windows laptop to a 15” MacBook Pro. With Parallels, it also runs windows just fine. I’m a big fan of the touch-bar. It was 2x the price of the windows box but I still think it was worth it.
I upgraded to the 15 inch Touch Bar, 2.9GHz w 512GB storage from a late 2011, 13 inch. Needless to say... what an upgrade! Love the keyboard (oddly)/retina display and the slate grey is gorgeous and the envy of all my buddies! 6 months in, I'm gassed. After hearing how the 2018 model might shape up I am excited but can't see myself upgrading for another 6 years. These MacBook pros are getting rather spenny
Tiffany Onwudinanti Is true,he certainly has that classy voice, very easy to understand and he gets right to the point. He could replace Apple's Jony Ive one day.....
I have been an Mac user since late 2011. I do not think I have spent 5 minutes of down time due to a virus or malware in what will be 7 years in November. There are still a few things that Apple is very good at.
I've now had the MacBook Pro 13" for a few weeks or a whole month and it hasn't really had any of these issues, that is except for kinda bad battery life. Most people who have had these issues have bought the 15". So i'm glad i chose the 13" MacBook pro instead of the more expensive 15" While the Touch Bar isn't mind blowing, it does help me with some small things like the keyboard backlight and the volume and even Spotify when the Spotify app doesn't act weird. I really love this review and it's a rare blend of this eye candy with a hella lot of info. Thanks Brandon!
I'm thinking of getting this MacBook for my birthday and I'm gonna be using it a lot with school and I was wondering if this is a good option or not? 😊
Jason Gr The touch bar model has Touch ID, faster processor, and 2 extra thunderbolt 3 ports. Battery life is also about the same. Well worth the extra $300
I have this laptop and honestly there were a lot of things that put me off at first like obviously minimal ports, I found the touch bar didn't hold any value unless I was working on documents and needed shortcuts. Although after a year of use, its grown on me. The battery is extraordinary I can easily get 2 days use, and to charge to a full battery only takes about 2 / 3 hours. On top of that the visuals are beautiful, the 15inch is light and practical for travel, I find doing assignments or editing a breeze each program is so smooth and multitasking isn't a problem at all. It has never crashed or caused any problems being very reliable to me. So at first I wasn't very impressed but however, has grown on me nonetheless and I'm happy with my purchase.
Dilsher Randhawa I'm more talking about their MacBook line. Sure, their products are doing really well, and I can tell that in the future, they will refine the MacBook to an excellent product. However, the problems with it distract the user from its great features.
I have to admit. as much as I love to rant about apple, you made a good point there. Even I am attracted to their products and I've seriously considered buying some of them.
Just got a 2017 MacBook Pro with Touch ID and bar. Well it’s actually a gift to me by a friend. It has frozen once already and I had to do the long press and all was well again. So far I’m happy with it despite that.
I’ve seen the exact same annoying and extremely worrisome screen artifacts and flickering and errors and rebooting - on two brand new MacBook pros. I’ve returned two because they both were doing this. Also was forced to upgrade to High Sierra, and all my devices and graphics tablet became totally incompatible. Couldn’t even plug in a Flash drive on High Sierra. Fucking unbelievable whatever they have done. It’s baffling. Apple is so arrogant these days, they have lost me. Lifetime customer.
Totally unacceptable for a machine in this price range. I wanted to switch to a Macbook because I've been told it is of exceptional quality, software is reliable and the battery life is excellent. Seems to me these new Macbooks have none of these qualities. The build quality is still excellent, but essentially this is a low spec machine in a nice frame, when you compare it to competitors.
I would say OS X reliability dropped multiple times bellow Windows when they shortened release cycle to just every year. I used late 2014 pro 13 inch since its release with Mavericks and each release caused more reliability issues. I sold my macbook few months ago and never look back.
I was looking at getting a Macbook Pro for my video editing work. I think Apple is great, but I have officially been converted to PC. I purchased the late 2017 model Razer Blade. I love it. So powerful, so sleek, so minimal, so beautiful. Nothing I would change about that laptop.
I heard Apple isn't the first computer to come out with a touchbar. I'm so conflicted. I've never had anything from Apple and I'm looking into a Macbook Pro for graphic design because all my designer family members rave about it, but as a student, I'm not sure if it is worth.... the investment.
I think you would be better off either buying an older macbook pro to save money or maybe a Surface Pro as they are really good for anything graphical, that one also has touch and a pen so you don't need a Wacom :)
Once you try Apple you won't go back, trust me (I am not an Apple fanboy, I 've just been using the Mac at work for a year now, after 20 years of using Windows machines). NO COMPARISON, you won't regret it.
I have used all Windows since 3.11. I was a very early adopter of Windows 8 and Windows 10. I have used Windows 8 & 10 on an i5 machine with SSD and the thing is slow, even fresh after formatting. What annoys me the most is the lags in everyday small tasks which simply shouldn't be there.
You can turn off the things from launching from start up.

I'm sorry but not even with a Hackintosh i experienced that kind of problems (Apps being randomly closed, red bars etc...) I think you got a defective product. One friend got a MacBook Pro 2015 and it randomly quit apps, got stuck on several tasks, and sometimes went into a gray screen of death. I turned out to be defective, they replaced his mac and now he is very happy with how everything works smooth. My friends also do have macbooks and they NEVER experience that kind of problems. Come on, not even windows freezes Microsoft Word on these days. Specially with that powerful hardware. You should return your mac and do this review again after two months at least.
Kevin Rodríguez Having a hackintosh is probably why you never experienced those problems. Apple's hardware is ridiculously underpowered. I wish they would just sell the OS like Linux
6 лет назад+2
My desktop is a hackintosh z97 based pc, but my laptop is a Macbook pro 2015, everything is just different from this video.
Kevin Rodríguez If you already payed about 1500 $ for a laptop you shouldnt have to go back to them six months later because it's defective. Such a thing just shouldn't happen at this very high cost.
Sold it after a year :( the newer versions of final cut pro work extremely slow and lag behind.could of bought an external gpu but why do that when it cost me more than 2000 bucks. I ended up buying a lenovo yoga 920 and with the difference in price i added an external gpu case and took a gpu i had lying around to now play games as well as edit videos with great speed on premiere pro
I would do premiere pro but I don’t like the idea of a subscription, I use Sony Vegas now and probably will stick with that unless Adobe allows me to just outright buy Premiere Pro.
+Ronit Singh Hey man. Maybe somewhere down the road. Kinda crazy busy ATM with non-youtube stuff, but hopefully once things clear up we could do something... If you wanted to email me some ideas, I'm more than open...
I got this computer for a year now and its bullshit. its one of the best investment i did for my study (also using photoshop indesign autocad etc.) even when its complete full of things its fast af.
I just got the iPad Pro 12.9 with a space gray keyboard case with backlit lighting , which was about $62 on amazon !! I’m so happy with them both ! Looks just about like an iMac laptop.
"USB C is the future" apple says And I say, not caring a dongle around just to connect a simple flash drive, or import pictures from an SD card, sounds more futuristic.
Unless you need to use a particular software that is available only on mac, I will say don't bother spending the extra 400USD to buy one. coming from someone who uses both platforms: whatever a mac does, a windows computer can do, and vice versa.
This is my dilemma. While im not into serious film making, I do own 2 DSLRs, 6 lenses, an old canon S95 and an Olympus TG (for water stuff) im planning to go down the videography road...zhiyun crane M, goPro, G7xII, dji spark...just for travel videos (personal)...all these has to go into a post production software and my researching has lead me to FCPX, which is just available in Apple. I have far resisted buying the apple laptops because Im very familar using windows laptops & also know the power of Windows laptops and as they say more bang for your bucks. I do own an ipadmini1 ( the only apple device i ever bought) and it hasnt had any hiccup x 4 years. But Im trying not to buy apple laptop if only there is an equivalent software for the FCPX in the windows world, NOT premier pro which costs a lot, considering i will just making personal travel videos. huhu
Hey! you can get vegas pro or davinci resolve. They are as good as FCPX. vegas is more expensive by 100USD but I heard davinci is free. I haven't used davinci but I can vouch for vegas. even with the extra 100USD it's still cheaper than buying a mac. Now that said one aspect in which FCPX destroys every other editor is with rendering time. FCPX is super fast at exporting, however, whichever software you choose will get the job done. PS: windows supports a wider viriety of file formats than mac. Especially mts files. do not bring those anywhere near final cut. you MUST convert them first before importing. I hope this is helpful. Peace!
i am using MacBook Pro with Windows 10 without Bootcamp ( direct install and manually download the bootcamp driver 6.0 ) and My MacBook Pro runs like a charms !
I own a 2016 and 2017 15". Both have keyboard issues that suck but they aren't related to sticking. The way the display sits on the keys when closed causes it to make contact. This means the oil from your fingers is transferred to the display. I've had 2 displays replaced because the freaking key caps etched themselves into the anti reflective coating
Alright i too have the 2016 Mac book Pro with touch ID and Touch Bar. Like you i also experienced unexpected crashes and blank screens and almost all the issues you have said. So i have mine to apple and they replaced the logic board for me, offcource free of cost. I get a good 8 hours of battery when im watching RUclips and working on final cut pro. Just give it back to apple simple as that.
*chill music playing* "The last update was meant to fix the red bar issue" *music stops* "That update didn't fix sh*t* Ha😂 Thus edit is amazing, was this made in Final Cut Pro?
Excuse me. I have the same MacBook Pro as you do. I'm not really crazy about the keyboard, but other than that it's a fantastic computer and I'd never trade it in for another brand. Maybe you were unlucky; go talk to Apple about it.
I subscribed to this channel after watching this video cos this guy is so honest and genuine. Loved every bit of this video. The pic quality is surreal. Am a fan from now. ❤
OHH MA GRRD!!! BUT I THOUGHT MACBOOKS WERE PERFECT ISNT THAT WHY U PAY AN ARM AND A LEG FOR IT??!! aTLEAST WHEN MY PC FREEZEZ I CAN SAY ITS CAUSE ITS A Acer WHAT UR EXCUSE??!
2017 mbp w/ touch bar, still works. Expensive, but worth it. AutoCad, sketchup pro, sketchup make, photoshop - works fine, never lost a file. The mistake would be investing in another Windows (lost too many autocad files) No thanks
Nicholas Burns this guy talks about 3 hour max battery where I can clearly use mine for as long as 8 hours minimum while listening to music, and running power hungry software... either he got a seriously busted computer or talking shit gets lots of views... I also never had any problem and never was comfortable with any other laptop
I agree. I've used the new MacBook Pro for work (without the Touch Bar) and the battery life was great. I also never had any issues with crashes or anything like that. No problems whatsoever. It makes me question this review. I do however, hate the stupid new usb ports and the lack of amount of them if you don't pay for additional ones.
Daniel Alarcon MacBooks were something unique in early to mid 2000s but now many manufacturers like razor blade and lenovo are starting to give similar laptops for way less price and with a great build quality
THANK YOU! Finally somebody says it. No matter how “bad” it might be, it can’t be worse than paying hard earned money for a product (windows/pc) that is doomed from the absolute beginning. Love my MBP. I did not get the touchbar, not sold on that yet but it’s a neat idea. Not worth all the extra money to me.
For me im happy with my windows pc i mean i dont get the hate by i can do many more things on my pc than i could on a 1000$ macbook no sorry im not using a overpriced laptop for stuff i can easily do with a 300$ windows pc mac was so windows neither the pc were doomed from the beginning i mean windows has 88% market share sooo i think people are buying it? And its not even in danger at all and mac sitting at 9% nope, not buying it
That’s such a nice and unbiased review. I just got the MacBook Pro as well and I feel the same as you, for instance, I just got it a week ago and now I’m going crazy just for the facts of which adapter should I get , it beats the purpose of the concept for simplifying usbc-c as universal adapter. Even for the Apple ecosystem.
North americans, open ur eyes! Apple is just ripping off ur money by its branding! U can buy a same nice looking computer/phone with windows & android. I used to think Apple is king of all techs but not anymore. The pricing became ridiculous, sure products look nice and chic but its not worth that much. The profit margins are really high (iphone x can cost only 200-300 to build but they r selling 999 USD, thats 300% profit margin, exclduing currency rates, tariffs, and duty) Android phones such as oppo might hv slower processor but it costs at least half of tht price at around 500 USD. (Note, 500 USD will only get u an old model of iphone 6s or iphone 7) Good news is u can even afford to change a phone every two years (if ur signing a contract). Laptops such as lenovo or high end acer works the same as a mac. U might argue Mac OS is better but for word processing purposes, i believe its the same. So think twice b4 u purchase another apple product.
Joshua Hoy, Being successful doesnt always mean its the best phone! with the same (or worse) old design & features Its shittier than Bullshit! (FYI: I am a big Apple fan!)
If using pages is not so necessary and you're facing this issue constantly, you can either reinstall the OS or try using atom for typing. It saves your work in a temporary file which stays even if you didn't save the document and the laptop freezes and you need to reboot. Although, I'm not quite sure how a saved document got erased. I have never heard it happening, in fact, I don't even think that's possible at all.
I was never a big fan of apple products, however always interested what's on the other side. Great and honest review. I'm so happy that I've got an FHD XPS 15 9560 7700hq, 32gb memory, 256gb nvme, 1tb ssd with no need for adaptors whatsoever. Yes it had some initial flaws, but pretty much all fixed with driver/firmware updates. Pretty sure if final cut pro would be available on windows, many people will jump ships.
Dammit, why didn't I see this video before getting it? THE STRUGGLES EXPLAINED HERE ARE REAL! Also tbh the touchbar is so useless and the keys + batterie life are crap. Nonetheless it's a pretty good computer but not recomended.
I have none of these issues. Mine is only 90 days old now but I use the heck out of it. If I am surfing the web, email, document work I get a good 10 hours.
I’ve never, and i say NEVER, had a problem with a macBook Pro. Never a lag, even on heavier games and programs. Never a bug in the operating systems and never a crash of it. Applications is a thing, the machine another one. If you bought a corrupted machine it doesn’t mean the type of machine itself is a shit. The only reason why people don’t like Apple products is because they are different, nothing similar on the market, and they can only see the negative parts, without looking at the innovative, different, wonderfull things they have. And the fact that Apple brought innovation in the computer world is about history, not opinions.
He could have been more clear. I didn’t believe the bit about losing a project after saving. And he made no attempt to return his defective MacBook which I can tell you right now, Apple would have replaced or refunded on the spot. He instead chose to do a review on a defective product acting as if he doesn’t know that it’s defective. So clearly either he’s a dumb block of bricks or he’s purposely shading Apple
almost a year after you posted the video..., but good job man. like one of the better reviews made, instead of hyping the product or completely bashing it, you made a good objective review
not everyone wants something like bluetooth headphones, i prefer my Sennheiser HD25, and loved to use them with mac and iphone too. Same with usb, why they on 13" version have only 2usb (minus one for powercord)? I need more direct usb not only one for usb hub, my soundcard have to has its own. shall i pay 400 usd more for touchbar version? Use dongle for audio stream, and usb hub for rest? So sad from apple :((
I have them and love them, but sometimes malfunctions happen and they disconnect or you forget to charge them and they're rendered useless. I like not having to worry about charging or connecting devices when I use earbud/headphones
Still rockin' my 2008 15" MBP with Snow Leopard. Works great and has removable battery and HD. Apple sent me a new battery for free as the original died after only 300 charge cycles. I learned a long time ago not to run OS upgrades. Just leave it be if you can. I do open it up every 3 yrs to blow out the dust.
15.000 Apple haters upvoted. Which makes me think who was this video made for. Don't get me wrong - I hate the new bar, and I fully agree on dongles. But everything else was utter bullshit as you were testing an obviously faulty unit, something you can expect from an Apple hater. Red stripes? Really? And you thought thats just normal on MacOS? Or you just wanted to bash?
Right man ?? Like i bought a 2017 model And i was amazed of the design and built quality and the fast OS . I think he just want yo be cool so he will go against the flow and start to making things up !!!
Just google before you start to spread hate 9to5mac.com/2016/12/07/apple-believes-2016-macbook-pro-graphics-issues-are-addressed-in-macos-10-12-2-update-according-to-craig-federighi-email/
I liked the video, and I don't hate Apple. bandrej x, you should really work on your prejudices. The fact is that Apple has problems with quality control. I never had any Apple product which had no technical problems (hardware, software - don't forgot, Apple is a system seller, not a software company, not a hardware company!) and I buy them since 1997. I can live with it, because the world is not perfect. BUT this has to be spoken out clearly because otherwise Apple thinks they can sell us every crap (and they sold really, really a lot of crap ...).
This is the crispiest video I have ever seen. The beautiful cinematography with the voiceover is amazing.
Good job.
Thanks man!
I somehow really understand that terminology
Enzo Dolan I read your comment before watching the video and I was thinking "tf is he talking about? Crisp video?" 10 seconds into the video and I realize what you mean.

You didn't go over the top on music, you didn't have an obnoxious intro, your logo is minimalistic and clean, and your on camera presence is great. Subbed dude, keep it up!
I'm still using my Macbook Pro 2011 in 2019. It's been such a pleasure to work on over this decade.
You got lucky, my GPU blew once and Apple replaced the motherboard for free. The replacement GPU blew in less than a year but then Apple would no longer supply a replacement mother board, even if I paid. Apart from that, the machine was excellent.
@@enwin1912 Is that comment for J_A or me please?
@@enwin1912 Thank-you for clarifying that. Why do you feel that I was smart to hold on to my old MacBook Pro please?
@@enwin1912 Thanks very much for the very helpful reply. My big problem though is that the GPU is not working and I need a new motherboard, the hard drive has been checked and is okay. How could I upgrade my machine? I live in Mauritius and not sure if the expertise is here to do that sadly.
How is it running? Coz mine has seriously slowed down.. Like i need to wait a minute or 2 just to load any Microsoft Office app
Not even a minute in and the cinematography quality is top notch. Subbed!
+Should I Get It thanks dude!
Get a Dell XPS15. Much faster, much cheaper, almost as good looking.
Should I Get It I share your opinion and your enthusiasm for this video and thus, I shall also subscribe yo this channel. Be well, and be awesome.
Jebediah G do you think it's a good idea to buy one or should I buy a MacBook Air upgraded?
Diana Belmont don't get an upgraded air, just go for the pro
It really depends on your budget but the pro is going to last a lot longer than the air, and all round seems to be much better quality. If you're set on apple then go for the pro.
Yea my brother has the pro and he finds it great and a lot more convenient. He says he can't go back to Windows after using the pro.
How well does the touchbar work for Premiere?
"Whoever was in charge of the ports department, are you on crack?!" LOL
Who else want Apple to just stop making it thinner & lighter (Pro is light and thin enough as it is) and instead bring back the USB + memory card slot, so we can skip this whole dongle-saga, and above all, removing the giant touchpad, and just making an apple computer that is PROfessional again. Want to incorporate Emojies into a computer? Go make a fucking iMoji Pro. Professionals don't need that shit.
Spot on. This post needs more thumbs up.
Spot on. This comment needs more thumbs up.
Agreed
Everything you said is fully true except issue of the trackpad. First time is It is very convenient for me to work with photos on touchpad. Its size makes it more precise.
Nope... i want it thinner and lighter...
Pheonix Gaming hi, would you say that the Touchbar is usefull ?
Thanks for the recent reply! :)
They probably fixed that stuff in the one you have the 2017 model
Same story, works perfectly well, never had any red bars or lost my work.
Pheonix Gaming congratulations... mine is worse
i'm using a macbook pro 15 touch bar and i'm a developer who is working on Visual studio and Unity all the time.
It's been a while since the last time I was amazed by the edition and cinematography capabilities of a youtuber, defenetly subscribed!
sebas r *definitely subscribe to a dictionary as well.. lol
Always get excited when I see another review from you :)
Haha. Glad to hear that! Thanks for the support.
Suspicious.
thank god i returned mine im just staying with my imac 27" 5k

Hello Gabe, same I just subscribed, he deserves way more subs
Exactly, I would say professional review video, but unfortunately not many of them have as good review as this. Wish you more subscribers and more videos like this... :) Good luck
Gabe the quality is like movie potential, and very good quality like holy fuck not bad
Gabe literally same
To summarize his video:
1. Pro - Great design
2. Pro - Touch ID
3. Con - Frequent crashes
4. Con - Lousy battery life
5. Con - Ports are a mess
6. Con - Touch bar lacks support
7. Con - Insanely expensive
Awesome screen too, and the keyboard is really great as well once you get used to it
tobi6277 don't forget the trackpad
I should counter - the battery life and crashes aren't what the general consensus is on this laptop.
Frequent crashes? It's not your windows laptop we are talking about. I own a MacBook Pro and in owning it for 2 years and it has crashed once. Greatest pro in no windows and macOS
Daryl Ang I think they should name it the "MacBook Con"
My Fujitsu Laptop from 10 years ago had biometric finger print reader built in - so the MacBook is not the first with that tech.
He said first with TouchID, not with a typical fingerprint scanner
Joshua Kreider Same difference.
Jeremy walker no, they’re not the same lmao
Don't ever mention that a finger print scanner is the same as TouchID lol, the fanboys will get all angry.
In all seriousness, Apple hasn't innovated jack since 2010 and has completely lost it's touch. They are the ones playing catch-up right now...
Yes, but the actual Touch ID application, the Apple service, has not been previously included in any laptop, apple or otherwise.
Been hearing this too... My friend who has a 13" TB loves his, but does have some issues with that red lines glitch. Weird.
+Armand Stoica Yea, I mean touchbar, again, has some cool aspects, I just hope that version 2.0 makes it more useful...
My 13 inch is great. Powerful enough for light gaming, editing and just general work. And good battery life too. 9hrs? (2017)
You edit video on your 13 inch? Specs?
I'm interested in one
RCATHEGREAT i7 processor and 16gb of ram (2018 model can hold these specs for 13’)
Ive the exact same, the battery life is no where near 9hrs. Especially if you're doing 'light gaming'.
If a computer can't handle a lesser version of word, it is a failure for consumers.
To be fair, that's mostly MS's fault. Office is dogshit on MacOS
Spaghetti Papa .. he was clearly talking about Pages
It's funny because as an English major that does a lot of writing who's used every version of word and Pages I can tell you Pages is substantially better than word in pretty much every way. Apple does a lot of dumb things especially with hardware choices they make but Pages is perfectly fine.
Dalton Smith English major is basically unemployed xdd
Synapse 😂
Who the heck uses Pages.
Jeffrey Glick does it matter if no one uses pages, if it froze on such a simple program and to be high end is the bigger issue
What can I use then?
Honestly, you just have no idea what the coding is. Complicated, high-end software will consist of a good quality code and years of experience (company). It will not crush at most of the time.
Jeffrey Glick i'll drink to that
You'd be surprised.
That cinematography deserves an Oscar! 😍
So glad I stumbled upon your channel. ✌️
+Rohit Awate haha. Well, thanks man!
Let Apple be Apple
You captured most of my thoughts exactly.
Apple makes their money from phones now. The last great macbook was the 2011 - which is exactly what I'm using now - still going strong in 2018.
Damnnnn That Quality Subbed Bro :D
TechTrek hey you here???.😎 subbed as well
I subbed too ;)

Haha, welcome.
There RUclips I watched it!!!!
Sam Girgis Haha I got it. It was in ur recommended for ages right?
Same lmao
Lol
Sam Girgis 😂
Hahahaha same
Sticking with my old one for now. So many people have the same issues
Apple should've hired you to make their release video at their keynote
Haha
Tiffany Onwudinanti Is true,he certainly has that classy voice, very easy to understand and he gets right to the point. He could replace Apple's Jony Ive one day.....
I have been an Mac user since late 2011. I do not think I have spent 5 minutes of down time due to a virus or malware in what will be 7 years in November. There are still a few things that Apple is very good at.
I've now had the MacBook Pro 13" for a few weeks or a whole month and it hasn't really had any of these issues, that is except for kinda bad battery life. Most people who have had these issues have bought the 15". So i'm glad i chose the 13" MacBook pro instead of the more expensive 15"
While the Touch Bar isn't mind blowing, it does help me with some small things like the keyboard backlight and the volume and even Spotify when the Spotify app doesn't act weird. I really love this review and it's a rare blend of this eye candy with a hella lot of info. Thanks Brandon!
I'm thinking of getting this MacBook for my birthday and I'm gonna be using it a lot with school and I was wondering if this is a good option or not? 😊
Emily Forrester Yes
buy the one without touchbar. better battery, less lags, cheaper
Jason Gr The touch bar model has Touch ID, faster processor, and 2 extra thunderbolt 3 ports. Battery life is also about the same. Well worth the extra $300
Ashton Cofer ok cool thanks
Jason Gr oh ok thanks for the info
>the keyboard is great
This video did not age well.
It did tho
@@estefanobarriga4767 The keyboard was so bad Apple replaced it in the latest model. Failure rates through the roof.
Apple needs to get their crap together
Dilsher Randhawa I'm more talking about their MacBook line. Sure, their products are doing really well, and I can tell that in the future, they will refine the MacBook to an excellent product. However, the problems with it distract the user from its great features.
What the beep
they'll fall if they keep up with this. more and more people are becoming aware of their deceit.
that's the part that marvels me. I REALLY don't get it. it's like many people don't even know that there exist other brands.
I have to admit. as much as I love to rant about apple, you made a good point there. Even I am attracted to their products and I've seriously considered buying some of them.
I DIED WHEN HE SAID THAT THE UPDATE DIDNT DO SHIT. I ALREADY FUCKING SUBSCRIBED 😂😂😂😂
PapíDimmi or when he was talking about the ports- are you on crack??😂😂😂
KAAMIE You seem to be impressed easily.
Whith High Sierra my trackpad stopped working for a while and after that I couldnt customize the drag and tap preferences. I hate it
Totally unacceptable for a machine in this price range.
“The keyboard is really great”... that didn’t age well
I was looking at getting a Macbook Pro for my video editing work.
Antonis Korakakis If you only do work on it like word and excel then sure. Also depends on what version of windows you used before.
My desktop is a hackintosh z97 based pc, but my laptop is a Macbook pro 2015, everything is just different from this video.
Kevin Rodríguez
If you already payed about 1500 $ for a laptop you shouldnt have to go back to them six months later because it's defective. Such a thing just shouldn't happen at this very high cost.
This is true , even for 2021 , this problems are still a thing
Sold it after a year :( the newer versions of final cut pro work extremely slow and lag behind.could of bought an external gpu but why do that when it cost me more than 2000 bucks. I ended up buying a lenovo yoga 920 and with the difference in price i added an external gpu case and took a gpu i had lying around to now play games as well as edit videos with great speed on premiere pro
I would do premiere pro but I don’t like the idea of a subscription, I use Sony Vegas now and probably will stick with that unless Adobe allows me to just outright buy Premiere Pro.
congrats
If you get an SSD it should run 100% faster...
Eddie P h
So can I buy the MacBook Pro with touch bar or should I have to go with some other one? If some other, please suggest me.
This video is Mind Blowing! Subscribed! :)
+Ronit Singh thanks dude!
Brandon Havard Wanted to ask if you would like to do a collaboration video with me?
+Ronit Singh Hey man. Maybe somewhere down the road. Kinda crazy busy ATM with non-youtube stuff, but hopefully once things clear up we could do something... If you wanted to email me some ideas, I'm more than open...

LOL. good one
moment of truth
That was why I subscribed to this channel because he said what everyone thought!!!
good punch line lmao
Was looking for this comment 😂
I got this computer for a year now and its bullshit. its one of the best investment i did for my study (also using photoshop indesign autocad etc.) even when its complete full of things its fast af.
I just got the iPad Pro 12.9 with a space gray keyboard case with backlit lighting , which was about $62 on amazon !! I’m so happy with them both ! Looks just about like an iMac laptop.
"USB C is the future" apple says
And I say, not caring a dongle around just to connect a simple flash drive, or import pictures from an SD card, sounds more futuristic.
Well now I feel like absolute shit for buying it.
Fiona.B well why do you buy such a thing in the first place?
Peace!
@Husayn Tanyi thank you so much for your input sir.
i am using MacBook Pro with Windows 10 without Bootcamp ( direct install and manually download the bootcamp driver 6.0 ) and My MacBook Pro runs like a charms !
Great review dude, mkbhd level, subscribed
He works for mkbhd😅
I've switched to peecee for music production, the value in the macbooks isn't there anymore for me.
What pc laptop for music prod are you using?
Mine crashed after 3 months. Lost everything on the computer://
Thomas Kragerud mine did the same thing.
This is the type of problems that iSheep want to bury and still chanting "it just works". NO! It doesn't
...so what’s the better alternative ?
*chill music playing*
"The last update was meant to fix the red bar issue"
*music stops*
"That update didn't fix sh*t*
Ha😂
Thus edit is amazing, was this made in Final Cut Pro?
But I use a MacBook from 2010 still works perfectly
OHH MA GRRD!!! BUT I THOUGHT MACBOOKS WERE PERFECT ISNT THAT WHY U PAY AN ARM AND A LEG FOR IT??!! aTLEAST WHEN MY PC FREEZEZ I CAN SAY ITS CAUSE ITS A Acer WHAT UR EXCUSE??!
I honestly watched this vid for 10 times because of his amazing editing
2017 mbp w/ touch bar, still works. Expensive, but worth it. AutoCad, sketchup pro, sketchup make, photoshop - works fine, never lost a file.
The mistake would be investing in another Windows (lost too many autocad files)
No thanks
Apple died with Steve. Sorry.
you died with Steve.
White Panda you died with HowYer Durrin
Nachaal Thaqap 🤣🤣🤣
I love your honesty here! Extremely honest and comical. Thank you!
You definitely deserve to be in the team Crispy!
I've never had a problem with any MacBook Pro.
I do feel like mac book pro is legit most professionals use it. I'm comfortable with having it. I'm thinking of buying it as well
good for you
So you didn’t save your work?? Lol no you didn’t because they have account recovery options you just don’t know what your doing
First video of yours i've ever seen, and holy shit this is the most polished video i've ever seen put out by an individual on RUclips. Amazing job.
I will never understand the logic of spending +2000$ on a MacBook that does what a 500$ laptop can do
Ed Garazaky buddy buy MacBook and a 500$ shit PC and then compare. U can't get any better than a macbook
i have a 300$ windows laptop and it feels just as good as a $3000 mac, yeah ill go with save thousands of $
Daniel Alarcon MacBooks were something unique in early to mid 2000s but now many manufacturers like razor blade and lenovo are starting to give similar laptops for way less price and with a great build quality
OK, run Xcode on this 500 bucks one for me.
Floyd ish You can with a VM you dumb fuck.
Question is: what is the alternative? Windows? Hmmm... nah...
Yea windows whats wrong with that Hmmm?
And its not even in danger at all and mac sitting at 9% nope, not buying it
Have you heard about linux distros? There will always be options.
Charles. try the 2012 macbook pro. upgrade the ram and hard drive and you have a sure fire winner. forget this new expensive junk Charles Rodrigues.
So think twice b4 u purchase another apple product.
apple died with steve jobs, evrything after him isn´t even a nicetry. ITS BULLSHIT
why?
Exactly!
Now u r overdoing it mate
The 6s is the most successful smartphone Apple have made and it came out after he died, lmao. What are you on about.
I can't decide what is more beautiful you or the macbook lol
Apple = Style over function
Gilfoyle Jones "I use the heck out of it" with surfing the web, writing e-mails and documents? xD
You used mac book and heavy games in the same sentence your point is now invalid
yo, by heavier games why the heck does fortnite run at 20 fps
and btw im typing this on a macbook so no, im not just hating on apple.
Right, i said Heavier Games even when it’s not totally true, i’m sorry... anyway thanks
im sorry too. Thanks
where'd u get that usb c to usb connector? link me
He could have been more clear. I didn’t believe the bit about losing a project after saving. And he made no attempt to return his defective MacBook which I can tell you right now, Apple would have replaced or refunded on the spot. He instead chose to do a review on a defective product acting as if he doesn’t know that it’s defective. So clearly either he’s a dumb block of bricks or he’s purposely shading Apple
this video convinced me to buy a Dell xps 15 :)
arale2k me too 😂😂
almost a year after you posted the video..., but good job man. like one of the better reviews made, instead of hyping the product or completely bashing it, you made a good objective review
Bluetooth. Bluetooth headphones.
Or AirPods like what I use
not everyone wants something like bluetooth headphones, i prefer my Sennheiser HD25, and loved to use them with mac and iphone too. Same with usb, why they on 13" version have only 2usb (minus one for powercord)? I need more direct usb not only one for usb hub, my soundcard have to has its own. shall i pay 400 usd more for touchbar version? Use dongle for audio stream, and usb hub for rest? So sad from apple :((
No....those need to be charged every night. Ain't nobody got time for that lol.
Those are only good for workouts
LuvCali28 my beats solo 3 have 40 hours of battery! 👍🏼
I have them and love them, but sometimes malfunctions happen and they disconnect or you forget to charge them and they're rendered useless. I like not having to worry about charging or connecting devices when I use earbud/headphones
Solution Don't buy a Mac in the first place
Yeah just buy the PC version where they copied all the stuff Apple did and stop watching videos catered for and only Apple users. Dipshit.
They should have.
you mean apple who stole their UI ideas from Xerox?
Linux is better than both of them. MacOS looks like a shittier version of gnome.
I’ve never watched a review that felt like it took DAYS to make... really appreciate and LOVE it!!
MacBook Pro 2015 i7 16gb 500gb ssd baby all the way!
...hehe dongles 😂😂😂
2015: the last model that made any sense lol
The last usable and justifiable macbook pro that was made. Keep it..
I have that too except it's 2017 w/ touchbar. Sketchup pro, sketchup make, autocad, Adobe works well on it
Instead of MacBookPro im using MacBook air,who els is too?!
coco bird here here😂
Same
coco bird airs are compete and utter pieces of shit. have fun with your glorified chromebookb
Or you just wanted to bash?
bandrej x Why is Apple shipping faulty units?
Right man ?? Like i bought a 2017 model
And i was amazed of the design and built quality and the fast OS .
Raafat Alshaghouri he showed red bars in the video lol
I prefer touchbar to touchscreen tbh.
thank you very much. You saved me a lot of headaches. :)) really appreciate it man
This is the most pretentious review I've ever watched.
