    I'm currently using this as a portable console. I have it hooked up to a monitor I have in my room, I connected it to a bluetooth speaker, and an Xbox one controller. I'm currently playing Resident Evil: Code Veronica X (a PS2 game) and it runs extremely well. I am extremely happy with my purchase.

    I bought one recently and I love it madly! it is spectacular, nothing to do with the RP1, another planet! the only thing that I just don't understand and that I don't accept is that the retroid no longer sells the conductive mebranes on the site as spare parts. I asked for explanations about this and they told me that maybe in the future they will make them available on the site. I do not accept that "maybe". that's fine but the company can't tell me that it won't sell the conductive membranes as spare parts.I am Italian and I spent 200 euros on amazon to buy it ,so as not to wait 2 months and I'm fine with it, but the company cannot tell me that it will no longer sell conductive membranes ,because if they are damaged the rp2 plus is unusable!

    It would be awesome to design a 3D print dock designed specifically for the RP2+, with a USB hub (with 4 ports?) on the bottom and built-in mini-HDMI to HDMI/DP, just for the convenience to have everything built-in.
    The RP3 outputs at 720p, I guess the RP2+ outputs at 720p, did you notice any lag in bluetooth mode?
    Really thinking about buying this instead of the RP3, the smaller form factor appeals more to me

    • @TechDweeb

      Yeah I think it's 720p here too. No I didn't notice any lag. Maybe a tiny bit, usual bluetooth stuff, but I could play SHMUP games fine which is my test to see if there is any problematic lag.

  • @salitz91

    TD, I'm coming back to this video a few months later, now that I have the RP3+. My daughters and I had a GREAT time yesterday, playing upscaled N64 Super Smash on the TV yesterday, using just some JoyCons we had from the switch. I am definitely going to grab some of those mini controllers to make setup easier - JoyCons are finicky on Bluetooth.
    I was curious - considering the USB C port accepts controllers like you showed, and with my 8BitDo as well, do you think it would accept a USB hub? We have some wired kids controllers, and a USB hub would make it easy to hook them up, plus eliminate Bluetooth latency! Wasn't sure if you had tried it. If I get around to it, I'll update!

    • @TechDweeb
      @TechDweeb  Год назад +1

      I do think it would accept a hub. I can't test it because I'm away from my place today but I don't see why a hub wouldn't work (depending on your controllers obviously, if they all have RGB and rumble motors there's a chance they'll draw too much power, but normal low powered controllers should be fine).

    What about correct aspect ratio? integer scaling?
    Those things are important. Can you achieve them on the external screen?

    • @TechDweeb
      @TechDweeb  2 года назад

      The resolution on the external display is 720x480 (so it is displayed the same as the 640x480 resoluion on the device, but with black bars). The signal coming from the RP2+ is not upscaled or anything, so the integer scaling will be identical to the handheld screen, with the caveat that it's going to be displayed at a scaled version of the signal coming from the RP2+ on the external display and will be subject to the stretching/interpolation settings on the external display.

      The RP2+ seems great, but the MM+ is great too. I think the biggest factor will be where you intend to use it. If you need something very portable and pocket friendly the MM+ will serve you better. But if you are mostly going to use it around the house the RP2+ will be more comfortable and let you play higher end stuff like n64, psp, saturn, and dreamcast.

    Hi all! I actually have a Retroid Pocket 3 coming soon due to great reviews, bigger screen, better (supposedly) buttons, 16:9 mode, Android 11, a supposedly easier/cleaner launcher/GUI.
    Couple questions for anyone who can help!:
    1. Would a Retroid 2+ MicroSD run immediately if inserted into a Pocket 3?
    2. This is what makes me want to cry: most of my roms I built into a RaspberryPi 4 .img files (I have a few cards this way). Is there a way to copy (hopefully without ruining the Rpi’s cards) roms from an .img? If I can’t, my Retroid 3 would be a paperweight! I can’t afford to rebuy roms I already own (Dreamcast and below; PS2/GCube/DS never caught me eye- I’m innit for Dreamcast and consider all else to be *bonuses*.
    Could anyone please advise me, or provide a link to instructions? They play great on the Pi400, so I *know* they’re “in there”. I just don’t know how to find/copy the games inside the image to add to a fresh 256GB-512GB disk that will work on the new RPocket3! I’m worried I made a bad decision. Any guidance or link to an “Idiot’s Guide” for this.
    3. AM I better off looking for a prebuilt Retroid 2+ chip preload online? Or would it not be compatible when put in a 3?
    4. Anybody willing to build a preloaded Retroid Pocket 3 MicroSD for me for a reasonable price with a little footage showing it running its best? I’d honestly rather pay $ for a prebuilt, guaranteed card with loads of Dc/*Saturn/*Genesis/SCD/32x/Master System/Game Gear and whatever Nintendo (through N64), MAME, Atomiswave, Naomi- whatever else will fit? Android is new to me, but I’m the only person I’ve seen asking! ANY help is appreciated!

    • @TechDweeb
      @TechDweeb  2 года назад

      1. Depends. If you formatted the card to expand the android storage, then no, it's just like any android device and can't be swapped around. But if you formatted it to be removable storage, then there's no reason you couldn't use it in the new device (I'll probably do exactly this), although you'll need to reinstall all your emulators and stuff, obviously.
      2. Potentially. I believe there are programs that can extract files from .img's. I know 7zip can do it but I'm not sure how well it can handle linux images. Worth a try though! smallbusiness.chron.com/extract-img-file-58033.html
      3. No need to find a RP2+ sd card, the sd card should mostly just be used for game storage.
      4. If you have a raspberry pi image with your roms on it, you should be able to get them off it easily enough, so try your best and I hope you don't need to pay anyone to do it for you! :P
      Good luck buddy.
