Branching, Precondition, and Field Calculations Using Model Builder in ArcGIS | Part 2

Hello everyone, and welcome back to our in-depth ArcGIS series! In this video, we pick up from where we left off, continuing our journey of building a robust town relocation tool using Model Builder in ArcGIS. Last time, we successfully copied the feature class, added and calculated the IS river field, and set its value for parcels intersecting with the river.
In this session, we'll introduce branching within Model Builder to enhance our model's functionality. We'll start by adding a new field to identify if parcels are on the correct side of the river. This process involves duplicating the add field and field calculation tools and branching off the initial copied features. By doing this, we create a new field, and set its default values.
Moving forward, we'll make the dissolved polygons a feature layer and use the town boundary to identify which side of the river is correct. This involves selecting the correct side polygon using the town boundary as the selecting feature.
Throughout the video, we meticulously validate our steps, add layers to the display for visual confirmation, and ensure our model accurately reflects the desired workflow. By the end, we’ll have a model that identifies the correct side of the river for each parcel, paving the way for further analysis.
