  • In this video, we guide you through creating a flood simulation for the Adyar River Basin using ArcGIS Pro 3.3. We demonstrate how to model water movement and accumulation within a defined area of interest by utilizing shallow water equations.     First, we define the flood simulation scenario, which is stored in a simulation layer listed in a new category in the Contents pane. Each scene can contain multiple simulation layers, but only one can be active at a time. We explain how to define the area of interest, set rainfall rates through time, adjust the analysis processing cell size, and configure ground infiltration rates. You'll learn how to add water source points and set water flow barriers and channels to reflect real-world conditions.
    As we run the flood simulation scenario, we generate an elevation surface raster at the specified cell size, including all visible elements like the ground surface, buildings, and dam walls. This raster is processed using the GPU, adding water to each cell based on rainfall and moving it over the surface using shallow water equations.
    We conclude the tutorial by exporting the flood layer, enabling you to share your results and incorporate them into further analysis or presentations.
