Allison's bullying clearly stems from being traumatized from the betrayal and gambling addiction. However, when she chose to stay with him and work on the relationship she should committed to forgiveness. This middle ground where they're together, but she gets to be spiteful and angry and he has to be subservient and apologetic is just toxic.
You really made me realize shit with this. I had cheated on my baby daddy one time when I was on drugs, because I was in withdrawal super bad and had no money. I explained it had nothing to do with him, I was happy with our relationship, I loved him so much, it was a one time mistake that I would never make again. He had every right to be upset and I had told him after we had broken up and I went to rehab. It started looking like we were gonna get back together and I didn’t want him to make that choice without having all the information on hand. He responded by going out and fucking my best friend while rehab. We still ended up back together and I thought ‘ok this is the end of it’. Nope. Verbally abused for it all the time, walking on eggshells, constantly apologizing. And then I found out he was sleeping with his best friends girlfriend. I realized then and there he was never going to let it go and would just keep punishing me for it so I left. After we broke up I found out he had cheated on me multiple times with his ex of ten years who had just broken up with him 6 months before we got back together because they worked together they could go sneak off. This was wayyyy before I ever even cheated on him. I learned he’s just a fucking asshole no matter what and I was way better off.
@alanmccarthy4004 well it's a good thing Gail actually noticed that and confronted Allison about it as well as confronting chris about him being a doormat

I worked in healthcare for 45 years, right alongside doctors of every specialty and their PAs. It's a very common, true saying that psych specialists go into the very field in which they seriously need help themselves. Found that to be true in every single psych doc except one. He was the most balanced, most normal person I'd ever met, and went into psych because he really wanted others to get to a state of normalcy. The one psychologist with whom I was friends for several years constantly emphasized that he had his Ph.D., that he was extremely intelligent...yet he was terrified of such tiny things as earwigs, any kind of crawling insects, actually, and he was socially and sexually dysfunctional. His specialty? Sexual dysfunction and aberrancy, as well as family counseling, when he himself refused to ever get into any kind of relationship beyond friendship. He never wanted marriage, nor children, ever, yet he worked with children as young as 12 years old in his private practice (one or both parents ALWAYS had to be present, even though he was not a deviant in any way whatsoever). He was one of the most bizarre people to ever be in my life, and when I finally moved back to my home city 232 miles from him, it was a huge relief to end that friendship (long, long before texting or cell phones came along, and the Internet was too new to be in homes. No email existed back then, either).
Current therapist; absolutely agree. I'm getting the sense that she's a perfectionist and turns everything inward on herself in a "not good enough" mentality. All therapists need to see a therapist, at the very least at some point if not actively and consistently!

One person can't hand over money control to the other and then complain about the outcome! It takes both people sitting down together and handling their finances. They might both be better off going their separate ways.

I can see them splitting, and sort of staying cordial. Maybe at a dinner years later, when things are much more stable for them both, to go "oh if we'd met now, things would work out so much better." And smiling wryly. He seems to run away to gambling to salve his emotional turmoil. She seems unable to forget, much less forgive. I don't think that they're a good match. All that said, I hope that whatever happened, they both got to be happier.
I was with an alcoholic and dabbler in drugs. I never knew about the drugs. He never had money 2 days after pay day. He ran up a tab at the local bar that was more than half his paycheck.
My husband has a gambling addiction with scratch off tkts and casino slots. Funny I talked myself blue. Our bank moved locations from around the corner to further away. Things have changed dramatically from $1,000 spending on gambling to zilch. Now we r able to save $2,000 per month. I think gambling addiction is super dangerous like drugs. I have always managed our household $$$. Another thing I did was have on line banking. I c when he withdraws 100 here and their. My husband works very hard talking over and over how he might as well burn the money. I also set goals together like I just bought concert tkts. Something we can enjoy together. He refused any counseling. I feel it's a maturity issue. I feel for this couple.
She definitely needs to work on the resentment that she feels towards him. If she didn't leave him after she found out about it then she will need to look forward and move on together otherwise she just needs to leave him. I personally would have left his ass the moment i found out about it. She might not be the most "likeable" person but she is absolutely right to feel betrayed and her wanting to o control him is most likely one of the ways that's she found to continue to stay in that relationship. Hopefully this taught her a good lesson about letting someone else manage your finances.
I knew a friend who married a very frugal man who was a saver. She was an extreme spender. She left his because he called her out. She cashed in half of their CDs $40,000)and left him. She spent it quickly. He had saved all that money for years working seasonally. He did all the home repairs himself. It was sad.
What I don’t understand is how can she be so upset when she let it happen? Especially because she knew he has issues with money. My husband and I are similar, he’s not very good with money, but before we even got married we decided I would handle the finances, and he’s appreciative of it. I’m even helping him out of debt, luckily theres not too much, but it will get him a better credit score to get him the things he wants. It’s not very fair to be so upset with him, and I just hope she learned to be more humble and not so harsh on her husband who clearly loves her dearly.
I agree. I think if he wasn't trying to get help it would be different but he's trying his best! He went to rehab and even agreed to be on the show / possibly asked her if she wanted to be on the show to get their life together.
Even before Gail called her a bully, I was thinking (based off the edit, of course) that she knew he had problems and bad credit, gave him all the responsibility for the finances, then was harping on him for ruining her credit? I was wondering if she deliberately gave him rope to hang himself with so that she had something to hold over him.
@@haute03My take is based purely on the edit and on some messed up relationships I have seen. I don't know these people IRL, but it came across like a person who's in a messed up relationship because they get some weird emotional satisfaction out of feeling superior to the person they've tied themselves to and blaming them and lording their faults over them. It would be different if she didn't know about his gambling addiction and though he was taking care of business. She knew about them, put him in charge and then went on and on about it.
Being married to a person who doesn’t take responsibility for their actions, is a bad situation. This is why before getting married, talk about money and what their goals are in life because as married couples, you must have the same goals and point of view in life. Without these, marriage will not be successful.
Wow. Allison is taking NO responsibility/accountability here. It's all HIS fault. I don't know if I can forgive HIM. Ok, Your Majesty, what about your bad credit? Blame him for that too? I get where she's coming from, I've been there, but making him feel small, will not work either.
She is being extremely direct because she is so FED UP with him. He has no ambition to improve on his dead end job making minimal money. She is driven to become a doctor. When you are married, you BOTH need to be involved in the household finances. It isn't "fun" but it is necessary for a healthy relationship.
Yeah but the difference here is she had a way out and decided to stay. During the challenges, he tried more with the job thing and she never gave him any credit. She also said in the show that she wanted him o be MORE sorry. You cannot be with someone who has a problem and keep throwing it their face like that. If you decide to stay with someone YOU KNOW has a problem, YOU have to deal with thr fact that it might get better and it might not. Gail was right she is a bully and she seems to like using his problem against him alllll the time.
She _Knew_ he wasn't good with money, but made HIM take care of it all?? He developed a gambling problem, I'm guessing partly out of desperation. And it's all HIS fault?? She is a bully. I hope they didn't have kids.
People normally marry people close to their educational and intellectual status. A (potential) psychologist and a lumber yard worker is very strange. There’s a back story here. It’s all very odd.
'You can be good at being a student but have very low social and emotional intelligence. I have worked with waitresses who are geniuses with people compared to this woman. I have met very few clinical psychologists who do not have emotional and psychological issues. She said openly she wanted a knight in shining armour to take care of her, even though he told her he was bad with money. That is insane. She chose to put her credit rating at risk, she was not forced to. He knows he is messed up but she does not.
Psychiatry huh.. I only visited one ever in my life, for four sessions, at a time when i felt extremely vulnerable. Come to find out the suggestion to see her came from my mother, andthey're actually friends, and knowing my mother's character, every personal thing I confided in the counselor was repeated in full to her
You probably know the song that has the phrase "Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies..." That's all it takes---a few lies, a few promises, and one is enamored, hook, line, and sinker.
It sounds like what Allison really really wanted was a house husband she could leave and come home to a perfect home life, but she only makes 12k. They started as manager/employee but shes realizing he probably has more issues than she thought (30+ and a job every 3 months, 25k in gambling debt in under a year, impulse spending) so she is freaking out and giving performance reviews again instead of facing the fact that leaving will mean losing the condo and having 4 times her salary in debt
It would be interesting to see if they managed to stay married. Currently at the place of the show, the projection doesn’t look good. I pray she was able to find a way to let go of the pain and forgive. And for him to feel loved again.
She is going to be a psychologist and can't figure out her own low achieving, gambling addict "husband"? Plus they are in huge debt and she has color streaked hair? That's not cheap.
Ellison is blaming ONLY HIM, she isn't opening her eyes to where she's to blame....neglect. Hope they make it through those rough stage, but I feel she'll always have noose over him 🤬💥🔥
Not sure the marriage is going to make it. She certainly wants to always to be in control and even tho' hubby worked very hard to make positive changes, she continued to be very negative. She needs to be kinder and stop looking backwards at what was and move positively into a better future. .
Why isn’t this woman at least working part time? I worked my entire time in college. I would have loved to have someone else pay the bills. She can absolutely contribute to the finances.
“Just for future reference, I don’t do things at the TWELTH percentile” lol yikes! Big words from a woman with the most Karen hairstyle I’ve ever seen!
I think we can all agree that this woman is not very likable. She is looking for a knight, while making 12k per year. Yes, he has an addiction, but she is definitely not helping the household.
He,s a "typical" gambler...............does everything to get other person on side.............until the next time or her back is turned "Again"..............she looks as if she,s ready to "bolt"........................
She knew he was a gambler and bad with money and then put him in a position where he was the only one handling the finances. That obviously wasn't going to end well and she needs to take responsibility for that.
I didn't agree with Gail on this one. She's not a relationship expert so she really doesn't have the right to say Alison changed enough or not in the month. They deserved the extra $1000
Her look of death when theybdidn't get the full amount lol. I couldn't stand her. I imagine they are long divorced. Nothing like a partner that likes to hold everything over your head forever (you know she plays that card all the time).
This is the one time I don't agree with Gail. I do not think Allison is a bully. She's rightfully disapointed with how her husband gambled away their finances to the point he dragged her credit rating down. I would be rubbing his nose in it too. She obvisouly loves him, but he really F'd up. I would be extremely upset with that guy. You shouldn't have to babysit someone constantly to pay their bills.
Yes, but at soem point you need to decide whether to forgive and move forward or cut your losses and walk away. She seems to enjoy belittling him (however justified) because the person you love shouldn't be treated that way. How many pounds of flesh should he give to make up for this? And he does seem to be trying (based on what he did on the show) to improve. I mean, he did go out and make the amount to cover he debt, which her student loan was nearly as much as his gambling, so she had a large hand in this mess as well. At soem point when you love someone, you either forgive or walk away. At this point the power is all in her hands as anytime he messes up, or they have an argument she will throw this in his face. I know not everyone reads the Bible, but there's a verse, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8: 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
So she's training to be a clinical psychologist but doesn't see the red flags in this guy? Lol and she herself looks like an emotional or impulsive eater. I suppose easier to tell someone how to live properly
They both have issues and least they working on it but it's a lot of failing and successes. Not a straight fix. They will have to relearn to trust each other but also themselves

All that said, I hope that whatever happened, they both got to be happier.
Being an adult means sucking it up in a job you don't necessarily enjoy so the bills get paid.
Had to do this so many times and very sick of it. It takes two to tango. I'm wondering what these two saw in each other.
She's co-dependent. Unfortunately the co-dependent gets sicker than the addict and a lot more angry.
I divorced a gambler. Run like the wind
I was with an alcoholic and dabbler in drugs. I never knew about the drugs. He never had money 2 days after pay day. He ran up a tab at the local bar that was more than half his paycheck.
When this filmed she was a doctoral candidate not a doctor. Her name should be changed to Karen.
that was a pretty fabulous comment, I applaud you.
She was a doctoral candidate (PhD)in psychology.
Perhaps you should change your name too…
My husband has a gambling addiction with scratch off tkts and casino slots.
Aren't you sick of acting like a babysitter to someone who refuses to be responsible ?
You must be desperate telling all your business
I don’t see how Allison will be able to counsel people.
Shrinks need shrinks themselves 😆
She'll make a mess of it, get sued, and lose her license before she's done.
She can & will blame him for everything.
Wow, she is not about to give up her control over him, she enjoys it too much.
Divorce. Simple as that.
Leave him please, while you're still young...
I feel he should leave her. (PS - these were filmed 15-20 years ago here in Canada). They probably divorced long ago.
I knew a friend who married a very frugal man who was a saver. She was an extreme spender. She left his because he called her out. She cashed in half of their CDs $40,000)and left him. She spent it quickly. He had saved all that money for years working seasonally. He did all the home repairs himself. It was sad.
This couple needs real therapy.
Are you for real ? Clearly you’re not married to an addict who lies to you day in and day out.
Girl. He is a full-blown gambling addict who constantly lies to his wife about their finances. How are you blaming this on the wife?
@@haute03My take is based purely on the edit and on some messed up relationships I have seen. I don't know these people IRL, but it came across like a person who's in a messed up relationship because they get some weird emotional satisfaction out of feeling superior to the person they've tied themselves to and blaming them and lording their faults over them. It would be different if she didn't know about his gambling addiction and though he was taking care of business. She knew about them, put him in charge and then went on and on about it.
I don't see how this couple stayed together long term.
Some toxic relationships are really long term. Because they need each other to continue toxic behaviours
Neither of them could do any better. She’s a food addict and he’s a gambling addict.
Thry are probably long divorced (these were filmed a long time ago here in Canada). I found her extremely unlikeable.
Being married to a person who doesn’t take responsibility for their actions, is a bad situation. This is why before getting married, talk about money and what their goals are in life because as married couples, you must have the same goals and point of view in life. Without these, marriage will not be successful.
i love watching this show
run girl, run
I always thought a psychologist should have their act together before they can counsel someone else on their problems. Granted we are all human but …
Yep, they used to weed out the nutbars.
Therapists have their own therapists. Our own problems and faults are the most difficult for us to see. It's a blind spot.
Some very good psychologists are very messy.
Misleading title. She’s not a doctor she’s a student on 12k
And she's just studying to be a therapist (good grief I can't imagine a much less compassionate person), not a medical doctor.
@@debbielockhart7762 Exactly. I am a PhD but never call myself doctor.
I do not agree that the wife here is 'equally at fault'.
She isn't the gambler addict.
No offense, but a psychology degree is one of the easier degrees to get.
This isn’t true at all… but ok
@Truth love, undergrad, that's tr u e, but she's in a doctoral program. That's nit easy at all.
@truthlove1114 did you get your phd to prove that? No degree is easy.
How do these people always get new jobs so fast?!
Psychiatry huh.. I only visited one ever in my life, for four sessions, at a time when i felt extremely vulnerable. Come to find out the suggestion to see her came from my mother, andthey're actually friends, and knowing my mother's character, every personal thing I confided in the counselor was repeated in full to her
An addict will use the non addict UP in a relationship. I think he will resume gambling at some point
He’s unhappy in his relationship with her; that’s probably what’s causing the gambling problem!
How did this couple ever get married to begin with?
She probably bullied him into it!
You probably know the song that has the phrase "Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies..." That's all it takes---a few lies, a few promises, and one is enamored, hook, line, and sinker.
Alanon is very helpful.
Good Show 👍.
The guy is full of baloney.
What on EARTH did that woman see in him??
she sees someone to look down on.
and control! Smh
I think that they're horribly ill-suited.
An object lesson in why women should never marry down. I lived this:ll
She has so much resentment. Which is understandable, but she needs to work on letting it go for any chance of this relationship working.
She needs to go ahead a file for divorce. She's never going to be able to forgive him. There is nothing more he can say or do to fix the past.
I would run and never look back from a gambler, you can never trust them.
This marriage cannot possibly last. And she is too nuts herself to have any business at all in clinical psych.
It would be interesting to see if they managed to stay married. Currently at the place of the show, the projection doesn’t look good. I pray she was able to find a way to let go of the pain and forgive. And for him to feel loved again.
Leave her bro, he needs a fresh slate, not to have his nose shoved in shit every day by this woman. She holds him in total disdain.
Run Forest, run.
She is going to be a psychologist and can't figure out her own low achieving, gambling addict "husband"? Plus they are in huge debt and she has color streaked hair? That's not cheap.
Yeah, I noticed the hair right away.
She’s bitter and angry, but yet can’t match his energy to change with him. relationships are a two way dynamic
Wow I didn't even knwo this episode yet!! 😊
I would LOVE to know what the note on the bathroom wall said. 16:25
Ellison is blaming ONLY HIM, she isn't opening her eyes to where she's to blame....neglect. Hope they make it through those rough stage, but I feel she'll always have noose over him 🤬💥🔥
My son is being bullied by his wife.😢
your son in this video??
Wow shes hates him for sure..i dont do 12percent
Not sure the marriage is going to make it. She certainly wants to always to be in control and even tho' hubby worked very hard to make positive changes, she continued to be very negative. She needs to be kinder and stop looking backwards at what was and move positively into a better future. .
Why isn’t this woman at least working part time? I worked my entire time in college. I would have loved to have someone else pay the bills. She can absolutely contribute to the finances.
She's working. Graduate assistants earn very little.
Truth hurts
Title says doctor???
“Just for future reference, I don’t do things at the TWELTH percentile” lol yikes! Big words from a woman with the most Karen hairstyle I’ve ever seen!
Why she has to forgive him.? All the blame is for her? Really?
I want to know if they are the people featured on the show are still together..
I think we can all agree that this woman is not very likable. She is looking for a knight, while making 12k per year. Yes, he has an addiction, but she is definitely not helping the household.
There is a zero percent chance that they stayed together
This is a bad match. I wish they would do a "Where are they now" episode.
Wrong title, very clearly.
She needs to divorce his sorry ass.
i work in a casino. i see it. if i find out you have a problem im out
Her look of death when theybdidn't get the full amount lol. I couldn't stand her. I imagine they are long divorced. Nothing like a partner that likes to hold everything over your head forever (you know she plays that card all the time).
Well, Allison was honest. Had she said what the financial counselor wanted to hear they would have gotten the extra 1K.
Lol....yall make it sound like shes a medical doctor
She aint no doctor
Allyson isn't contributing financially yet she still complains
She’s working! She’s a research assistant.
She’s far too smart to stay with a gambling addict.
I know not everyone reads the Bible, but there's a verse, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8:
4 Love is patient, love is kind.
But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
it's understandable that alison was angry but her attitude was not helping.
He's working 3 jobs supporting her dream of being a doctor. She would do well to remember that instead of treating him like shit.
So she's training to be a clinical psychologist but doesn't see the red flags in this guy? Lol and she herself looks like an emotional or impulsive eater. I suppose easier to tell someone how to live properly
This is a person who wants to counsel others??? She's mean, her "direct statements" are unnecessarily harsh, & seems to have no insight whatsoever.
I feel for Allison. They are a terrible match. Hopefully this relationship is in her rear view mirror now.
They both have issues and least they working on it but it's a lot of failing and successes. Not a straight fix. They will have to relearn to trust each other but also themselves
