I got a dirt jumper for similar reasons, I used to ride my bmx all over the place when I was younger but I rather ride my mountain bike around now but there are times when I pass by something and I wish I had my bmx with me. So a dirt jumper kinda works for both those things.
My guy, this is exactly what I want a DJ bike for. I want to commute in a tiny town (literally 18km end to end) and be able to do BMX shit when I'm in the mood. Thanks for validating my opinion.
A dropper post would be cool to put on your DJ. You can you get one of those where the lever is at the seat to actuate it. Would add a bit more versatility to the bike.
I was thinking the same thing. If I had the money I would put a dropper on every bike I have because it makes it feel so much more versatile and those seat actuated ones wouldn't mess with bar spins. The only problem I could see is seat angle not being right and seat tube angle would might put you too far back but having a higher seat would make the getting around town portion much more enjoyable.
That's a fine reply....I couldn't ride around on this bike hitting my chin with my knees.... I've got an '07 GT Chucker I built up.....being in a flat part of eastern England, I just bung a long seatpost on it and use it as an XC bike.....Great fun though.....I'll certainly be looking into a dropper post as you suggested for this old battered bike.....
Could always just use a quick release seat post clamp too. I cant use that though cause my frame has an integrated seat clamp, I carry an allen key in my pocket when I remember though 😜
So I built a 2004 trek bruiser 2 as a dirt jumper, it worked, but last weekend my wife got me a haro steel reserve and I love it! Slightly different geometry made all the difference
I really enjoy seeing Canada in the background to these videos. It's picturesque, clean, seems to have a good well maintained infrastructure and evidently only around 4, maybe 5 people live there.
This is a good video, and that bike is cool... but I want to say that I really enjoyed the GTMX, and the Grouch. That sort of stuff influenced me a great deal. Growth is good too, and you seem to have a lot of it happening lately. Happy today.
That's basically a 26" hardtail bike. I purchased a 29" BMX from SE Bikes lately and that's the best all-purpose bike ever, lacking a front suspension but it's fine, it gives the bike a better BMXish feeling. Nice video!
This is me, but with my single speed hardtail. I don't know any tricks, so skateparks are out. But I can bomb stairs, jump curbs and hit some trails if I want. And you're right, having a bike that can do basically anything is a lot of fun because it opens up so much more stuff to do than just sticking to roads.
So, I have a roadie (2 actually), a flat-bar roadie, CX bike, gravel bike, adventure bike, hardtail 29er and half a dozen 90s MTBs but "all I need" is a dirt-jumper... unfortunately, at my age that would be suicidal. Cool looking bikes, but I'm about 30 (okay...40) years too late for that stuff. yeah, there's a part of me that wants one... the same part that wants a hang glider or a jet-ski. I think there's a saying about mind, body and cheques that's applicable.
Why not a single speed with a more conventional seating position? It would seem to be more comfortable/efficient for everything but that skate park. Maybe a dropper, or just lower the seat when you want to play there.
I think I'd like a tiny skatepark like this... maybe I could finally feel not overwhelmed with the concrete stuff there and I'd learn how to ride them... 🤔
More DJ videos please. I was contemplating of selling DJ, but after watching your video I might wanna keep it. Just a commute to pump track is fairly long, so thinking a dropper
"Just go ride" he says, as there's waves crashing into my garden, trees falling over, and slates blowing off roofs... Nah I think I'll just watch you have fun, and wait till the weather's better, so, probably April
Now I suddenly want a dirt jump bike, also congratulations to you and Angela on your soon to be marriage. I knew about the engagement for a while now from her instagram, didn’t want to bring it up out of respect for you 👍
Wow, I see how it is - just as we’ve all finished rebuilding our 90s mtbs 😮
agree - just finished a GTMX with a zaskar frame.
@@dunabomber same, frame was already too small for me so perfect for a GTMX.

I’ve been so on the fence about building up a dirt jumper but fuck it you’ve convinced me

@@jasonw7053 Old school '90's...Yeah !!!
Really appreciate the "photo/vlog essay" format of this video. It suits the channel well!
Great video !!!!!! I agree with you on the dirt jumper. They are the most fun to ride, and great to hone your bike skills
Thank you Dr. Spindatt. Best therapy ever.

A 6th person has moved in since this video dropped. Getting crowded.

I think the dirt jumper is cool and different at the same time, like a BMX mtn bike. And nice that you rode with your dad I like that.
Well, that was probably the most hilarious "Friends!" intro so far;)! And man, you sure made the most out of that skate park, pretty great!
dirt jumper or bmx cruiser for commuting and jumping curbs and stuff maybe some trails

Agreed, as a Big Flyer myself, they're awesome street/park bikes, but I'm adding a Norco Rampage for more flow/jump trail riding.
Is the single speed ever a problem? I live in an area that has some hills but I have wanted a dirtjumper
Awesome choice, I love my old STP dirt jumper 😎
The front brake can be routed right through the fork steerer then you can ride trails better and still throw bar spins!

DJers are so versatile, I think the name throws people off 😊
Is that the Giant STP? If so, how do you like it? Looking to get a DJ myself and was checking out the Giant STP
Question: Do you lift the seat up of your DJ, when trail riding?
I do exactly the same thing except I go to the deli for a newspaper and coffee 😁
Getting turned on to a good dirt jumper is the best thing that’s ever happened to me - it’s like having wings!

Has the work on the dirt jump park stopped now? Haven't heard you mention it in ages
Today I am in Vancouver British Columbia and I will be wearing my spindatt Norton tee
Nice riding!
i only have dirt jumpers.. and a bmx
I love both of those things
I needed that.

Congrats on the soon to be married or am I the only one that misheard that. Sick vid btw
That new fork looks so good

I want to move back out east. Ontario sucks 😂
Dam you convinced me to buy a dirt jumper

My only bike is a dirt jumper with a 1x11
Whicked!
The best bike is the one you have. Heard that somewhere.
lol did you catch the DJ bug at the same time as me?
SIngle speeds are always the funnest, and those shoes are still the best. 👉🏻"Just Go Ride" 👈🏻
pedal grinding chainring side? Naughty naughty.
Clap! Click! Friends!
Hmm... 🤔
Hey Eric, that shirt is rad. Please stop making DJ content because I really really really cannot stress enough how much I don't need another bike.
"...soon to be wife..." !!
owns 20+ bikes... doesn't have a car bike rack hmm
