Im not sure I agree. Bcos he naturally picks himself. He's got Van Djik - who was right next to him. So understandable he picked him. Staam and Vidic were teammates and Man U legends. Carvalho imo was better than Terry.

In terms of trophies? Perhaps. But in terms of individual abilities? I don't think so. Vidic was not confident in using left and right interchangeably. He had no pace. He was just a monster, without brain actually.

Rio Ferdinand was so over rated for his "ball playing" ability. And John Terry was so underrated for his ability on the ball. Don't get me wrong, both were terrific CBs, for sure top 5 CB in PL history as of today.

To imply Terry couldn't play in any team in any era is a really bad take and it comes across as salty. I assume that just comes down to pace, not sure what else he'd say as it's the only thing Rio had on him.
Yet whilst Rios legs were gone at QPR, JT was still leading Chelsea winning trophies, why? Because he could read the game like Rio couldn't comprehend. It might be personal preference, I'd have him ahead of Stam and VVD in terms of ability, longevity and achievements for his team.
After a few Stellas one night i wrote my premier league all time team down on some paper. Im 47 so iv seen the premier league from the very start. In my team are players past and present. Lots of crazy hard decisions to make but for me the hardest one was who partners VVD at the back. His lack of pace was an issue but i just opted for John Terry.

As a defender - terry was the best. A centre back that doesn't rely on strength, pace or height, but straight defending and intelligence. Very similar to why thiago silva has such a legendary status, and puyol, ramos etc
