Definitely watch the _Angel TV Show._ It along with _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_ has moments that play like the MCU where there are crossovers and character development that doesn't make sense if you only watch _Buffy the Vampire Slayer._ That said, you don't have to worry about it until the beginning of S4. I enjoy the music during Buffy walking around at night. Creepy to the point where it was used for DVD Menus.
You definitely need to watch angel stt the same time as buffy season 4 starts, you're definitely gonna regret not watching them at the same time because of crossovers and angel is definitely a better character then he is in buffy.
Being creeped out by this particular baddie is totally valid. This is the first of three villians in the whole series I genuinely find creepy based on looks/movement.
It’s been so long since I watched this series that I’m definitely enjoying this journey with you, I thought this episode was great and somewhat scary, but I’m loving how the who group is pulling together to help Buffy! Cordy is stepping up and Xander definitely wants to get rid of Angel…..
I would definitely recommend at least trying out what it's like to alternate between Buffy season 4 and Angel season 1 episodes! There's a lot of fun silly crossover shenanigans that I could see you really enjoying! ^^ (also Angel is a lot more interesting and palatable on his own show than any of his Buffy appearances) And then, if it turns out it's not really your thing, you could always stop alternating and just continue on with Buffy solo as you have been (we'd all understand!
I thought this was a pretty decent stand alone episode, with the children in fear of the monster. Buffy again comes through and we see her as the ultimate protector she is. This is actually quite scary in that Der Kindestod is a terrible monster, which we do see throughout the show that some of the monsters are incredibly evil and terrifying. The fears of children are well shown in this episode and the innocence and fear they have. Quite a funny and cute scene at the end where we see Buffy, Willow, and Xander acting like children themselves letting Joyce run around providing them with snacks and drinks, a great scene where we are reminded they are at this point still very much kids themselves.
I think you will LOVE the Buffy episode named "Hush". It's super scary and it won awards. I was wondering what your area of study was. I love your artwork and the style!!!
Thank you so much! I'm an illustration major. 🖤 Oh boy, my spouse has been urging me to get to "Hush" pronto. He'll be glad to know that someone else will agree with him. 😆
I've tried getting into the Angel series but never managed to, so I won't be missing anything if you don't react to it. It doesn't start until Buffy season 4, so you still have a good few months before it makes sense anyway to see if you have time and want to watch it Also this was not my favorite episode, but also I do realize the standards for this season are high
Are you sure about that? I can't imagine season 4 of buffy makes any sense without watching Angel season 1. There are Buffy episodes that are literally the "part 2" of Angel episodes. In fact I would say just watch s1 of Angel alongside Buffy and when that's done you can just stop.
@@samrobotsin You say that, and maybe you're right, but I still haven't seen more than maybe the first... three? episodes of Angel and had little issue following Buffy S4, even if in those two-parters a little context may be missing. For a reaction it would probably advisable to watch at least those 2-parters, or maybe all of season 1, I don't know; I do know though that I won't be watching the Angel parts personally because I've tried with other reactors too and still never got hooked even when the episodes were cut down to the most interesting parts. But I do think the majority of the comments agree with you in any case :D
@@wreathedriver2856 So you don't actually know if it's any good or not. I like how the dedicated "Buffy fans" like to think that theirs is the only opinion that matters on the Angel series. Angel is a separate show with a fan base of it's own.
@@gungho1284 That's... not at all what I said? All I've expressed in these comments is that it's not for me, and therefore I won't mind if it doesn't get a reaction, especially if the reason is no time for it. I know there's good in the series, I've seen some gif sets and spoilers that I know I'd enjoy in isolation, and also some things I know I'd hate, but tbh that's not any different from Buffy. In any case, no, I have neither said nor implied what you've seem to read into my comments, so there's no need to be aggressive
Utterly useless trivia: Richard Herd, who plays Doctor Backer, is one of those actors one saw all over the place on TV, including TNG and Voyager. List of acting credits as long as your leg, printed in the weeniest of fonts.
I don't love this episode. It suffers by coming right after the greatness that is Passion, but I always thought it was a little bland anyways. Just Freddy Kreuger, no real twist. I think I would enjoy it more if it turns out the kid WAS manifesting it! That feels much more "Buffy," somehow. I'm a staunch defender of Angel-the-Series (AtS) but I respect your decision not to get into it. This is always an argument in the comments for every reactor, so I'll let the "Buffy-only" party enjoy the win on this one 😂 (But I would like to suggest watching Angel 1x8 after Buffy 4x8? Even if only for yourself!)
Just jumping in to say I couldn't really get into Angel and only watched Buffy. You do miss some interesting stories, but it doesn't impact your understanding of anything that happens in Buffy.
I struggle so much with jump scares and classic horror movie monsters, so I have to look away from this episode more than any other haha. I'm sad you missed the eye sucking in the reaction! I was kind of looking forward to a freakout, because I am the same way... But I understand not liking it at all :) I looked away the second it started on my first viewing too You made an episode that I don't really like fun to watch! My biggest issue with this episode is that it spends so much time setting up the doctor or security guard as the monster. You have Giles waxing poetic about the dark nature of man... And it all amounts to nothing. It's actually just a monster and there's nothing deeper going on. It's... Weird.
@@TheRiskPig ahhhh, you missed it even in editing? I'd recommend steeling your nerves and watching it at least once. It's top 2 most disturbing visuals in the entire show. It's intense. If you really don't want extremely unsettling visuals, I suppose don't go look, but it feels like a little bit of a shame to miss out on perhaps the creepiest thing they ever did! Just for the sake of having the whole experience! And I say all of this as a fellow horror wimp. XD It's at the end when he is defeated!
This has always been one of my favorite filler episodes. No advancement to the story, and it’s kind of a Nightmare on Elm Street rip-off, but i find it sufficiently creepy, and a nice break.
Was that a Hook reference?

"a lot" is overstating it by quite "a lot". it's a big time investment for relatively little benefit on the _buffy_ side.
Power Girl could easily be a generic name someone didn't know was a real hero, but Joss definitely knows comics.
Oh yeah, for sure. I didn't even know about her until the new 52 circa 2011.
You only get one chance to watch Buffy and Angel concurrently.
The late Willie Garson as the security guard.
Wait... late? Omg, I had no idea! Poor guy. 😞

21:40 A symphony of Big Lebowski quotes went off in my head at this exact moment. Thank you, LOL : D
At least in Sunnydale there's more than one cemetery so Angel wouldn't always know where to find her...

Thanks for another fun reaction! We don't mind late Buffy. Hopefully, your college calms down on the arse-kicking front.
