Guys from Europe, google and consider excellent riveting wheels "Rosie the Riveter" from Mr. Dousek - he has wide variety of pitches for different scales and also double wheeled tools. I am really satisfied with these... Metodi, you did nice job on this tutorial, thanks a lot :-) keep in mind, that it is also possible (and sometimes better) to do riveting on surface, that was already covered by Mr. Surfacer or other type of primer - so you don't have to worry about loosing your tiny rivet lines under surfacer/primer layers...
Thanks, I believe that Rosie the riveter uses the wheels from RB. Yes I have tried this but in some cases I prefer to do the riveting before I assemble the model hence the parts are still not primed.
Thanks mate, if the subject is popular a google search for blueprints may give good results. Some reference books include blueprints, like those from Kagero. Sometimes I have to study photos and make something up. They are hard to come by generally.
I completely understand the riveting tool leaving some "burrs" on the surface of the model, but by sanding, don't you sometimes fill the rivet holes you just created with styrene dust? To maybe answer my own question, I guess some isopropyl alcohol on a strip of paper towel would/could remove. Thoughts?
@@MMScaleModels Yup, that too! I'm in the process of my first big (literally) re-scribe and rivet adventure with the old Monogram 1/48 B-24J. Re-scribing is done but I'm going to put the fuselage halves together before I start the riveting. Obviously will need to repair some scribe lines along the fuselage seams as well. It's a huge project but worth it in the end...........hopefully!
@@MMScaleModels Tell me about it! This tutorial helped a lot towards how I'm going to tackle it. I'm sure it'll go fine. I just need to be patient.......haha!

It took me 2 weeks to rivet a Revell 1/32 Beaufighter...I gave it a light sand afterwards...It looked really good...but then sprayed it...After a one coat of primer and one top coat the rivets were gone...so beware...I was gutted...I used the revell riveter and the Galaxy tools riveter...both disappeared
@@MMScaleModels Thanks for the advice...I'm still learning after been absent from the hobby for 40 years...I'm enjoying it again and so much has moved on since the 70's when I was a kid...I didn't have the money back then to buy spray kits and compressors and I'd never heard or making rivets...The Beau 1/32 is a good model now (apart from the lack of rivets)...I re-scribed the panels and modded the undercarriage wells and cannon holes...and it looks pretty good with the weathering too...All in the name of fun!...Thanks again
This tool can get into very tight spaces due to it's small diameter. Where it cannot go I use sawing needle in pin vice.. usually we are talking about up to 5 rivets so not a big deal... same for the circles.. needle
Can you tell me where you get your rivet drawings from please? I'm wanting it for c-47 skytrain but I'm falling short so far. Any help would be appreciated.
@@MMScaleModels yeah I get that, you do know there are rivets that are flush to the skin, and those that stick out a little, ie. button heads. There are no indents/holes for rivets after the rivets are shot.
@@MMScaleModels I guess as an actual aircraft mechanic(C-130 & A-10)I'm just wondering what exactly is the riveting tool supposed to be detailing, raised or flush rivets?
Hey my friend!! Here it is 2 years later and I find myself back here watching this video again.. still one of the best tutorial riveting video.
Hey mate, thanks!
This is how you take in enjoyable hobby and turn it into a stressful math test.

Thanks mate👍🍻
Fabulous tutorial! Everything very clearly explained and easy to understand. Great filming too. Very inspirational! Thank you!!!
Thanks mate :)
That was a great tutorial. Thanks for your time in sharing this technique.
Thanks for watching mate 👍🍻
Great timing I just bought a scale plans book today, This video couldn't have come at a better time. Thanks
That's super cool coincidence 😃
Where did you get the scale plans book?
Don't think I've got the patience (or skill!) for this, but appreciate the video!
Patience and skill can be obtained trough practice so don't write yourself off :)
Thanks for the advise! It works fantastic on soft metal, the type used in handcraft. Looks nice!
Happy to help 👍
Great tutorial.....lots of details and great tips. Perfect timing....I'm just about ready to rivet a 1/32 Heinkel 111 so thank you!!
Thanks for watching mate and have fun :)
Well the larger the number smaller the scale. 1:2 is half size and so on.
Excellent tutorial.
Thanks mate 👍🍻
Keep making tutorials mate we learn from you and it's great thanks for sharing
Thanks mate, I am open for suggestions. 👍

Fantastic! Thank you much for your tutorial!!Really great!!

Nicely done, thanks 👍
Thanks Jerry 🍻👍
Thank you for the tutorial. But, where do you find the plan of construction ? Thank you !
Thanks mate, if the subject is popular a google search for blueprints may give good results. Some reference books include blueprints, like those from Kagero. Sometimes I have to study photos and make something up. They are hard to come by generally.
I always do the drawing freehand on the model. saves a lot of time. I did a Corsair like that in 4 hours of work. I havce very stable hands though.
It works for sure 👍
Buen Tutorial Felicidades!!!!!!!
Thanks mate 👍🍻
Very nice
Thanks mate 👍🍻
Great technique and tutorial -where do you find the drawing plans at?
Thanks mate, those are from a kagero publishing book. A friend has one and was kind enough to scan them for me.
Отличный ролик 👍🖐️🤗

Plus some air from the airbrush to blow the dust out... sometimes it stays in quite persistently.

Hi there,
Love the videos.
What was the blue tape that you were using please?
Thank you
Thanks mate 👍🍻, it's from the car painting shop or you can check it out here www.amazon.com/shop/mmscalemodels?listId=1ZQ8TKLOXWTO0&ref=exp_inf_sh_mb_list_own_mmscalemodels_cp
That's great.
Thank you
I know I am late to this (sorry) what is the blue tape that you use please. ?
No such thing as being late over here :) It is fine line vinyl tape like this one here amzn.to/46ryWjt
Thanks! If you also want to do stressed panels, better riveting before or after?
TBF I have never attempted stressed skin effect... Here is one awesome tutorial: ratomodeling.com/articles/stressed_skin/
@@MMScaleModels thanks again. Your technique really impressed me, is so smart and clever.
What riveting tool do u use. RB productions?
Yes, it RB's riveter
Excellent video Metodi.. Is the tape 3m 471?? Or What Brand??
Thanks, mine has no brand on it (I bought it from a car painting supplies shop) but is similar to the 3m one.
How do you purchase the rivet tool
Bought it from their website but I believe they are out of business
Where do you find the drawings
mostly with google search but the best are in reference books
A great tutorial! Do you use riveting on small scale models as well (1/72)?
Thanks, yes I do.. I skip it on 1/144th airliners so far.
Thorough clean up to remove as much stuff from the rivets as possible and then very thin paint layers. For me this is the way.

That's the important bit, getting some joy out of it
I feel your pain
Those black latex gloves really help with...really help with...wait....wait...how do they help?
Keep things clean... Both ways
how does the tool work in corners, i mean when you cannot finish the line because of an obstacle? ...or along circles of small diameter?
This tool can get into very tight spaces due to it's small diameter. Where it cannot go I use sawing needle in pin vice.. usually we are talking about up to 5 rivets so not a big deal... same for the circles.. needle

Question: Which or what rivets is the riveting tool simulating, flush heads or button heads?
Scale model rivet heads 😉
@@MMScaleModels yeah I get that, you do know there are rivets that are flush to the skin, and those that stick out a little, ie. button heads. There are no indents/holes for rivets after the rivets are shot.
OK, so? This is the choice of me and many others who are not that pedantic.
@@MMScaleModels I guess as an actual aircraft mechanic(C-130 & A-10)I'm just wondering what exactly is the riveting tool supposed to be detailing, raised or flush rivets?
@@MMScaleModels besides, being pedantic is actually the goal for scale modelers isn't it? You know; details, accuracy, authenticity, etc.
where do you get that riveting tool?
I ordered it directly from RB
@@MMScaleModels thanks!
Where did you get the tool?
Orderes directly from RB
Why not use the tape as a guide for the rivet tool instead of free hand on a pencil line?
Just more convenient for me.
