My man, that is everything I needed. There is a great book called "White Tiger." It is about an Indian chauffeur who bludgeons his employer using a Blue-Label Bottle. He then takes his place and becomes a rich and important man in Indias' high society. Knowing how thick that bottle is, and how it is used as a stand-in for being of higher status, gives it so much more weight in the context of the story. Pardon the pun.
I contributed and continue to contribute with my favourite red lable, blue lable for when I want to enjoy a good cigar.. In Chicago I can only get it in plastic bottles now, I hate it..
How do you date a bottle of 12 year old black label? I’ve had mine over 20 years and it’s made in Kilmarnock- has letters and nos on base and also a digital barcode on the bottom of the box.
Another brilliant video, full of info and details, congrats!. Two extra info bits regarding Gold and Blue Labels: Gold Label was developed originally as a 15 yo blend in 1990 and launched in Japan, and in 1992 it had a Kilmarnock edition celebrating its 400 years as a burgh. In 1995 it was relaunched as a 18 yo. Blue Label, on the other hand, had a predecessor in 1987 named JW Oldest, with the same bottle design and blue color in the label developed by Tom Jago and James Espey, with a rather unique (and indeed out of law-ish) age statement as it has a 15 to 60 years old mention in its bottle and box in its first edition and which was dropped immediately after (I have one of those unique bottles). In 1992 it was decided to rename it as Blue Label. Cheers!
Amazing - this is great. We are going to be jumping into the details about some of the more iconic JW bottles in their own videos and the Green and Blue are the main ones! Do you have a favourite from the lineup?
@@MarkLittler great!! Here in Lisbon we have the Guinness Record for largest whisky collection and if you visit it you can see how screw topped bottles have more evapuration even with tape. Cheers!
Been collecting Johnnie Walker for 25 years .Entire Ghost And Rare .Odyssey. King GeorgeV XR Angel Chen ETC.Got over 100 bottles . Next year I'm going to sell them. Investment wise do you think it is a good one ..David in Glasgow..
I do have a bottle of Green Label before it was Discontinued, also I have a bottle that was a re-release special before it made a full comeback to the market
Great opportunity for some lucky whisky drinkers to buy a liquid gem and a piece of history as well. If I lived in Europe I would definitely buy a sample, but geographical limitations make it really difficult for me. Cheers!
Very enjoyable episode. Be good to also have an episode on all various blue label bottle variations. Also I still have a bottle of the Gold label 18 YO centenary blend and 15 YO pure malt both from around year 2000
You missed one of the most unique differences in green label with the others in the lineup... it's the only 43% abv. If Diageo brought back the green, then why are they not bumping their basic abv to at least to 43 for the other "premium" bottles???
I’m sorry in my opinion the RUclipsr is very obvious it looks as a marketing person of Jw I like some of them of course, but make statements like “blue label is one of the best ..l”, it is too aggressive Just my opinion and I can be wrong

My favourite is my “dessert island” whisky: Johnnie Walker Black Label.
Mark, you gotta add the "Cork vs Screw Top" check as a quality indicator also. LOL cheers!
Ah, good point. Watch this space for lots of chats about screwcaps too ;)

Good call! We will be doing exactly that in the New Year!
I'm intruiged. And of course, I'm going to have get myself a small scales now, to test the quality of the whisky in my collection.
I know what would stop the bottle coming out of the bottom of the box. SCOTCH tape 😂😂😂😂😂😂
