I have the first two, long term investments for me, not too worried about the short term. @Mark what do you think of the Bowmore Aston Martin masters collection for long term investment?
Anyone give advice on a good collection to go for that is very low price like £300 per bottle and super light in colour, nice drinking whiskey and high age. Very specific ask
Like your IWC comparison Mark. I don't own any MaCallan, but do have x1 limited edition Dalmore in my collection. I may also have a Portofino on my wrist!!!
Seen the Ardbeg before this video and I was wowed but then upon seeing this video I become more convinced of potential upside. I managed to get this for £585 from royal mile whiskies using a 10% off code for first time customers. I am delighted to add this absolute beauty to my collection. My first Ardbeg.
It's a pity that there is nothing from GLENFARCLAS in this episode, this time as you have already presented several bottles, Mark. What comparison would you use for this distillery to describe it as a watch manufacturer? Greetings from the WHISKY UPDATE channel
Whew! I was waiting for 2 months for the new upload! Finally! It was like a premiere episode for me. Haha! Solid points, can’t wait for the following episode related to this. And yes I agree, the whisky market is a bit crazy now, I don’t know if it’s a good time to collect for an investment or just like me, enjoy collecting and seeing it on my shelves, but I’m still hoping that someday it’ll have a worth of good amount of money. Now all the distilleries are into “limited edition.” Then release another year a new batch or series of “limited edition.” haha! Where will it go back to the time where the age is one that matters?
I lost my voice screaming “Glenfarclas Family Cask”!!! They are the same as Fine & Rare people for dirt cheap. Also the Macallan 18 YO I agree but issue is everyone is doing it. Our kids will all have the same bottles 😂😂
Hi Mark, really appreciate your videos. Have you looked at the craft irish whiskey co? Their first release of the Donn (the first reasonable price bracket from their other releases - they have the record for highest price for a whiskey ever sold) is quietly available for pre-public release for people who signed up to receive info on it. £215 - stunning bottle, blended whisky with a few awards (still very high price for a no age statement, but suppose they're targeting the ultra premium market from the outset). A box they designed for it did win a design award, but a shame they haven't included the box (they said this was to keep the price down), when compared to the likes of midleton very rare (bring back the wooden box!). In house designer worked for quite a few main brands before joining them. I've taken a punt given what they've sold previously and that this is the only one i can afford! Curious on your thoughts.
Mark, Titanic distillery in Belfast are selling casks for £8000 for investments. Do you think this would be a good investment for around 5 or 6 years? I don’t know much about the industry for investing but I'm very interested. Thanks, Roy.
I just invested at the bottom of the market with a 3 yo from tallibadine just £2500. I used World of Whiskey, give them a call. You can buy through distilleries but a broker can support you in selling when your done. Don’t forget you can hold whiskey shorter term but I would go Scotland Peted for my full investment, An entry barrel gives you a chance to get to the bonded warehouse and distillery and start to learn. It’s a lot of fun and what has now driven me to start a small bottle collection.
@MotionEvolutionLouise I just invested today in a bottle from Wild Atlantic Distillery in Ireland. It's from the first ever cask produced by this distillery and just opened two days ago.
Please please please stop encouraging these distilleries calling themselves “luxury brands” in creating whisky for collecting and their arbitrary investment portfolio pricing of what is very ordinary whisky. They are not old or rare and the fact they come in a box is no justification for the outrageous price. It’s not an investment vehicle, it’s a drink and you can buy tastier 18 year old whisky for 1/3 of the price.
"Macallan as Rolex" This youtuber is probably the guru of all flippers. Somehow, I feel any whisky drinker would know more about the product than this youtuber.
@@efuchsman I mean if you are into pyramid schemes yes. It all hinges on the fact that someone else will take your debt for you. That is not exactly investment but you do you.
Anything can be an investment vehicle. Clearly buying a cask, ie something that gets more scarce and improves with age, inherently increases in value. Bottles seem more of a collection than anything else but can you see the market for Whisky going away? Me neither. Solid as far as I'm concerned.
@@carlossanders8427hi. What info makes you think it’s not an investment, there is an incredible global market, especially for the Asian countries. But I’m interested to understand where the risk really is if you really consider what you buy. I know people making just £30 to £90 per bottle by flipping some then reinvesting in slightly better bottles so they are making a few hundred every month but isn’t that better than money in the bank. So please can you take me through your thoughts. This is not rhetoric I’m genuinely interested in making more money through whiskey,
No review of last years performance!
It's on a separate video 👍👍 will be along in a few weeks. It covers the first videos bottles too 👍👍

Just ordered the Macallan 18yo Sherry Oak 2024, after ordering the 2023 and 2022 on your recommendation. Cheers!

Picked up the Ardbeg for £515 total with delivery and costs on auction. Happy with that result
Good Luck, Mark ! ... after 30+ years of dramming over 1,000+ bottles, the Investment bus can go on without me. I open all mine.

The latest Springbank 30 (bourbon cask) tastes superb. Great provenance, incredibly low run and a decent price for a 30yo whisky.....
I have macallan 18 sherry oak 2016,great investment
only 1 bottle

What about the harpy’s tale and the new unicorn tale. Are they worth collecting?

I have a bottle of highland park 1967 bottled 98 rare old collection in a wooden box . . . no idea how much it is worth .
