I am in shock that Skye Blakely is a bigger contendor then Jade AND Jordan, who would’ve imagined that 2 months ago? So proud of how much she’s improved in the past year. Also, this is the exact same team I am considering so I think it really is good.
I started seeing Skye as a major contender after her very impressive VT, UB, and BB scores from the national team camp in July were released. She more than lived up to those scores here.
I mean I'm not surprised- Jade and Jordan decided to spend the majority of their time after world last year focused on the collegiate level. I mean it readily showed in their level of gymnastics at these championships.
I believe in the team FINAL it is 3 gymnasts and all 3 must perform so if something similar happens there isn’t a choice of alternative like in Tokyo. Only in qualifications you have 5 gymnasts, 4 of them to perform while the 3 best scores count thus what you say is applicable
In 2021 Jordan was that though. She didn't have a single fall in the year leading up to the Olympics until qualifications. She was the most consistent of anyone all year that year.
@@kiraalldredge48Jordan had ZERO international experience and she went straight to the Olympics while Leanne has plenty. Jordan was completely shocked with the scores the judges started giving to them and her personally and it showed and she was heavily influenced.

@@mariahazcueta3621I think the question is if they want someone who can contribute on every event or if they want a floor/vault specialist that can potentially medal. If Leanne is already on the team, she can contribute on every event (as well as Simone), so they may not need Jordan. I agree jade has more international experience than josc but I think right now josc is scoring higher since jade hasn’t brought all her upgrades back. I’d take jade if she has the right amount of difficulty (I mean, she’s the reigning Olympic floor champion!) but for 2023 if josc is consistently out scoring jade, she makes more sense at this time. Leanne and Jordan are like the Grace McCallum of this quad. They probably won't win individual medals, but they are reliable backups on every event. Given both their performances at nationals Leanne is probably a better pick, but we'll see what happens
Agree with you 100% and if Leeann cam stay consistent i think she is lock she looks so good this year!! Mentally she seem to be in a great place with her gymnastic she looks so confident & happy thid year!! I love it so has made me a fan.

I’m hoping Leanne upgrades at camp because her consistency is key, but I’d really love her to solidify her team spot with even a few upgrades particularly to UB and BB. All in all a really exciting time for gymnastics!
Kaliya is in the mix too. I sadly don't think Jade brings enough to the table right now. I am grateful I am not responsible for picking the team. They need to go with the highest scoring team Simone and Shilese are locks then you have to do the math on the rest of the events to fit the pieces together. No matter how its put together its going to me dynamite
I agree with most of this, but I'd give Jo a bit more credit and say she does still have individual medal potential on FX and potentially vault if others have off days
Do you mean Joscelyn? On floor? No way, literally NO WAY. They will simply butcher her so she doesn’t get any medal, no way they will reward a gymnast during this quad who can’t hit 90 degrees on her leaps lol
Love this team and I’m a Leanne Stan but my thing is, she doesn’t maximize a team score. In TF she would only be used on balance beam, if that’s the case then why not bring someone who has higher scoring capabilities on beam or maximize on vault and bring jade. I want her on the team but also I’m like it feels like a waste of a spot because she’s not going to make finals and she’s only being used for 1 event. And shilese scored higher on beam both days at nationals.
She has a high decently high score on all 4 though.. If something similar to Tokyo happens and Jade needs to do beam or bars what do you think will happen
@@tomkiene4144 take Jordan instead of Leanne. Between Shi, Simone, Jordan and Skye they have all events covered. Just depends whether Jordan is back to her usual shape by camp
To those saying "incase something similar to Tokyo happens there is need for a steady AA'r" I don't think the same, in Tokyo the team had 4 steady AA'rs with only 2 gymnasts with high scoring potential, the team relied more on Biles and Suni's scores for the team, so if I was the selection Committee I would consider 2 stable AA'rs, 1 stable AA'r with atleast 2 high scoring events and 2 specialists
My pick as well after the first night of team selection camp. Biles and Jones were pretty much locks going into the selection camp. They are the top 2 all arounders. Wong is the 3rd consistent all-arounder. Roberson and Blakely are the offsetting “specialists” with serviceable routines on their weak events. Lincoln threw her name into the ring with her top 5 finishes on beam and floor and her more than solid vault. Same goes for DiCello. I think Chiles, Carey, and Sumanasekera have eliminated themselves from contention unless they have the meets of their lives on day 2 and others have subpar or get injured. Miller is also excluded because of weakness on 3 events (even though she is world class on bars).
I agree with you, however I'm leaning toward Skye being pretty much a lock too with those scores we need on beam and bars. And those last two spots are up in the air for Roberson, Lincoln, and Wong to battle it out, DiCello may be in that race too. Whoever can produce a 14+ score on floor tomorrow maybe...
If Jade hits her cheng and does a improved 5.8+ fx at trials, she should be on the team no doubt!!! Jordan, on the other hand, needs more. If Leanne has a bad trials -which honestly is quite unlikely at this point-, Jordan’s case for being in the team increases significantly if she hits 4/4 like she can since Leanne basically has a similar case. Buttt if Josc hits her cheng, 6.3 bb and fx, she’s for suuuure a better option than Jo at this point too. What will come down to tho is what they’ll prefer: A steady AA that can help a bit on some events and is solid aa backup or another gymnast with strong VT/FX combo (not necessarily needed but can add a few tenths on vt) and also can be counted on beam too. So, Leanne or Joscelyn. Jo, right now, need to prove a lot more than Jade, Leanne and Josc to be on that team. That’s why her being on this worlds team is more unlikely than those three. I have the same team as you, except I would switch Roberson and Chiles. I think Jordan would be a better pick for the team because she’s proven she can be extremely clean on a consistent basis and she has great artistry, something the US team is greatly lacking at the moment. Jordan doesn’t just compete, she performs, and that’s what we need.
Question for anyone: when Roberson and Carey do the full twisting DLO do they get deducted for piking it down like they do? It looks so much better in the straight form. Curious if it’s ok to do that or not.
Thanks for the video! I think Leanne should do floor for TF as she will inevitably score better internationally than some of her teammates and her floor is fantastic. If she has a good AA and Shi balks a bit she could also make the AA so I only disagree that Leanne doesn’t have medal potential, it just depends on what everyone else does. Skye could also have a huge qualification and take the 2nd AA spot. The first 4 spots are pretty locked. For the 5th spot I would take Jordan. Like Leanne, she can come thru in any event and also has a strong AA. This is going to be such a strong team. 🤩

I think Jordan is going to sneak her way onto the team. She had only been back in the gym for like a month according to her coaches and she still placed really well at Nationals. I am thinking the same thing as you with all the people considered and final team! To me the spot most up in the air would be joscelyn, and as it stands the only two I believe are true locks are Simone and shilese. If jade can get difficulty/consistency back there’s certainly an argument to take her over joscelyn (they have the same strengths/fill the same needs for the team). I’m afraid for worlds and, looking forward, 2024 Olympics, Leanne’s lack of medal potential will be a concern even though right now she’s consistent and can be used in every event. I love how she’s balancing elite with ncaa though and I’m majorly rooting for her. If suni gets healthy and gets back to full strength (obviously not happening in 2023), it’d be interesting to see if that puts skye’s spot in jeopardy since suni is a potential beam medal as well as a potential bars medal. As many have stated before, I don't envy the selectors job picking the team for WC, worst yet next year for the Olympics as I am sure there will be more names to be considered and as such an even more difficult task in completing. One can always say though that it is a 'nice' headache to have when you have so many quality gymnasts to pick a team from not even including a more happier and settled Simone. I don't think a team comprising of Simone, Shilese and Leanne can end up being a bad team although I would prefer if the team had more UB depth so that Simone wont have to compete for the team on bars. I’d defo use Shilese over Leanne on beam, got higher scores at nationals and she has even more upgrades she’s shown in training videos, she will have a super high difficulty if she adds the 2 losos after the side aerial. This means Leanne doesn’t really make sense on the team unless she was an alternate or something as she would be good filling in for injured people. Instead I’d take Kaliya Lincoln and put her on floor instead of Jocelyn, but keep her on vault still. Even though 2 people would only be doing 1 event , this is the highest scoring potential imo. I’d also put Skye on vault instead of Shilese to give her a little rest instead of doing all 4 events, they score pretty similarly and it would be good practice for Skye if she made it to vault finals
This may be an unpopular opinion but I genuinely feel like Suni pulling out of worlds selection camp is genuinely giving Roberson, Chiles, Sumanasekera, etc. an extreme confidence boost. I don’t think they would have taken Suni no matter how well she could have performed at selection camp but now that she’s for sure out I feel like it helped some girls out immensely.
The only way they were gonna take Suni to worlds was if she had a bars set ready to go. They don’t need just a beam event specialist with Simone and Skye on the team imo
Simone, Jade, Shilese, Jordan, and Skye. Jordan can match Leanne on UB and BB and is better on VT and FX also does have medal potential on both as she proved last year medaling on both. I would’ve taken suni over Skye especially if suni had a a good bar set yet Skye scores better than Leanne on bars and helps a lot on beam if she hits. Jade has to many accomplishments to be compared to Jocelyn and she still outscored Jocelyn with a fall on UB and would’ve scored a lot better internationally. Jade looked busted last year at camp & at the Olympic trials in 21 and ate in Liverpool & Tokyo.
No she can’t, it’s a WORLD championship and you are forgetting there are gymnasts from other countries as well. She can have a good score adding to the team’s score but not even close to medal against Europeans and Asians and Brazilians
She could make finals potentially but i think she will be 2 pc out - Simone and Skye for beam and Simone/shi/whoever gets the vault/floor spot on the team will make finals
Because she will bring higher scores on floor and vault and Blakely will bring in the high score on beam and bars. Watch the videos from day 1 selection camp

@@aguti7920 She’s going to do it in the team qualifications even with a fall she will qualify for the final and AA while four American gymnasts will do a vault and 3 will count so if anyone performs better they will keep the other score for qualifying in the final
Both
@@leykimayri wouldn't it be better for her to perform the Cheng first? She will qualify for the all around final anyway, but if her coach would touch her during her YDP and it would be her first vault she would be out of the AA final
Will suni lee compete in the world?
My opinion for UB: Blakely/Jones, Biles.
If tiana is out on the team over any of these other girls I will die 😭
Lol I agree, she doesn't have it this year
Exactly want her to make the team so bad
Exact same team I'd like to see go to Worlds and exact same line up.
I've been surprised to see the drop off with Jade. Maybe she's injured.
Skye basically has to be a lock too, since she can score so well on all events apart from floor
actually leanne could win a medal on BB and even on FX
No she can’t, it’s a WORLD championship and you are forgetting there are gymnasts from other countries as well. She can have a good score adding to the team’s score but not even close to medal against Europeans and Asians and Brazilians
She could make finals potentially but i think she will be 2 pc out - Simone and Skye for beam and Simone/shi/whoever gets the vault/floor spot on the team will make finals
Whatever happened to Konnor McLain?
Injuries 😓
I like Josc, but idk how she will be on the team after nationals
Because she will bring higher scores on floor and vault and Blakely will bring in the high score on beam and bars. Watch the videos from day 1 selection camp
Have they already determined Suni won't be healthy/ready for worlds?
She was offered a spot at selection camp but she refused. I think she is going to focus on recovery so she is ready for the Olympics next year
I don't like Skye or Joscelyn. But really, with this much talent I don't think that's going to be an issue for team USA regardless of who they choose
MY TEAM
Simone Biles (LOCK)
Shilese Jones (LOCK)
Jordan Chiles (LOCK)
Skye Blakely (lean over Leanne Wong)
Jade Carey or Joscelyn Roberson
R - Zoe Miller (strong UB candidate)
Wong, Carey, Roberson and Miller are simply guesses at this point. I don’t know if Leanne should go, I’m still torn over the VT/FX candidate and the reserve could go to anyone at this point.
TF
VT: (Blakely) Biles, Chiles, (Carey or Roberson)
UB: (Biles) Jones, Chiles, Blakely
BB: (Jones) Biles, Chiles, Blakely

@@mustawgymlooks like they didn’t watch Nationals.
@@mustawgymShe still scored higher than Joscelyn even with falls lol
Faz do Brasil
I'm pretty much with you, it's Simone, Shilese, Leanne, Skye, and Josc/Jordan are the 5th spot and alternate. I might lean more toward Jordan on the team and Josc as alternate, but as of now it's just about a toss up. I don't think there is any way Jade is getting on the team :/ But she will probably go to PanAms, likely with Tiana, Kailya, Katelyn, and Kayla... Ugh SO much talent!!!
I want Shilese to go so she can get that triple L turn on floor named after her
I think this team is likely. While Josc isn’t going to get great E scores on beam and floor, her Cheng adds more to a team score than taking another bar or beam worker.
My predictions are Simone, Shilese, Skye, Jordan, Josc & Leanne.
I really believe that if Romania hits everything they could get at least bronze.
I’d I say it’s possible but they would need to have the competition of their lives
Let’s worry about them making team finals first😭
@@Matthew-jh6oh no fr, but i hope they will! 🤞🏼
@@Matthew-jh6oh Let's worry about them making Paris first lol
can't guarantee anything with romania lol@@Matthew-jh6oh
I don’t think Leanne is making the team…
Oh yes please send Joscelyn, I wanna laugh so hardly seeing live the 6.5 E-score she’ll get on floor, haha! Some people also used to say that Skinner scored better internationally than nationally until they saw her E-scores in Tokyo lol 😂😂😂
I really don't understand where they got the idea that Jo scores well internationally. Ofcourse she did well in some of the smaller international competitions, but I believe that was because she was competing against a lot of other country's 'B-teams'
@@charitybosua I think she did the panamerican which is for the laughs literally (as far as scoring is concerned) and one World Cup but literally I’m too bored to start searching to see her routines and her E-scores. Maybe at some other point that I will need to laugh at something….
Laughing at a 17 year old is a weird flex.
@@kiraalldredge48I won’t be laughing at her, but at the ones who have been training her and the ones who chose her to come to Belgium and the world championship
Anyone know why Leanne didn’t compete her piked Arabian? So strange she did it in college then not at Nationals
Skye is not consistent at all. I would take Leanne over her.
Did you watch the whole video? She has Leanne on the team too. Skye also hit all her VT, UB, and BB at Classic and Nationals. For me, that’s a clear sign that she’s improving her consistency because that was not true for her last year in those competitions.
She placed 2nd on 3 events, Leanne wasn’t top 3 on any of them lol
