Whenever you see Rick playing the black and white check guitar , he`s playing in open G tuning .

Beautifully structured seqments! So disciplined! And he has a lot to keep him busy here. Easily my favourite Quo song - its a steam train of a track! Both Rick and Francis are GREAT guitarists. It doesn´t get any better. No wonder they make such great recordings! Rick must be the heavy rocker in the band! Hammer!

He did after all write the song.Anything else is another invention of what he wrote.That can be sometimes a good thing.Rick Parfitt in open G tuning is almost impossible to equal.

Just great riffing all the way. I just love the man. So sad, alot of all cocky buggers called critics write him and the band down whenever they can. He may not be the most flexible string bender. But my heart can feel his laying himself into every song to the fullest. He is my hero for...made my youth days and still continues to do so....My number one Tele plank basher for sure...
ricks endurance is amazing, its so knackewring to play.
Especially with those strings he used. A regular guitarist won't last long.

grew up on Fleetwod Mac, John Mayall et al.. and then these guys stopped playing hippy pop and let their hair down..(literally!!) and the world was so damned richer for it!!.. nice to see you are still as fluent Rick........ old Quo fans never die, we just sit in awe of the skills of the youngsters nowadays... grins.
On the under the influence tour me and a friend of mine won tickets to see quo at Sheffield city hall,we also got the chance to meet the guys backstage after the gig. Was an honour to meet the great man himself. Cant wait for Ricks solo album to be released. Rip Rick you maybe gone but you will never be forgotten.

I met him once while out fishing as a young kid, about 13 or so. He gave me loads of free fishing tackle and told me how many 'birds' he'd 'shagged'. Fantastic geezer, me and my mates loved it!

I am sat here with a big smile on my face, foot taping, and really enjoying this, great guitar from Rick, but I have enjoyed the quo for most of my life, I am 72 years old now so that is a long time , R.I.P. Rick
Oh, and now I miss Parfitt all over again.

Rick is a pure legend. In the 70's I was into the likes of Floyd and Zep, but the albums Piledriver, Hello, Quo, On The Level, and Blue For You are treasured possessions, an abiding memory is being at Quo gigs incl two of the three nights at the Glasgow Apollo when Quo really rocked the place with stuff like Big Fat Mama, Fortyfive Hundred Times, etc, its something I'll never forget, Quo were special, just incredible, and yeah that balcony at the Apollo really did "move" when Quo played there.

Rick Parfitt is my all time guitar hero.In the 70's Quo were THE best rock band on the planet,and Rick was the driving force of their live sound. He is God.

i had this dvd for 10 days but the disc's were in my laptop and other disc was in my xbox 360, and i got broken in to and they stole both my laptop and xbox, i was more gutted about losing this dvd :(

Inventive use of Open G tuning from the legend.

Anyone know the tuning?
Open G with a capo on second fret so it sounds in the key of A. Strings are tuned GGDGBD, tune the low E up to G so it matches with the 5th string and the open G. Make sure you have enough slack to tune it up so it doesn't break while you're tuning it up.

I know nothing about music, but is that a capo on the 2nd fret and what's its purpose?
john smith It is a capo and the guitar is in a different tuning ( open G). So, with the capo on the 2nd fret, the whole guitar is tuned in A.
