They don't get enough credit for there guitar skills. Francis was one of the most exciting players in the seventies. That's what constant criticism from the press leads to they hated bands like Quo because they had no control over them
By the 90's he became a much more accomplished player. Unfortunately he never regarded himself as an archetypical solo guitar player, so there's no longer much emphasis on lengthy solos in Quo's music, although he still does fantastic pieces, like the solo in Go Go Go.
Thank you very much! I Always Loved Quo's Blue for you Album, but shame, I do Not own a Telecaster, but about 15 Others...Time to do Something about it.....by the way: Do you run a guitar Shop? There are so many sitting in Guitar Stands, or are they all your's ? Amazing....What about doing a complete Quo Song? One of my favorites was Always Mad about the Boy.....anyway Thanks for the really good Video...God bless
Quo also push the beat. (Starting the chord change momentarily before the 1 count) subtle but very much their thing. Rick plays mostly downstrokes. Plus - his strings were like telegraph poles. The 4th string was wound.
Sorry, some of the rhythm guitar in this video sounds to me more AC/DC than Quo, even though chord-wise it's still correct. Rick Parfitt really developed a more sophisticated technique to it.
'the worst band in the world or the true progenitors of working class punk heavy metal' No, not my words but from an article I remember reading back in '78 in Encyclopaedia Of Rock. Not sure what they meant but Quo were at the front of my listening pleasure back at school in the early to mid 70s.

They certainly don't get enough credit - they're an incredible band!
Spot on!!

Fantastic video , about time someone did this.
Maybe tell us how to get the sound on a amp and the settings to use.
Five star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Will do!
Any tips on getting that great quo sound through the amp, great video 😊

that g tuning doesnt sound as accurate as rick's open G which both the 6th and 5th string are G
Great stuff! Thanks!
you can play pop goes the weasel on the G tuning
This is the right tuning, G-G-D-G-B-D
Right
You're wrong. Bottom E is tuned to G the same as the A.
and you should know Andrew, ( not being sarcastic by the way as I know who you are )
I only understand " Railway Station " ...but it sounds cool, so, thank you : )
For songs like Down Down the low E is actually tuned up to G

Mostly downstrokes
8 marzo Roma ❤
18 marzo Roma ❤❤❤❤❤
Well, easy (in capital letters), when you have to change the guitar tuning is a curious concept
I'm still confused about the tuning, as there seem to be contradictions.
Both the E and A - are tuned to G (Rick’s tuning) - the rest is right
Didn't know they had multiple techniques.
Nahh, Status Quo sound anything BUT choppy. The most essential key to their songs is the groove
Yes, choppy would be AC/DC….
👍👍👍👍

but people still know who they are since the 60s
This is not the Quo shuffle..
