What you call "the hats" are Phrygian caps, also called Liberty Caps, and are the type of cap worn in ancient time by freed slaves. The fact that folks don't know this now is depressing to me. Our educational system is broken. In any case, the Phrygian cap is not a fashion statement -- it is a symbol of our liberty from England.
One thing stuck out to me in almost every design. That was the "fonts." They could use much better fonts to improve the look of the coins. They just looked blah. Just my 2 cents!

The last one with the close-up free flowing feather and Eagle I do really like but without that silly shield, unless there will be a sword. Lose it! Liking the simple but elegant so if it is beat up a little down the road it can still look good, but can really dress up with a proof or reverse proof, even satin or burnished. With you on all the head gear & words in hair. Simple artful hair with a beautiful flow. Cornrows and Afro's look awesome like we've seen on other coins. Not really into all the chicken scratch lettering or dominating. A lot of those have done away with the clean flat field which can make a simple elegant art or slogan POP! Simplify the good ones and hone in on what catches the eye. Easy for me to say.
I'm all for lady liberty being on the obverse of all of the designs. Some of the designs could be better but I like the idea of going back to the symbol of lady liberty instead of people. Having a symbol not based on a person is a much more unifying idea than idolizing past leaders (even considering their accomplishments and contributions). The British monarchy and other past empires glorified their leaders on coinage and we wanted something more than that. I say it's time to go back to that ideal, even after the anniversary is done.

I think many of us will regret not having a nice set of all denomination coins once these new ones drop and the last year’s coins likely will become a key date, methinks. Couldn't cancel my morgan/ peace uncircs for 24 ,too expensive now, ugh ! but I had to cancel all others for now ,( til the new old designs are out for purchase )
I think what I am most excited for is the companion silver medals... And then on a side note, I feel the need to go back and buy up some of the older uncirculated sets. I feel like once the general public figures out what's happening here, the premiums are going to jump.

I do not collect dead presidents, so this a welcome change in theory, but the art is not all that appealing. Some of it looks like commercial clip-art. I was hoping for a Black Liberty bust, but this one is scowling, alas. Seeing the Art Deco Action coin was a surprise -- a throwback to 1925, i guess. Back to the drawing board?
I hope they don't put more buildings on coins. It's just as boring as putting presidents on coins. I hope we do return Lady Liberty on our coinage going forward. However, I'm not a fan of most of the Lady Liberty designs I've seen them show so far. DQ-O-01 is probably the best one so far. However, some of the others look so bad and yet CCAC is salivating at the mouth over them because of their political correctness. I don't get why CCAC hated stars and eagles on some of the proposed reverses, saying it looks too much like early federal eagles. IMO Federal Eagles on early coins look awesome. CCAC is out of touch sadly.
The mint is screwing this up. Most of these designs are garbage. Enough with independence hall and bells give the American people something new but classical. I do like the idea of the flag on the quarter with we the people.overall I give a 4 out of 10 on these designs is that really the best they could come up with? This was an opportunity for the mint to display their artists and imo they failed miserably. No privy marks!! This is a massive new coin program and a very important anniversary and I am disappointed as a coin collector and an American citizen with what has been presented. Come on mint you can do better. The look cheap. The US Mint needs to recruit better artists. Most of these designs wouldn’t even look good as a sticker. I do think Washington’s chair looks good and one or two others, but the rest is really terrible.
@SonOfASilverStacker NO! I hate that finish. What is the point of frosting the flat featureless part and making the relief look like liquid metal? You frost the relief so you can distinguish shadows and detail, then suspend that over a liquid field. They should go back to sand blasting for cameo proofs. The burning laser they use now just ruins the art and makes it look all etched out and grainy. I'd really like a 90% silver BU set. Normal finish, just in real US silver.

Some of these look like bad clip art, and there will probably be at least one or two more price increases from the Mint before they come out. That is a no for me.
