Never Been Touched! - Loads of Silver & AMAZING Old Finds Metal Detecting This Early 1700s Property!

- This week we are metal detecting an incredible 1740’s estate tucked way back on a 1/4mile driveway, but it almost didn’t happen.
When Doug and I drove down the driveway and spoke to the property owner about metal detecting the property she politely said no thank you. We were a little bummed as we knew the potential this place has but we accepted her answer and just chatted for a bit. We talked about the property in general and she kindly described all the unique features that only a house of this age would have. The structures were incredible with hand laid block and brick, dug from a quarry located right on the property. Before I knew it she invited me inside to see the walk-in fireplace, the exposed hand hewn beams, and an overall tour of this stunning 300 year old home. After touring the inside for a while and sharing stories she totally surprised me by saying, “I guess metal detecting the property would be fine”. I told her we’d try to find her some display worthy period pieces and she liked that idea. So we now have one day to get to work and see what amazing treasures are waiting in this yard that’s clearly never been touched!

Another great video guys. Really like silver Roosevelt dimes and quarters, Doug's dandy button & victorian sterling silver cigarette mouth piece Rich's 1826 matron head & the 1809 ( last year) drape bust 1/2 cent Jason's #10 crotal bell half, & the 4 skeleton key spill. Way to go guys.
Rich's half cent looked like it had a die rotation error, which makes it even better (even if he did hit it).
So many acres, you need a bigger crew to get everything...

Quarter hoarders you always seem to find the best places to hunt for treasure! The respect you give to the owners and the property is commendable! The key spill is fantastic! When I was in school in Lexington, Ky. along time ago they were building a sorta basketball court, LOL I was digging with a buddy when he said look at this. He had a huge rusted iron ring with 6 of the biggest dark green skeleton keys I've ever seen! They looked like something you would see in a jail or prison. I'm talking about 6 inch long! Each!
Sounds like a jailers key and those are incredible. I have one hanging up in my house but I haven’t been lucky enough to dig one up yet.
The fact that there is a hole in it may make it a sweetheart pendant. Something the soildersmade for a loved one when they went off for a war.
I really love those keys. I would like to say that not everything shiny is silver plated. The keys most likely are nickel plated. What ever they are it’s an incredible find. Good luck 🍀 and be safe. 👋

Those keys are phenomenal! They could've been held together by a ribbon, and over time the ribbon disintegrated.

I've been detecting for about 40 yrs and always use a piece of canvas or towel on the ground to lessen the spread of dirt,esp on a yard.

Love the Merc! It was on my bucket list for 2023, and checked it off last Sunday... found it down about 8 inches under an old ski lift in Washington State. 1943 in beautiful condition. Can't beat silver; always brings a smile.

WOW what an awesome find on the skeleton key spill Jason.
Love the show. Wondering if you guys look around in the holes for the parts that may not be metal. eg...the German silver cigarette holder PROBABLY had an ivory mouthpiece that broke off the one end. If you can remember where the hole was Dougy...maybe dig it again? Such things most likely break and separate. AFTER they are dropped. Otherwise, they'd be in a trash pit or repaired. When you find PARTS of things...you might consider sifting or at least molesting the dirt clods a bit where you find metal pieces that undoubtedly paired with materials like ivory, bone, ceramics, or stone. Just a thought. Don't mind me. Tombac seat driving.
