A lovely interview. Mr Watkins slightly exaggerates the importance of Toscanini in the Philharmonia's history and omits to mention two extremely influential figures: Guido Cantelli and Otto Klemperer. That said, Toscanini's Brahms concerts in the 1950s are legendary.
👏👍 12:23 The French horn has a nice smooth reverb sound, and its resonating intonations remind me of the shofar (ram’s horn). The French horn, to my understanding, is a difficult instrument to learn; that is, the player needs to control the pitch/sound through air supply, embouchure and hand placement within the bell. 😖 ♫
