They’re made for people with a low budget and not for people who want to achieve very beautiful pictures. For portraits any fixed range 1.4/1.8 or 2.8 tele is unbeatable.
A good rule of thumb, if your focal length is 125, then make your shutter speed atleast double of that (1/250). Or else you will be prone to camera shake :)

You need at least f2.8. Hopefully you got.IBS since you have hard time keeping the camera still or get a tripod. Increase shutter, lower iso. Hell auto on both would proabably get better results than what you got currently. Then learn how to color grade better. Honestly though just a lower aperture would make such a difference in this.

Don’t judge the equipment. Judge the photographer. He doesn’t know how to configure the camera settings. The subject is out of focus, the shutter speed is too low and the iso is too high for daily light. Even his exposure compensation is warning of +0.3
