    I love your videos - they always, always give me a wonderful hit of nostalgia.
    I, too, got the LEGO Police headquarters set for Christmas one year - my younger brother had the hospital, which I remember had some of those very early figures - no faces on the heads, but they had hats or hairpieces, and a body that looked like a petrol pump.
    This was at the very start of LEGO making special parts, too - the mount for the tail rotor of the helicopter, was also the propellor mount for aircraft models.
    Great sets, and a hell of a lot of fun to build.
    Thanks again. 👍👍👍

    13:53 I had a larger scale western town, had to assemble all the buildings, corral horses, and it came on a big mat. I played with that for HOURS. I remember seeing it on the shelf at woolworth's in toronto and my parents couldn't afford it. Sure enough, it showed up under the tree one christmas. I've googled it, and never been able to find the manufacturer. Used to keep it in an old suitcase.

    I also love the old guards colour party, I've no idea why but it's almost an addiction, so much so that I bought 4 boxes of the recent re-issues. I didn't know Matchbox did the tank transporter, even though the colour scheme is a bit weird, I kind of like it. It looks like you got more figures in the Wild West set than were originally issued, I'm sure there was only 1 wagon train included, so someone has added quite a bit to it.

    My brother was given a Lego fire station set for his 10th birthday in 1974. He always liked that set. Out of pure nostalgia, I managed to get another one for him a couple of years ago. The only thing missing was the red Lego flag. I managed to find one, but it was very hard to find and quite expensive. I notice your set has the red Lego flag and it looks like it's in great condition. Take good care of it. I think the very early Lego sets were the best.

    • @toysoldiernostalgia
      @toysoldiernostalgia  5 дней назад

      Yes I was lucky to find both sets with the often broken flag and antenna. I`m kinda bummed to find out these were the last two from a pretty large Lego collection. I wished I could have gotten more sets in this condition.
      I agree about the old Lego sets. New ones are great with some great building techiques, but the old ones have nicer estetics with a cleaner look.

  • @mikesmith2905
    @mikesmith2905 2 месяца назад

    I have been researching ‘play’ for a few years and to gather more information I went looking for toys so I could observe how children played with them. The problem was there weren’t any toys, there was a lot of ‘merchandising’ but that is for collectors and the rest were very poor with limited play value. Designing toys takes more work than making a replica and consistency of scale is important for play. I have a lot of data now and I am looking at the work of various Chinese manufacturers to find one that might be up to the job. Once I have identified a competent manufacturer I can offer them a detailed proposal to fill the gaps. The problem is on the retail side, with the old family owned shops disappearing the chain stores all sell the same very limited range of items, but we may have found a loophole for that. If it comes together I’ll let you know.
